From the second we walked in the door, the service was impeccable. I believe our waiters name was Bobby. We started with the roasted tomato and red pepper bisque, it was a perfect balance of creaminess and the acidity of the tomato and peppers. I had the pork shank with polenta. The polenta was a great texture and was full of flavor. I had no need for my knife with the pork shank, it was so delectably tender and the brown sugar glaze was a perfect complement to the flavor of the pork. My wife had the veal Marsala which was a unique take in a traditional Marsala sauce featuring fresh tomato and basil. Great dining experience, I can't wait to dine there again!!
Had a delicious meal to celebrate my birthday. Our waiter was excellent and very knowledgeable. Loved the fresh flavor of the salad and my cod was perfectly prepared. The ambiance is relaxing and I can’t wait to return when I’m in Springfield again.
My wife and I ate here tonight and loved it. It was the best food we have had dining out in Springfield in a long time. The chicken and veal were excellent. We will be back and tell others about you. Our server was superb as well.
amazing!! :) I made my reservation on Facebook and asked a bunch of questions since I was trying to plan my friend's birthday dinner and I had never been there before. They answered me on fb messenger promptly and politely every time :) The place is so romantic and upscale and warm. Great atmosphere. It's a place you could impress your first date with, romance your wife, have a business lunch or have a birthday dinner party with your friends. the staff was great. everything was nice and fancy but not stuffy or uncomfortable. I also randomly asked if they could get a cheesecake before I got there for my friend and they just made it happen. sooooo convenient. The food was amazing. you can taste the quality and they have a great wine selection :) I cannot express enough how lovely this place is and how they went out if their way to make our experience great :) This is definitely a hidden gem. Thank you!!
Charming romantic setting perfect for the perfect proposal from every detail. The table off to our self, the lighting, the music, the gorgeous food, and the server Courtney attending to our every need. Every last bit bursting with taste and surprise, but my favorite part of the meal was the main course (steak) Carni con osso cooked to perfect medium rare.
I spent 18 months in southern Italy between 1980 and 81. This restaurant brought back some magnificent memories. Felicia was an outstanding server and the chef was extraordinary. What a fantastic experience tonight. I will definitely come back to this restaurant! Well done!!

First of all, look at that garden! You can tell that they care about the ingredients going into the food. For being smack-dab in the middle of town, they grow quite a bit of veggies and herbs that literally only have to travel (I counted the steps)30 to 50 feet to your plate. I could seriously go on and on about the wonderful, eco-friendly garden, but let's get to the food...
First of all, the service here is absolutely wonderful. I'm not exactly a "normal" person and neither is my wife, but we were still treated like we were royalty. We chose to skip the antipasto and go straight to the soup since winter decided to pop back in. This soup was everything we could have asked for, good broth, red wined braised beef, new potatoes, fresh herbs, and just a bit of fresh black pepper. Great balance. Then the dinner...
I need to find out where James gets his seafood because the mussels I had were full of the sea, the clams were nearly alive, the shrimp melted-in-mouth, with an absolutely delicious red cream sauce infused with rosemary.
Then, the dessert:tirimisu. THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE!
Great service, wonderful atmosphere and food was fantastic! I had the Garden vegetable linguine and loved it. I would highly recommend.
Absolutely divine experience from the atmosphere, to the staff, and especially the food. Chef James does an amazing job of pairing and creating incredible choices making it difficult to choose a favorite. Unbelievably good!

The food was high quality and the service was wonderful! I loved having a meal in the historic home That I posted a picture of last night. We had about 15 in our party so it was just a little crowded and we had to ask them to crank up the air conditioner! They immediately took care of that. So all was good! If it wasn't for being a bit crowded while we dined I would give it a 10!
I scored it 9 out of 10! Still very enjoyable!! I highly recommend if you love Italian and are in Springfield, MO!

Wonderful meal to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We only go here for special occasions but they never disappoint.
Had the shark and it was amazing. The Swiss chard was really good, had never had it before and really enjoyed it. The chocolate cake was out of this world. One of the best deserts I have ever had.
Well done James' Gang!. Awesome food, personable staff, friendly and committed owner, equals great dining experience! If you haven't been, it's definitely worth the visit. It's also very impressive to see what this place is doing with their community garden and rain water harvesting.
Grey Gables at Gilardis. The polenta and red pepper hummas were both very tasty. The organic garden is a nice addition and the Grey Gables building is a great place for a small party.
Delicious, fresh Italian food. They grow most of their own produce right on their grounds. A wonderful place for a special occasion.
Best Italian Restaurant in Springfield. This place is awesome! The owner-operator is always on hand and knows how to run a successful restaurant. The chef and bartender are some of the best in the city. But the food and drink is what will keep you coming back.
Intimate and excellent. My daughter and I ate here during a college visit. She isn't going to college there but I almost wish she would so we could dine here more often! It was excellent. Lovely experience.

Great atmosphere, even better food!. Small, charming restaurant with lots of character-not your cookie cutter chain or a large, cavernous room. Outstanding, attentive service.
My gnocchi was topped with some of the best meat sauce I've had in a long time. The kitchen had no problem customizing my order by adding some grilled Italian sausage. The gnocchi was light rather than the heavy type that leave you bloated and uncomfortable after a large meal. Really enjoyable! My guest enjoyed tortellini as well.
I hope I have the opportunity to visit Springfield again soon.

This the most amazing Italian rest. I have ever been to. Food was delicious and authentic. The owner was so nice. My friend who uses a wheelchair had a hard time parking in the accessible parking spot and a hardrime getting tjrough the front door. The owner came out and appologized and asked for suggestions on how to make it more accessible. He said that he was going to make the changes right away. I know he will too because he was very appologetic and sincere
The BEST Italian in the city! Food is authentic, the service is amazing, drinks are perfect, good wine selection. Real Italian feel in a real Italian atmosphere.
