Review El Jefe Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar - Stevensville

We came here for lunch one Saturday. The service and food were wonderful! I got the Nachos Grande and my husband had the Steak and Chicken Fajitas. Really lively atmosphere and our waitress was fantastic! It's one of our favorite local restaurants.

Extremely busy, but didn't feel crowded because it was a large dining room and bar. With a party of 12 we expected a long wait for our food because every table in the place was full, but all of us were served the correct orders in about 25 minutes! All hot and delicious! Prices were great for the large amount of food we received. Staff was helpful explaining different dishes and friendly. Will definitely visit again!

The atmosphere of a Mexican restaurant is an integral part of a good Mexican meal. This place needs to work on the atmosphere. The music is NOT Mexican and that diminishes the experience. Also not having a dynamic service brings it down. There's no host to greet people and lead them to their table and that sets the tone for the rest of the meal. Fortunately the quality of the food and the speed of service make up for the other shortcomings. It's delicious and most importantly nowadays, it's well priced. This is the place for a good meal, and with a little work could be an excellent Mexican restaurant instead of a great place to get Mexican food... there's a difference

My family & I have dined in, ordered take-out & enjoyed a party in the party room. Restaurant is clean, staff is very polite & attentive, & the food is AMAZING!!! We are pretty picky & this is 1 of the 3 places we get food from on the island.

The quality of food is usually very good. Taco salad is one of my favorites. They have a great selection of beers and liquors to taste. They are located right off the highway, easy to get to. Customer service is consistently above average.

Freshly made chips, strong drinks, fresh ingredients all around. The tacos were phenomenal and they have plenty of different tacos to pick from. My wife loved her steak fajitas and the restaurant was clean. Definitely would come back and glad to find a place to eat on the eastern shore besides Italian and seafood.

Almost every Tuesday we visit for dinner and it's the best Mexican food in town. It's not anything over the top, just a simple tradition menu and for a very fair price. Usually it's easy to get a table with no wait and the staff is very friendly and kind. They are quick to get your orders in and the food comes out even faster. The food is always well seasoned and tasteful though sometimes the steak or chicken comes out very well done. I usually don't recommend them and suggest the pork, shrimp and fish. They have always been cooked right, especially the pork, it's a favorite of mine. The birria tacos are very good also and highly recommended when they are available. Anyone looking for a drink with a punch the house margaritas will do it. They don't hold back so they can be a bit rough to drink but if you're looking for a good kick for cheap that's the best thing to get outside of a straight shot of tequila 😅. If you go in on certain days they are on sale for only $3.50 each, that's a fantastic deal. Outside of typical dine in and bar aspects they hold all kinds of fun events for adults and kids from live music nights to costume parties to Easter egg painting. There's always something going on for everyone at El Jefe making it one of my favorite places to goto in town.

This place speaks for itself. The staff is amazing I can repeat that 20 times The wait for food wasn't long at all 15 minutes top Both Jessica's are great women that work hard makes your day so much easier just off greeting you like "what would you like to drink or eat" They can also tell when there are faces in town The salsa and chips was delicious 😋 the chips were still warm that how crisps and fresh they were I will be back and bringing a great crowd of good friends to show how wonderful of a time we all can have at this lovely and delicious place

Nice lunch spot or place to go for happy hour. The food is good, but not the best as far as Mexican cuisine goes (and trust me, I’ve tried a lot of places). The food has improved over the years, though

El Jefe is such a great option for delicious Mexican food at Stevensville, great service and ambience!! We love it!!! I would absolutely recommend!!

I had a surprise 40th birthday party for my husband. We have always lived on the shore and there's multiple places to choose from. I couldn't have chosen a better place for his birthday. We had it in the pool table room, buffet style and it was awesome!! The staff was amazing, we never needed to ask for anything to be refilled. Even the bartender (Ferg) came around to make sure everybody was good on their drinks on his down time! I didn't have to worry about any of the planning, setting up, or taking down. Sarah even went as far as to get balloons and decorate . Sarah did such an amazing job from start to finish and she was juggling two other parties. The only thing I had to worry about is making sure I was socializing with the guest. I can't thank you guys enough!

First time here. Looks like typical mexican bar. Service was prompt. Staff were friendly and courteous. Plenty of seating. A pool room. Food was served quickly and was delicious and piping hot. Will return again. We had Super Nachos | Steak and Chicken Fajitas | Carnitas Quesadilla.

We have been several times and the service just keeps declining each time.. Waiting to be seated when the restaurant is nearly empty, asking a waiter if we can seat ourselves to be told no, then wait longer to be seated , watching waitstaff argue on the floor while customers are seated with no drinks, waitress brings drinks with meals never to return to check on us walks by drops bill , not even a thank you . This was our last visit sorry to say.

I would walk a thousand miles to eat at El Jefe. I go to Towson University and no other restaurant EVER has lived up to the expectations of El Jefe. The chicken fajitas are to die for!!! I get either the chicken or the steak fajitas. The fried Oreos are also a must! And who doesn't love free fresh salsa and chips?! 😍 El Jefe is definitely a must! You will not be disappointed!

Chips and salsa best I have had the draft beer is always fresh tasting and the food is always good

I just got a seafood burrito and it was the worst I have ever had it was cold and so fishy I could not eat it. The nachos grande with taco meat tasted like I bought it from tacobell it takes a lot for me to post but after $53 I have to

One of the best meals I've had in a very long time! The taste of fresh ingredients make this a winning restaurant! Our server, Maria was top notch, too! Great service, no need to go over the bridge anymore!

Excelente comida y un trato espectacular, y el lugar muy acojedor y para los camioneros tenemos parqueo ,y podemos pasar la noche.

The food was great! Service very good! Margaritas were not that good. But we will return. I wish their Margaritas were as good as Chevy's in Annapolis
