A close friend of ours threw a birthday party for his wife and the original catering company never showed up. In a panic we started calling around to see if any Mexican restaurant would be willing to save us and help us feed 40 hungry people. The owner of Rivas accepted the challenge and asked for an hour to get it all done. When we arrived to pick up the food we were shocked to see ONE man in the kitchen cooking up an absolute storm. His nephew was working the front counter but this man made all of our food in under an hour by himself. It was absolutely incredible to watch. We had three trays full of meat, a tray of beans, a tray of rice, fresh tortillas, multiple containers of salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and any other toppings you could imagine. He was so gracious and kind and we thanked him profusely for saving the party. The food was delicious and everyone was so impressed at how well it turned out. Rivas will always have my business now. Not only do they make amazing food but the staff is amazing too.
Overall had a good experience. Had the carne asada fries; the carne asada was flavorful, but the thick cut fries drowned out the flavor a bit. I wouldn’t say they’re the best in the Surprise area, but the food certainly wasn’t bad. The interior is very well kept with welcoming decor and the salsa bar is clean.

There wasnt anything we ordered that wasn't amazing. The beef burritos, rolled tacos, rice, beans and chips & salsa were an explosion of flavor.
Walking in, we knew it was going to be delicious just based on the smells. The kitchen and counter staff were pleasant and most helpful.
So glad we came in. Definitely a lot of food for the price. I have to make this a regular stop.
The menu at this location is amazing. One of the only places I know that you can find a Sonoran dog. The menu is a delight to the stomach

The young man at the window is always so polite. We've had the chance to see him grow up over the past couple years. Very cool.

Freshest and best tostado shell I have had . I am visiting from the Midwest so I like to try different restaurants. Didn't disappoint! Nice young man at drive thru window .
This was my first visit here, and my first impression happens to be very good 👍🏽 ☺️. I truly enjoyed my experience. By the way, I ordered the Carne asada fries, and if you have not tried them, you absolutely should! With that said adios amigos...

I previously (7 years ago) gave a 1 Star review. I've since figured out that if I go in and order instead of the drive thru there are no problems. I've gone 5 times and every visit was OUTSTANDING. I also make a point to make sure my order is understood which is easier in person than from a car. I regret I can't give them 6 stars!
