I was pleased with my experience at Andersen's and we went back a second time, and that was very good also. Consistent. The staff is very attentive and very friendly. They came over to us right away and took our order. The food didn't take a long time to come out - I've read other reviews that said it did but I wonder if that was when they first opened. Oftentimes places are overwhelmed when they first open. We went after the initial fanfare died down a bit. So, our food was prompt. The food was hot except for one item - our mac and cheese. They took it back and quickly delivered a piping hot replacement. What more could I ask for? Mistakes happen. They made it right. The order by the piece chicken was delicious. Really good. And the ribs were excellent too. It's a BBQ place and to us, it was more than worth it. We'll happily return.

Pretty good! Got the 4 piece fried chicken meal. Fried Chicken was pretty good! Kind of like kfc but tasted more like real food. Cornbread that came with it is definitely in the subset of savory cornbread, around here sweet cornbread is definitely more popular but I vibed with it. 1 star off for the Mac and cheese, which had a very fake tasting cheese sauce on it. There's nothing wrong with that, some people love the processed cheese taste but I'm not here for it. I'll definitely go again and get a different side.

Went there for the first time after Dixie’s had closed. Food was good but the new location is not as customer friendly as Dixie’s was. You have to order your food at the counter, pay and leave a tip (even though you hadn’t had a chance to evaluate the service). You are given a number and then they bring the food out to you. I personally liked having the normal wait service they have at Dixie’s. Also, the set up for seating is a bit uncomfortable. I was on bench that kept moving. The worst thing about my experience was that even though the service I did get was attentive, it was attentive to the point of feeling rushed. I was asked if I wanted a box for my food and I was only half finished. I’m sure that once they get the kinks out, it it will be a great place because the food is good. It appears to be more of a takeout place than Dixie’s was. I’ll be back but I may take out next time because I don’t want to feel rushed.

Take out was incredibly fast. all the orders in separate aluminum pans with lids. The brisket is awesome with the side of their bbq sauce. They got more sides to select and well worth it.

I'm giving Andersen's 5 Stars, but it's for my next visit, not today's. I've read the early reviews, spoken to friends, and in spite of a generally lukewarm response, I wanted to give this new Smithtown business a try. We dine up and down Main Street and Maple Avenue, as well as 25A in St. James. We were rooting for a great new entry to a very competitive dining town. The clock is ticking for this place to make a better impression in a community with way too many choices for a great meal. I don't know where to begin. The store was not packed at 6:30PM on a weekday. I ordered a $24.99 brisket and chicken combo with two sides and cornbread. That's $25 I'll never see again. In the 15 minutes it took for them to prepare the meal, I looked through their menu. It's really expensive - it feels like everything is anywhere from $1 - 2 to $5 more than you can get it elsewhere in town. $9.99 for mozzarella sticks? Close to the highest price anywhere within miles ($5.99 +/- at almost every pizzeria!) Almost $13 for a tuna sandwich, a side dish and a fountain drink? Why would I come to a BBQ place for a tuna sandwich anyway? C'mon, folks, earn my repeat business! And to that point, it's also a very extensive menu - waaaaay too extensive. It's the Swiss Army Knife of menus - it does everything, and none of it well. It seems they've decided to take on Salsa Salsa, Yogurtini, Old Street Pub, La Panchita, Napper Tandy's and who knows who else by offering Burgers, Paninis, Fish & Chips, Coconut Shrimp Salads, Quesadillas, Burritos, Empanadas (are you kidding?) and too many other irrelevant dishes. IMHO, this place needs to focus on one thing and do it well. You're a BBQ place. Be a GREAT BBQ place. I can get my burritos, mango salads and paninis elsewhere. I can get mozzarella sticks next door at Mannino's. Sadly, Andersen's failed as a BBQ place, as well. The 15 minute wait implied my food will be fresh-cut and cooked, the side orders reasonably fresh as well. Everything tasted like it came off the SYSCO (wholesale foods) truck, either frozen or cellophane-wrapped for long-term storage. I'm thinking that a place that sells everything from Empanadas to Mozzarella Sticks to Fish & Chips isn't paying a staff to hand-dip fresh-caught fish filets in home-made batter. You're getting the same frozen, breaded fish they sell at a dozen other places nearby. And their corn on the cob (a staple of any good BBQ place)? It's prime corn season everywhere except Andersen's. The BBQ chicken was dry and tasteless. The brisket was fatty and rubbery. The dogs loved it. I didn't realize until I got home that I wasn't offered a choice of BBQ sauces as you'd expect at any real BBQ place. Instead, my $25 combo dinner came with a tiny, 2 or 3-ounce cup of BBQ sauce that had almost nothing going for it. I'm picturing a case of gallon bottles in the stock room with the generic words "Barbecue Sauce" printed on the outside. The corn bread tasted like it had been stored next to something with a berry/fruit flavor. I was disappointed when Famous Dave's closed on 347. I was thrilled to hear this family-owned place relocated from Kings Park to Smithtown. Now I'm wondering why they left, and what they expected a new location would accomplish for their business. Okay, I'm done. I'll give Andersen's one more chance to earn the five stars at the top. If not, my next review won't be so hopeful.

Absolutely loved my meal!! I was craving a "Southern" meal of BBQ smoked brisket "Ends" and was surprised to see they had Collard Greens on the menu. The "ends" were tender, perfectly seasoned and the collard greens were so fresh and had that true southern flavoring. They have so much to offer on their menu; Tex-Mex, Smoked Meats, Chicken, Ribs, PUlled Pork, Shrimp...Quesadillas, Paninis, Burgers...oh my, too much to list ~ go check out their menu. If I could, I would give them 100 stars - DELISH * YUMMY *

Anderson's Smokehouse & Grill in Smithtown was awesome! My boyfriend and I started with the mozzarella sticks then my boyfriend got the Wild Rooster Panini and I got the Southwest Chickadilla and both were delicious. Zack and Kaelynn were both super sweet and welcoming, we got to talking and they told us they've been open for a couple of months and are still working on perfecting everything but they gave wonderful service and the food was hot and delicious. Highly recommend!
