My friend and I were specifically looking for a small local coffee shop open in the evening. The General came recommended by someone on the Michiana Cork & Fork Facebook page, so we checked it out tonight. We were very pleased! My friend had the Kibbler, and I had the chicken salad. We both enjoyed our meals. We also decided to skip the coffee and instead tried the Rose Lemonade. Also a winner! Even the pickles were extra tasty! Thanks for a great experience!

Paul Kuharic --- congrats! Despite it being packed 12:40 pm today, very fast! Grilled cheese with chips & dill spear/sweet slices - was melty and delicious! Retro + hip/cool vibe - according to fellow patron, Larry Clifford, music volume needs adjusting to a quieter setting.

A really nice space to be in. The food and coffee are great. They display and support local art, musicians too. You feel like you are at a friends place.

Nice atmosphere, great coffee, fast WiFi. The Russian Sweet Cabbage Soup was amazing and the Chocolate Chip Banana Bread outstanding.

Just had an excellent bowl of veggie soup. This is a traditional recipe - tomato base, lots of pepper, lots of veggies. Wasn't overly salted. The bagel seemed very authentic. (Growing up in North Judson, Indiana, I really don't know anything about bagels). Love the decor, the vibe, the people. Welcome to the neighborhood, General!

Visiting The General was a charming experience. The menu was large enough to satisfy most diners, and the coffee was good as well. An excellent Cafe overall.
