There are diners and then there's Rise N Shine that takes it a step higher. I have been here on multiple occasions and I have yet to ever come out disappointed or hungry! Delicious, filling, and absolutely reasonably priced! Friendly staff to boot! If you're looking for a great place for breakfast, I cannot recommend this place enough! I am so glad I found out about it because it's been my go-to ever since. :)
This is by far the best diner in Syracuse... unique & delicious menu, friendly staff, patio dining in the summer & their "text when the table is ready" feature is amazing! It's fantastic food in small space & is worth every penny.
Would have not chosen any other place for my birthday breakfast today The only diner around that offers Gluten Free pancake options, I had the GF cinnamon and sugar pancakes this morning- they were amazing!! I highly recommend that everyone checks this place out
This is the place to go. Our server was on point and the food is top notch. Chicken Cordon Bleu.
My fiance got the hot chocolate which was SO aesthetically pleasing (and delicious) and I had the cinnamon roll pancakes which were the best of all time. Yes, it's small and the table by the door is a bit of bad place to sit but honestly the place is awesome.
So, if you have had it with half assed places making sketchy food, you need to come here. They are cooking breakfast and other treats with one foot outside the box. In a town where it seems everyone is cooking food and its just not good, there this place, crushing it. Adding this to my tiny list of places to eat in Syracuse. Well done.
Went to the diner for the first time on Saturday. Had the bacon cinnamon bun sandwich. The staff was helpful answering any questions we had, and the food was to DIE FOR!!! Have already told a bunch of people about this place, and I am definitely planning on coming back!!
Awesome breakfast menu and the staff is personable and friendly. I've been searching for a good place to go for breakfast and Rise n Shine is it.
Great place, great staff and amazing food. It’s worth the wait.
Great breakfast/menu choices. Wait staff very efficient and personable; Hats off to Danielle, owner as well as the wait and cook staff 👍👍
This place is amazing. The crazy pancake combination you have as a child are the normal here. This will be our new family breakfast place.
Delicious! My husband and I stopped through while passing through town and sang, if I lived in Syracuse I’d be down here every day! Especially for those with a love of breakfast food and/or a serious sweet tooth, this place is absolutely great. Their menu had so many totally amazing sounding options that it was nearly impossible to choose! Not only was the selection of breakfast foods great, but their milkshakes were to die for. I got the salted caramel milk shake and, in addition to looking entirely Instagram-worthy, it was beyond a doubt one of the best milkshakes I’ve had in a long, long while. In fact, all of my order was fantastic, and everything was picturesque, even the quaint restaurant decor. Though the building looks rather unassuming from the outside, inside the decorations are eccentric and vibrant in the best of ways, giving a more modern, fun take on the classic diner. Even the waitstaff fit with the theme of being fun and energetic- everyone was super friendly, and the staff was all very respectful of my service dog and disabilities.
The only real complaint is nothing to do with the actual workings of the restaurant, and really in my book hardly counts as a complaint at all. Namely, the actual building is pretty small, and is a little hard to find. The actual restaurant is very small, so I imagine it can get pretty busy in there during peak hours! As far as I can tell, there isn’t a particularly direct way to pull into the parking lot from the road. You have to duck in through a sudden entrance to a parking lot and make your way around several car part and repair stores to find the outwardly unassuming looking little building. Parking was a little bit scarce, especially for larger vehicles, though we were able to easily park in the next lot over without problems. The building, on the bright side, was every disability friendly, with no difficult steps and wide enough aisles to easily move around with mobility devices.
In total- this place was a really cool find, I wish I could eat here every day and try every breakfast, and I totally recommend going in and giving the milkshakes or hot cocoas a try, if nothing else!!
Stop here on a work weekend, it came up on a search figured I'd give it a try. Had a bit of a wait before being seated but it is worth it, the food was great. The decor is awesome, the staff lovely and on top of service. The veggies served with my omelette looked garden fresh everything was spiced right (not heavy handed), it was light and not greasy and just tasted awesome. Worth stopping in if you driving through or live close by and haven't checked it out yet.
I don't know what was better, the food or the service. My waitress Brianna was AMAZING. The BEST waitress I've encountered in a long time, accommodating, friendly, helpful and so positive! Made brunch a fantastic experience.
Came in at 12:30PM on Saturday and the place was PACKED. We were told it would be an hour wait but 15 minutes later was told that they had available seats at the counter, there were only two of us so maybe that's why it was easy to seat us. Place is smaller than I expected with only a few tables.
Food: we both got the two x two x two platters. I substituted buckwheat pancakes instead of having the regular ones at no additional charge and my coworker upgraded to the mochi banana strawberry waffles. Food was good and excuted perfectly but mine wasn't all that special. My co-worker's mochi waffles were awesome though.
This is such a great diner! We had tried to get in for breakfast during a school break week but it was packed (45+min wait) so we tried the next week and it was TOTALLY worth it. We arrived around 9:15 and didn't have to wait. I had the chicken and waffles with a side of loaded home fries, my wife had banana foster French toast. We both felt that it was the best breakfast place we had ever been to. Looking forward to going again. Place is small, however, there is an area to sit outside when the weather is nice.
