Taste-Y!!! Great atmosphere, great service, & the food was phenominal! We each had a cup of amazing soup, shared the fish tacos, I had the Cilantro Roll (sushi) & hubby had a sandwich, & we were STUFFED! Flavors were on point with everything! I’ve never had a better tomato soup, & the cilantro roll was a very unique and AMAZING flavor combo! We’ll be back!😀
Our favorite place to eat in Michigan. Great martini options, and amazing taste sensations with a variety of small plates and sushi options. My personal favorites include the blackened chicken in a white sauce, the fried Kale, and the sausage trio. Owners Joel and Heidi are almost always there to welcome guests, and we have learned they are beloved by many people who live full time in South Haven. Best of all everything is made from scratch and is fresh. You just don't find that enough anymore. Just don't forget reservations because this place is hugely popular. Love it!
We went here with a group of 16 on Saturday night and everything was fabulous! We got great service and the food was amazing. The chef's mac&cheese was to.die.for.
Wonderful food, atmosphere, and staff! Heidi, Heidi, and Sarah took great care of us, and we will be back as soon as possible. Highly recommend the tomato parmesan bisque soup and the beef sandwhich on parmesan crusted bread. Soooooo goooood!
The food was delicious, our server knowledgeable and on top of things and the atmosphere was wonderful!
Chill ambient and great food - loved the sushi. Curtis was our server, so polite, presentable and welcoming. He is doing a great job, loved it. Thank you
Amazing food and cocktails at Taste! Server was excellent and loved the atmosphere! Would recommend to anyone coming to the South Haven area - we will definitely be back! True Gem!
We came in from Kalamazoo for my 30th birthday recently. The food was delicious, and the service even better. Highly recommend- we will be back!
The food was absolutely amazing! I stumbled upon it because the pizza place wasn't able to accommodate us. We had about 6 bdishes under $35. On sunday it was buy 2 and get one free. Everything was delicious and its now my new favorite restaurant.
Awesome atmosphere, incredible food... definitely recommend. The Parmesan bread plate and the filet medallions were outstanding!
Delicious! I had the tuna tartare and potato pancakes. I'd highly recommend eating here! The staff was friendly and professional. Go there and experience it for yourself.
I have been to Taste often with friends and family and enjoyed it every time. I usually order the phoenix roll sushi and the salad with goat cheese and beets. I also like the Korean barbecue chicken. The service and food are always consistently good.
Great food with a great waitress Hanna, very attentive, and Heidi (beautiful woman). Food was great, a really cool adventure. Can’t wait to come again!
Everything on the menu is good. But the turkey sandwich is the best i have ever had.
Great food, really nice atmosphere. Loved all our dishes and our drinks. Service was good. Very clean, nice view from the window seats.
Had an excellent time Heidi was great and everything was perfect! Food is delicious quite remarkable in fact. We had the, scallops, blue gill fish tacos, turkey sandwich, and the Korean BBQ chicken. Prices weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be either. Nice and dark in here it's comfortable and relaxing. The drinks are on point, dirty martinis are fantastic. Definitely try this place out if you're in South Haven.
Really great experience here. South haven is a cool town, and this restaurant has a lot of unique choices all made to perfection. The cookie pie might be the best dessert I’ve ever had. Dan M was also a great server!
We came to South Haven for our first wedding anniversary trip and wanted some delicious food! We came to Taste twice, once for lunch and dinner. We both LOVED it each time we went. The food was absolutely amazing and the prices shocked up! It was so affordable for such great food! There is a great variety of things to try, the staff was awesome, and did we mention the food was amazing?! I wish there was a Taste near us!
Met with friends for lunch. First visit for all of us and it was absolutely delightful. To start with the waitress Ellie was very nice and patiently explained everything to us. We had potato soup, tomato soup, artichoke hearts, cuban shrimp, scallops, potato pancakes, fish tacos and salmon. All the food was seasoned and prepared to perfection. Prices are surprisingly reasonable. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. A good selection of drinks is also available with martinis and craft beers. In short it is a great experience and value for the money. We will definitely be back. Check out their Web site. They have display allergy specific menu items. So convenient.
Wife and I decided to give Taste a try and we have heard lots about it. The food is amazing, great combo of flavors. The sushi was very fresh and amazing. Good experience and great atmosphere.
