This is an honest opinion of my experience staying at the Pine needles lodge and golfing all 3 courses. The Needles, South course, Mid Pines.. The lodge and facilities are aged but it kind of adds to the history of the place. There were updates being done during our stay getting ready for the LPGA open this June. Our room was nice, suited our stay, we had a putting green out our back door so that was nice. The lodge it’s self is OK, you kind of feel like you are walking into 1975 when you walk in. The best part of this place is the staff. Everyone with 1 exception was great and ready to help in anyway. Sharon and the bar staff are top notch. I mean so polite, funny, you can tell they love their jobs and work nonstop. I can’t remember his name but the general grounds guy was super polite, answered every question we asked and made it a point to check in with us to see if we needed anything. Thanks pal. Really the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because I was told after my 7pm round, I could not eat dinner because the cook had to many orders in. As a guest I felt let down, but Sharon made it work…. We had great salmon dinners that night. Also it would have been nice to know 2 of the 3 courses were cart path only. Just would have been nice to know before I spent 2k that I was going to be carrying my bag 15 miles to play…. Needles and Mid pines.. up hills, down hills, on slow greens. I was so looking forward to putting theses great fast greens. They were maybe a 9-10 speed.
The courses: South pines: awesome visually, new renovations make this place awesome to view and harder to play. Bunkering was incredible and elevation gave us the 3 D view. Better have a good sand game. Mid Pines: great course and player friendly but not quite up to the other 2. Needles: great course, best of the 3, awesome greens, long holes, fair landing areas. Lots of elevation and creative shot making a must. All of the greens were super slow while we played because of the time of year. March 24th 2022. Also be sue of the Womens Open scheduled for June it was cart path only on both the Needles and Mid pines courses which sucked because you can’t get yardages unless you wanna walk for ever to check and then get clubs so better be prepared to walk . In all it’s a beautiful place, great staff, awesome golf, and peaceful. Oh and TPC Sawgrass wasn’t bad either the week before. Premo …. Sunk a 66’ putt on 17 for a par. Lol. Shot 98. Stadium course.. if it’s your first time, use a caddie. Way worth it. Mine was once ranked 7th USA amateur golfer. New his stuff.
Pine Needles is absolutely my favorite course in the Sandhills area. No better place to make memories with friends. Making the days count (JC) Check it out!
Great track, one of my favorite layouts in the area! Maybe not quite as nice as years past but by no stretch bad by any means! Overall everything was in pretty good shape. My only complaint was greens were a little slower then other courses in the area.
Beautiful Donald Ross layout. Had the opportunity to play it several years ago and it didn't disappoint.
Lovely course, pristine condition right now. We played on a Sunday afternoon and felt like we had course to ourselves. Very challenging to approach greens, can’t miss in wrong spots! Most holes do not run by eachother which is a cool way to journey through pine needles. Everything feels very old school, which is perfect for tradition of the town/area.
Upon driving on the property I had no idea what to expect from the rustic look of the buildings amongst all of the pines. After rounding the corner of the lodge, we were greeted by some of the nicest golf course staff and a sense of awe set in.
As the classic Rolex clock came into view, it was then that I could see and appreciate the history of the course. In this area the golf shop is accessible up a flight of stairs. There is also a large putting green and driving range with complementary balls.
We had plenty of time to eat lunch in the lodge. Again, very kind staff who gave us bottles of water and snacks for the course.
Landon was our starter who made sure we felt welcome and appreciated. Off we went onto this amazing course. The fairways are perfect. The greens are in great shape. There is not much water with only 4 holes having water on the course. The course is challenging yet fair.
Don’t let the rustic look fool you, this place is special playing host to many tournaments. The staff are engaging and friendly. The experience is something to soak in and enjoy! I had a great time and want to come back.
One of the most amazing practice areas in golf. The Loop short course is very challenging. Looking forward to the ladies US Open here.