Excellent! Wide variety of creative choices for pancakes, waffles, french toast and classics. The brownie waffle Ala mode was fantastic as was the cinnamon roll french toast with sautéed apples. Red velvet waffles, Boston creme pie pancakes, cannoli pancakes, Black forest pancakes.... all fantastic.
They just need a bigger place because it's ALWAYS a packed house.
We travelled to Rise N Shine from Rochester for a new breakfast experiance. Thankfully when we went, I wasnt driving and I was on the lookout for the diner, as it was hidden away behind a valvoline oil. Please be aware.
When we parked, it was pretty full in the lot to walk in and lo and behold... the diner is tiny! There is not a lot of seating. The host stand is as soon as you walk in the door i.e. its the literal entry. Its not really even a typical host stand. So its very weird. But the hostess checked us in and we waited outside, though I dont think thats possible during the winter and we are getting pretty close.
The staff was very friendly. If I am rating them, it would be a 5 out of 5. When we sat down they gave us a few minutes took our drink order, we had a question about the menu and then we just ordered it right then. So that was pretty good.
When the food came, I was a little disappointed. The chicken and waffles come in sandwich form for some reason. I dont know why it wasnt open face. I had to disassemble the messy sandwich and do that myself. I really would like to know if anyone eats it as a sandwich because they must be able to dislodge their jaw.
Their special was a pancaked rolled with eggs, corned beef hash and other specialties. It looked massive but was mostly pancake.
Overall the food was kind of bland and didnt pack a flavor punch, it was decent and something you could probably make at home. I.e. the waffle tasted like a waffle mix thrown together and put on the waffle iron. Thats fine, but I would expect to get a homemade belgian waffle.
Overall, dont think we would ever travel to here again. It was good but not over an hour drive. If I lived in syracus, I would go more often.
The price for 2 breakfast w/water only was a little less than 25. It wasnt too expensive, the price was about right.
Hard to decide what to order with all the choices. What we got was so good. Could have done without the 2 hour wait. Did like the fact they texted when your table was ready ended up shopping for awhile to kill time. The staff was very friendly. They need a bigger place for all the business they do.
Delicious! SO many options, could eat here everyday for weeks before running out of options. Quality food & quality customer service. Better than mother’s cupboard down the street.
How do I even begin! The hype is real! I enjoyed this restaurant and all of its contents. Come hungry and you then you can spend all your money and try everything. Just a thought. The portions were huge and each dish was pretty dang creative! If you whine about long waits, go somewhere else. They take their time with each patron and that's how it should be. If you're not okay with that go to Denny's. Highly recommended!
This place is insane! Great food, great service and pretty sweet prices for the amount of food you get. The milkshakes are intense! They taste great and look incredible! Service is also awesome considering how busy it can get!! Highly recommend!
Wish I lived closer to the Rise N Shine. Been here twice and both times exceptional. Wait staff is great. Very nice menu and breakfasts are tops. Hash was very very good. Not too salty. Eggs, bacon, sausage and french toast all excellent as was the coffee. Two thumbs up.
Amazing food! The short wait is worth it for the food you get. My wife had the French Press French Toast, not only was the presentation amazing, it was delicious. I had the Quasadilla Breakfast Waffle. It's exactly what you think it would be; and it was incredible.
Awesome food. My sister and I ordered half the breakfast menus. Can't go wrong here. Great service. Expect a bit of a wait on weekends
Great little place wonderful food and staff we enjoyed our breakfast was so good.very tasty and nice portion lots flavor. Fast service very pleasant . clean nice atmosphere. Will be returning.
A little hole in the wall but great food and good service. I had the Big Daddy and it was too much food. My friend had the 2 by 2 by 2 which was too much food for her and her husband had hash and eggs. I'd recommend a hot chocolate if you like them.
We almost missed it because the building sits back off the road behind a Valvoline, FYI. Ample parking, looks crazy tiny from the outside, walking in it's small but cozy! We went on a very very very busy Friday morning and took the only open table left. Seating was pretty cramped but worked. Our server was covering the whole floor alone but still managed to keep our coffee cups full and was getting everyone's food out as soon as it hit the window, we were impressed! She was working her butt off that morning but still attentive, friendly and smiling her way around the restaurant! My eggs came perfectly medium, as ordered, the sausage was a delicious surprise and the bacon was crispy as were the home fries. My husband got a Benny plate and I'm pretty sure inhaled it, he loved it and raved about the hollandaise. We also split a pancake with strawberries and whipped cream which was giant and a yummy post breakfast treat. Everything was great! We will definitely be back again.
Love this place. The food is amazing and they have gluten free options. Our waitress was extremely friendly. I find that a great quality. Especially considering how busy they are. There is usually a wait but this is one of the few places I would say the wait is worth it. I really like that they take your cell phone number and let you wait in your car. They text you when your table is available.
Love this place! It’s small and homey but very small. They will text you when your table is ready which I thought was neat. Lots of unique items on the menu, the French toast breakfast sandwich was great!
