Very friendly staff, quaint homey atmosphere, but cold in the morning. Only heat source is the fireplace so bundle up if it is cold outside. Breakfast was great, they have multiple options for those that are vegetarian.
Totally enjoyed my breakfast burrito, but my sweetie was less than dazzled with his biscuits and gravy. Very nice staff.
Best Chili for miles. Great lunch
The Best Dinners in South Lake!. This place rocks! It is so affordable, with huge portions and great food. The burgers and sandwiches are amazing, and their meatloaf is the best I have ever eaten!
Fresh Seafood, Filet Migon for $22 was so tender and juicy and better than a steak I had at a "fine dining" restuarant in town. They have a great wine and beer selection, are family friendly, and make all their own soups and salad dressings from scratch! You will be blown away and then will want to come back the next day for breakfast, which is just as amazing!
What a find The Getaway Cafe So Lake Tahoe. We dined at the Getaway Cafe after a day of sightseeing, we stopped to buy gas and asked a CHP officer for a recommendation. It was a little hard to find, the restaurant sits back on the lot. The minute we walked in we were made to feel at home. Our dinner was relaxed and cozy. What a great find, I have never eaten a better food, or made to feel so at home. The service was great and, I will go back.
I remember it when it was chris's cafe. Classic hometown cooking
Brunch was good. Parking was easy. Had a short wait. Chicken fried steak was a good ratio of breading to meat. Hash brown were crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Coconut French toast was a good portion. Overall everyone was happy with what they ordered.
Fantastic! The menu was very descriptive. The food was cooked to perfection. The service was great. The waiters were attentive. My friend was reading the cover on the small creamer cups and they asked wondering if he needs non-dairy options. The checked on us 4 times. A few of us were sharing plates and they split the food between the two plates.
Very close to 5 stars for my visit here. Count on there always being a wait because it is a popular place. It’s definitely worth it if you have the time! We waited 20 minutes the first day (we tried to go back another day but the wait was 35 minutes and we were too hungry and on a time crunch). The service is 5 stars. Everyone is very friendly and attentive. The food is really good! I asked for jalapeños on my dish and they were pickled not fresh therefore I didn’t eat any of them. Not for sure if they have fresh ones or not the guy who picked my plate up said, “Oh, you like fresh ones?” but didn’t say anything about them having fresh ones so I assumed they didn’t. Definitely worth checking out!
This little spot is a great place to grab breakfast when you’re in South Lake Tahoe. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and it’s got a great “hometown” feel to it. The service is great as the servers are super friendly and get you in and out quickly without rushing you. We stopped here on our way back to the Bay Area but we’d be willing to drive out of our way to visit again. I ordered the traditional breakfast and my wife had the French toast. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals but had a tough time choosing as there were so many good options on the menu. Come here to get off the beaten path but don’t expect to escape the crowds as it is wildly popular with the locals.
We recently visited a cafe for breakfast and I have to say, it was a great experience! The food was amazing and the service was top-notch. Diane, the owner, was very attentive and friendly.
The cafe is very popular, so there was a wait line. However, they serve coffee, water, and drinks for people in line which made the wait more bearable.
The location is outstanding as well! It’s easy to find and there is ample parking available.
Overall, I highly recommend this cafe! The food is great, the service is awesome, and the location is perfect.
I have never before written a restaurant review, but this place is worth it.
Diane is the embodiment of hospitality. She's thought of everything to make your visit comfortable, enjoyable and delicious. The staff works in perfect unison -- we couldn't tell who our server was. It didn't matter. Our every need was anticipated and it felt like it was truly their pleasure.
With service like this, they could have served scrambled cardboard and I would have gladly eaten it. Luckily, the food is also outstanding.
We stopped on our way to Tahoe on a whim and what a pleasant surprise when we found this gem. A little restaurant on the side of the road with great atmosphere, amazing food and the most unbelievable service I have ever received in a restaurant. We had to come back the next day and they are very pet friendly. The omelettes, French Toast and Chilaquiles were out of this world. Mimosas were tasty but once I tried their pancakes with banana and walnut I could simply find my way back to this place simply to eat here. If you find yourself going towards Tahoe do yourself a favor and stop here.
If you’re looking for a brunch spot that has a mountain town feel with delicious food and cocktails this is a must! Staff is always awesome and friendly! You’re going to wait but be patient it worth it!
This place is by far the best food we ate all week in Tahoe. The owner and crew are so helpful. Definitely a home town vibe. Beautiful view on tip of the tasty food
Absolutely wonderful breakfast experience. Friendly staff and food was delicious. Felt like home on a Sunday morning with family
