We ordered three pizzas for take out! We waited about 40 minutes, but the restaurant was packed... not a bad wait for Surf City. To our surprise, the topping on the pizza are baked underneath the cheese! So, if you open up your pizza box and see a cheese pizza, the toppings are actually just underneath! The overall taste was very good. It's like eating a classy pizza. Very yummy. Would go again.

Wow what a wonderful hole in the wall spot. Two people who ran this whole place very short staffed but they did well with communicating Wait times the lady that took care of us. God bless her. She got our drinks out fast took our orders fast got our food out fast she was amazing . We had no issues whatsoever we would’ve had no idea they were short staffed as fast as food was coming out. Last week of summer before school starts it’s to be expected when you hire teenagers. Would have left more stars but the manager of the place instead of being inside helping the only two servers they had was sitting down on the front porch gossiping on the phone about how bad service was that night. SMH.
Delicious pizza!! The classic cheese pizza with yummy sauce and flavor. We went twice during our week long stay in Surf City. Would definitely recommend!
Been coming here for over 30 yrs. Just moved back after being gone and was not disappointed. The burgers were great, a little smaller than I remembered. The service was was FANTASTIC! Thank you Alexa for a wonderful dinner. Good Luck at UNCW! Beer was cold, small glasses (wink wink).
We stopped in on Sunday evening in April. It wasn’t too crowded and we got a table right away. The space has a mix of tables and booths. Our server was friendly. We ordered the garlic cheese curds, two pizzas and an Italian sub for the table. The cheese curds were lightly breaded and served with warm marinara sauce. Both pizzas were very good and had generous amounts of toppings. I wasn’t sure about the Italian sub as it came with a runny/watery sauce on it, but it was very tasty. We will definitely be back.
Great locally owned pizza/Italian restaurant. The hand tossed pizza is fantastic. Is by far my personal favorite. I have dined in and takeout at Max’s and the food is always good with the exception of a few times the pizza was over baked. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 due to staff could be it bit more friendly on the phone when taking orders and when greeting customers.
I ordered a pepperoni pizza and when I got it I was confused on why there was only one pepperoni on the pizza. I told the waitress that I ordered a pepperoni pizza, she told me that the ingredients are underneath the cheese and that whatever is on top of the pizza is an indicator for the person who cuts and delivers/serves the pizza so they can tell the pizzas apart. It was very interesting and much different than any other pizza restaurant that I've been to. So, if you want the toppings ON TOP of your pizza, tell your waitress/waiter!! So you don't get confused like it did😂 other than that, great food, excellent service, beautiful vibes. Definitely coming back here again with my friends and family!!
The Steak 🥩 subs are excellent, the steak 🥩 is seasoned to perfection. The pizza 🍕 is good, homemade pizza dough and sauce. The sweet tea is amazing. Service was excellent.

We ordered take out pizza. Called ahead around 6p for 4 pizzas and were quoted about 1 hour. Did some grocery shopping and arrived about 50 minutes later, pizzas ready to go! Pepperoni and the house special were our choices. Definitely a hit! The house special with all the toppings was sooo good! The dining area was packed as well. Great place!
The staff was stretched thin. Far better than sitting in a pizza hut. A full parking lot says it all.

This is one of the OG places in Surf City. We were lucky to find a time to walk in and grab a table. The staff is super friendly and the place has a great old school atmosphere. I had the steak and cheese that was delicious. My wife had a small house special pizza. You can see from the photo that they don't skimp on the toppings. She loved it. If you are in the area, stop by and check them out.
Yum yum. Talk about the best steak and cheese subs on Topsail island and the kiddos love the cheese pizza. It was so worth going and definitely worth going back to again. The staff was super friendly and made sure you had plenty to drink with your meal. Look them up online for menu items..dine in or carry-out your choice. But trust me dine in was my first choice.
This place was recommended by several locals, and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff and super speedy service combined with excellent pizza (their sauce is the bomb!) made this a place we will have to visit again.
We eat here every year on vacation. This is one of the best spots for a family to eat. They make excellent homemade pizza and subs. At busy times, larger parties will have to wait on the benches outside, but it is worth the wait!
Pizza was very good and fresh. We got cheese, pepperoni and a veggie. The veggie could have cooked for a few more minutes, I would order it well done next time.
