This is an amazing place. Lines are out the door. My sister-n-law got me the lemon tart, really good. The Brownie was just ok. I went back the next morning and got their bread pudding. I haven't tried it yet, but I did have their apple strudel and it is amazing. My wife had the maple bar, also amazing.
My coffee was perfect! I shared a scone with blueberries and a strawberry cream cheese turnover with my best friend. We agreed that the texture of the turnover was heavenly. The scone wasn't dried out like some scones are. It had so much flavor! I'm going to get us donuts next time. They are HUGE, look delicious and they are so fresh. Can't wait to go back!
The line was long early in the morning. But they had the donuts we were looking for which made it worth it. Not much else to compete with in sunriver unless you drive to bend. Donuts were good and large with the classic maple, chocolate, and sprinkle options. Nothing exotic like mochi or weird fillings but good classic donuts. And donut holes. Also had coffee, sandwiches, and cakes.

I had a wonderful experience working with the staff and owner of Hot Lava Bakery. I contacted them through their website to place an order for a number “cake” and cupcakes for a 50th anniversary get together we were having for my grandparents. The staff and owner were very responsive via email and really helpful with the suggestions on what I could order. Everyone was impressed with how beautiful the number cake was and how great it tasted! I’m really happy with the whole process.

Wonderful little bakery and cafe in Sunriver with accommodating and kind staff propel this establishment to the upper echelon! The big foot doughnuts are just the cherry on top! Well worth the visit!
Such a fantastic little bakery! We ate here two mornings during our Sunriver trip and I was sad I didn’t get a chance to try every one of their delicious pastries. Breakfast sandwiches were good, but the turnovers and scones were AMAZING! I’m always on the lookout for an amazing scone and the pecan cranberry scone exceeded all my expectations. We also loved the fruit smoothies (make sure to get some sugar in it, as it’s straight fruit!). One thing to note is that it is very small and there is super limited seating inside, so unless it’s summer and you want to sit outdoors, you should probably plan to take your food to go.
Wonderful custom cake! We ordered a vanilla cake with chocolate butter cream frosting and a butter cream frosting inside layer. Delicious! We were visiting from Seattle and celebrating a birthday here. Amazingly, in Seattle it’s been hard to find a cake maker with a cake that actually tastes sweet and delicious! The cake we got at the Hot Lava Bakery exceeded our expectations! Kudos to the baker there, and thanks for the wonderful dessert!
Very convenient in the Sunriver village and nice to support a local spot. The pastries were large and fresh. We ordered breakfast sandwiches as well and they were warm and filling. They had all the coffee options hot and cold. We were in early so there was no wait at the counter.
