I started dining here in 2009. My wife would frequently bring food home for the family.
Why FIVE stars? Simple...great consistent food EVERY time. I'm sure we've purchased over 50 meals here.
Excellent customer service. The Tang Family has always treated us great.
Thank you for the many years of GREAT Chinese food and friendship!
Yummy. The potstickers are the best Ive had. The eggdrop soup can be a meal in its self. I like the cashew chicken, even if its not traditional chinese...its tasty, and a great value for the money!
Love it! The food is great. The only thing I would like to see change is their refill policy. This is one of the only places that still charges for refills.
Cashew Chicken w/Rice Special. I attended college at Evangel in Springfield during the cashew chicken craze in the mid 80's & developed a true love for "Springfield style" cashew chicken. There was a little drive thru Chinese restaurant that we would eat at nearly ever Sunday night because the cafeteria wasn't opened on Sunday evening. That place was bulldozed down, much to my dismay, but after a visit to Springfield (I live about 4 hours away) a short time later I discovered Hong Kong Inn's cashew chicken...we go there at least once every time we visit the area now (at least once or twice a year). We once even drove 4 hours, had their amazing cashew chicken, went to Bass Pro, then drove back home...all in one day. There are Chinese restaurants where I live that advertise "Springfield-style cashew chicken" but they are not even close! Keep up the good work HKI!! You have fans in St. Louis!
#1 Chinese in Springfield!. Well, that's MY opinion anyway! #27 with all white meat (that's the Sesame Chicken) and an order of crab rangoon and you're set!
Good times. So many good memories, and great food.
Seaseme Chicken is the best in Springfield!! Nothing else comes close!
Great Cheap Chinese Food!!. When travel takes you anywhere through Springfield plan on stopping. Food is great, well portioned, and well priced! No overpriced buffet! After you order, you sit down with your number and they deliver it to you on real plates. I always get the spicy chicken with all white meat. Comes with fried rice. Drive through is also very convenient. They opened a new restaurant on Sunshine I think which is also good.
Best Chinese in town for the price! I recommend the pot stickers (ask for crispy). it's a good change from an egg roll.
A MUST. So, if you know anything about Springfield and Chinese Food, you know there are TONS of chinese food places here, and they are all outstanding, well, most, but ever since the cashew chicken craze that was first created here in Springfield, you can't find Chinese food like here! Hong Kong Inn, Specifically the one on North Glenstone is WELL WORTH IT... Chicken Fried Rice is awesome, egg rolls are outstanding, cashew chicken... it's all good... get all white meat, it's worth the extra dollar.
Chicken is hot and fresh, offer all white or all dark. Cashew Chicken is good, but brown sauce could be more flavorful. Generals Chicken is again good but a solid 7 out of 10 since it has NO sweetness. It tasted like a spicy brown sauce.
Fried wantons are good as well. All good was hot and there was a line out into the street to get in on a Tuesday evening.
Good Chinese a cheap price. This is by far the best Hong Kong Inn out of the three. Yeah ask for extra sauce on the side they'll get it for you of course you'll have to pay for it at the Kearney Street location you cannot do this. They fix your dish anyway you'd like have to pay for it but that's to be expected. One the best tasting egg rolls in town. And if they get busy they'll start a double line on the cars to get all orders in and processed and have a lot of cooks in the kitchen to prepare the meals. A highly recommend this place if you're looking for a Chinese meal.
I've been eating here as long as I can remember. I came here as a little girl and I'm in my 40's now. It's my comfort food and I stop in here every time I come home. It's actually the first stop I make when we get into town. It's old and very dated, but it's the best imo. My husband who is born and raised in Chicago is also big fan of their cashew chicken springfield style.
