One of the few restaurants in State College for fine dining. Four of us had steaks. They were cooked perfectly. I had the prime rib. The atmosphere was very nice since they completely renovated last year.

The Tavern has reopened and it is better than ever! We happened to be in State College on one of their openings nights and so we thought we would give The “new” Tavern a try. I don’t usually write reviews but The Tavern deserves to be recognized. It has a fresh new look that still maintains the traditions and nostalgia of the past. The Tavern’s updated menu has something for everyone…with options ranging from salads to seafood to pasta and beef which is locally sourced. Plus there are fresh new side options to choose from on the menu. Everyone in my group of six said their appetizers, entrees and sides were cooked to perfection and delicious! The desserts are amazing too! The service at the bar and our table was excellent. In my opinion, The Tavern now has the best food and service in State College. In addition to that, it is worth going just to see all the amazing PSU photos and memorabilia and have a drink at one of their new bars including an upstairs outdoor bar! There are fun new cocktails on the drink menu plus a few old favorites like the Original Sin. The Tavern and Adam’s Apple have always been special places but they are truly incredible now! It is a must go to when in State College for a visit.
Everything we had was exceptional. Instead of the appetizers list we wanted a side of the brussel sprouts to start, which turned it to be a great opener. The mahi tuna, cooked to taste & spinach salad.
A well decorated bathroom always amuses me and I liked the art in this one 😁😊😆
Best food I have had in a long time. It is a very down to earth atmosphere with friendly staff and amazing food. I got the tavern wagyu burger and my wife got the shaved prime rib sandwich. Both where cooked to absolute perfection. We also both got a bowl of the Beef and Barley soup which was to die for!!! We will more than likely be back.
This is a must stop in Happy Valley 😊. Even a typical meal has an amazing taste and twist to it. Yum yum. If you're more adventurous enjoy the more unique side of the menu, I recommend it. 👌. Philly egg rolls is a must. The veal is heaven and any red meat sauce pasta is great. There are a few sides the the restaurant too (bar, balcony, couches 🛋, patio etc. I'll be back.
This place has always been unmatched. I made it back finally after the renovation and you will not be disappointed!! The building is stunning. The food is amazing. The wait staff is absolutely wonderful. This is a must for anyone visiting state college!
Very cool place to stop in and eat at. Filled with tons of vintage photos of Penn State athletics. The staff in this place is first class! The fireplaces add a warm ambiance to your dining experience. I would definitely go back.