EDIT:
Went back again and ordered different food this go around, the seafood dip is packed with flavor and the pita that comes with it is a perfect match. The filet bites are seasoned to perfection and so tender. The potato pancakes surprised me as I didn’t have much hope for them but good combo of flavors if you like to expand your pallet. Then the blue gill just wow, it was soft and buttery and paired with their what I think was ranch was just so good. Now onto dessert the tiramisu, while this isn’t something I normally like, but it is exceptionally good
Food was indeed fresh and delicious like other reviews mention :) Here is the Mac N' Cheese, Korean BBQ chicken, and scallop scampi, all delicious and not too filling or heavy! Sauce of that scallop scampi was so good. I didnt realize there wouldn't be any pasta but it was for the best, less carbs and I didn't feel too full afterwards :)
This was our 2nd time at Taste and each time has been it's own experience and absolutely fantastic!! We were blown away with the Korean Barbecue, the Cuban Shrimp, and the Blue Gill!! You really can't go wrong with anything you order and I can almost guarantee the flavors you experience will leave you wanting to try more and more small plates! Highly recommended if you're in the area!
Everything was delicious here we had spicy sushi, mac & cheese, filet bites, Jerk shrimp, Koren BQQ, and some more stuff. This place is mostly for people in groups of 4 or more to share food together. Because you get mini plates of food and you just share. It took about 10 minutes to get our food, and that's not that long, and there was no wait, but there usually is a wait. We came here around 12:43 p.m. and had lunch and explored the town, and the town is beautiful! In conclusion, this is a place to go during your trip to South Haven! But it was a little expensive because we spent $150 but it was worth it.
Everything very tasty. Jerk shrimp was my favorite.
Friendly service.
45 minute wait on Friday night @8.
You want to call when they open to be put on the waiting list. I had a two hour wait last night and dined in around 830 pm. So while waiting we went back to walking around even had time to get in the water.
Outdoor dining was worth the wait time. Nice ambiance and the plates are delicious. I would recommend the sweet and sour shrimp, fish tacos & the salmon. We regret not ordering more, it was so good!
Got seated right away. However, watched server at another table, pour the guests water, i had to pour my own water. My order came out quickly and the food was delicious. Had the fried blue gill, bay scallops(a bit on the rubbery side) and a glass of riesling my order total was $36.62. The restaurant was clean but very loud so if you come with a date, sit closer to them so you can hear them.
Food.was great. Small plates are delicious and great for cycling or just touring the town. Martinis are awesome would definitely go back
I would personally skip the chefs choice hummus and mushrooms next time. Forst time visiting and though the food was good, it was a bit steep for the portions. Loved the jerk shrimp and scallops most! I would have ordered the wedge salad but any restaurant who doesn't have a balsamic drizzle on a wedge is missing the mark in my opinion. The blue gill was also good, we just don't eat many fried foods.
While in south haven we ate here our final night, food was delicious, service by Heidi was perfect. Thank you
My only complaint is the filet bites were too seasoned, I don't eat with alot of salt so these were extremely salty even though being tender and delicious 😋
The small plates are good sized. Four to five small dishes should be more than enough for 2 people.
Elderberry martini was delicious. The chefs special hummus was black bean hummus which was really tasty. The Korea BBQ chicken was a bit too sweet for my liking.
This american eatery on google maps was way fancier on the inside than what we were expecting! We got a big table to ourselves, the ambience was nice and it seemed pretty busy! We ordered the smoked salmon with cream cheese sushi, the pita with hummus and the angus burger which were all decent. We also ordered this scallop and scampi dish which was my favorite and tasted really good! I also had an espresso martini which was quite good. Portions were decent and service was quick.
Is the best place to go. Hands down. The best food, the best staff, the best owners. The best place to be. They have lots of "small" dishes so it is fun to go and get a few to share so you can taste lots of different options.
The Mac and cheese is legendary and you need to check the specials board for the Mac of the week. The sushi is great (and the only sushi in town), fish tacos are a staple and the blackened chicken. And I would highly suggest getting the bread and butter to start with. The bread is salty and comes out warm with super tasty garlic butter.
They also have sandwiches and burgers if you do not want to do small plates.
