I *LOVE* "The Monterey Café" because I feel it truly is a "come-as-you-are" kinda place. In some ways it's almost like a "where-(almost)-everybody-knows-your-name" kinda place; the atmosphere is very laid-back & chill but punctuated with a few RoWdY nights a week too!
The pizza menu and pizza-by-the-slice are consistently mouth-watering but they have an expansive menu of plenty of other lunch and dinner fare too and, the drinks are reasonably budget-minded in price with a different special each day of the week.
Songbirds such as myself LOVE that karaoke is offered 7 days a week! The mix of slow and busy nights means some nights you may sing often, some nights there is VaRiEtY in entertainment.
If you like the kind of non-pretentious atmosphere where you can be happy as a rabble-rouser or a wall-flower, and appreciate having fun while staying in budget, this is def a spot to check out!
Best Karaoke hosted by the best KJ ***Anita Walker**** - in town. Great food, great drinks, great music ,and great people getting together to have an excellent time!!!
The food is so good! Friendly staff and love the owner awesome place to eat!!!!
Thank you to everyone that came to my aid last night when I was attacked outside the bar. You all are angels. And a special thank you to the sweet red headed girl that sat with me and tried to calm me down.
Great food great drinks and great bar staff felt very welcomed.
Dirty bird Dirty bird Dirty bird! Great sandwich.
The staff is always friendly, the food is always good and their commitment to outstanding member service is second to none. Thank you for being awesome!
Excellent place to watch crazy kereoke and eat good pizza.
Great Karaoke bar. Staff is fun and friendly, great drink prices and they have excellent pizza as well. (I believe they have a "power hour" from 8-9 where you get pizza slices and beers for a $1.00). Great place to hang with friends and belt out some tunes.
Awesome little bar to get pizza and food late at night. If you like karaoke this is a great spot for you. Joe and Kristine are really friendly and they make you feel at home
If you had asked me my opinion on Monterey Cafe a few years ago, I would have told you to stay away. Terrible service, high prices, and the worst karaoke host I've ever experienced.
I don't know when or why things changed, but I'm so glad I recently gave Monterey another chance. The pizza is one of the best pies downtown, no doubt. The bartenders are friendly and pour delicious drinks. The bouncer keeps a friendly crowd inside and hotheads outside. And the karaoke host, Jess, keeps a tight rotation, a balanced mixer, and throws down some incredible songs herself.
This review is for those of you who, like me, got a bad taste in your mouth from the old Monterey. Give them another shot!
Well, coming from Monterey, I was surprised to see a restaurant in Spokane themed after our little beach town. But, it is was a welcome surprise. Solid food, friendly staff, surf boards. It felt like home. I had the Cobb salad and it was on point. I think pizza and booze is there specialty. That, and their bar. Still, cool, relaxed spot to grab food or drinks in downtown Spokane.
This tiny joint is Awesome! Good food and phenomenal staff! My clients absolutely love coming here.
Stopped off by this place after the Comedy Club and were treated to one of the best pizza experiences we have ever had. Each ingredient is discernible making up a wonderful mix of flavor sensations. The crust is unique, and not traditionally a fan of crust, must say that this one is quite well flavored.
Service was prompt, friendly and not overdone.
Monterey Cafe is certainly worth the trip to downtown Spokane for this incredible pizza experience.
I go normally for the pizza some of the Best in town. They also have karaoke and a good bar.
They almost always have karaoke, which isn't bad. Feels a little dicey but really isn't... Only has one bathroom, total. Great pizza, don't even have to stay for the atmosphere lol
