The decor could use an update- then again maybe not; it's a very charming and eclectic place. That being said, the food is great. In addition the service is top notch. Highly recommended for someone looking for good food at a great place. If your concerned with the lack of new furniture it may be a good idea for you to go to Denny's or McD's.

Still in business. I saw on Urbanspoon where someone had reported this restaurant as possibly being closed. We went there this AM for breakfast.

Pancakes are awesome however i learned from the girl sitting next to us you can order a smaller version i recommend to do that if you aren't a big eater or want something more than pancakes. My fiance had the fritatta he enjoyed it as well

Come Hungry. This place has an amazing atmosphere & even better food. My sister would call this a greasy spoon & that's the best kind of place to eat breakfast. For less than $20, 2 people will have enough food for 2-3 meals cooked fresh in front of you anyway you want it. The pancakes are bigger than an average dinner plate, over 12 inches in diameter! Home fries, you get about a pound on your plate along with the eggs, meat, toast, etc. You can't leave here hungry & the food stays with you.

If you leave this place hungry, it's not Motha's fault. This place has enormous portions of food servings. The food is good and at a reasonable price. I recommend you try it.

Great Diner. Serive is fast and friendly and the food is always great. With the open kitchen you can see the cook preparing your food and it's impressive to watch him move. The half fritatta is possibly the best in the city, but I've never finished it. The only down side is the ventilation isn't very good so when you leave, you still smell like a diner, which isn't always a bad thing. I would recommend showering afterwards.

Great little diner. Super prices! The three egg omelet and their frittatas, eggsellent! Huge portions, served fast, hot and tasty. Prices are very easy on the wallet! The "pancake" us a foot wide or better!

While cross border shopping the boyfriend had a massive pancake craving so we headed to Mother's Cupboard in Syracuse, NY. Not only are the pancakes larger than the plates they're served on, the frittatas are so big they come with their own challenge. If you manage to down the six pound hash brown, broccoli, sausage, pepperoni, onions and pepper monstrosity you'll win a t-shirt and a spot on the wall of champions. The boyfriend was able to finish a chocolate chip pancake and an order of french toast while I picked at a half order of the famous frittata. If you go, Mother's is open till 1:30pm and cash only - come hungry.

I almost drove right by this place without even noticing.... The sad thing is if you do you won't even have the opportunity to realize your regret. I've ate at far more expensive restaurants in the area, far better decorated, far more seating, better parking situation.... But you go out to eat for the food and the service and the atmosphere. It was the best food in town, it won't break the bank, and everyone is friendly and warm and helpful. I will say the menu does misdirect you a little. Right on the front it tells you you can't eat the whole frittata and to get a half...... No normal human can eat the half either and I have my doubts about the quarter, but the amount of food you bring home should feed you for up to a week depending on what size you get. Frankly I'm just sad I didn't go here sooner.

I did not know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this! Very cozy but chaotic inside. Service was stellar, food arrived lightning fast and was presented very nicely. Well worth the visit! Cash only, so plan ahead!

The food is AMAZING (especially the 'cuse Macmother)! There was NOTHING on the menu disappointing and all reasonably priced. The staff is friendly, attentive and the atmosphere is one that reminds you of being with family! Also spacious and comfortable despite how deceptively small it looks from outside. I drove up from NYC (4 hrs from the Bronx) to visit my brother and this place is soooo amazing I'd drive round trip just for the meal! 😁

Tried this spot on a whim. We all found it to be delicious. That pancake did not disappoint. Daughter got a Monte Cristo no ham... She loved it. My cousin and I each got omelets... Also stuffed and huge. They were slammed and overwhelmed... But food still came fresh and hot. Got multiple coffee refills... I would love to try the loaded potato omelet next time with a splash of hot sauce.

First time visiting and we will definitely be back! It was about a 30 min wait for a table and it was worth it! We decided to get a few dishes and share, the fruit pebble french toast was super sweet but delicious! Super large portions, and everything was delicious!

Stopped at this place for grab and go breakfast. I was happy I did. I had the Macmother and home fries. I can't wait to try the pancakes. This will definitely be my go to spot. It's affordable as well. A little more diversity will make this spot more welcoming. The woman who took my order was very pleasant.

Great Diner Experience! These folks have breakfast down to a fine art. Bit of a wait...but all great places have a line up...and for a reason.

I have a lot to say. If you want the short version, good food, friendly staff.. now here is the Long version. Places like this are fewer and fewer.. The building is small, they only take cash, but you know what? It's the American dream to own something you built up from the bottom. I read many of the reviews and they baffled me. Yes, it's not a five star resturant, but you aren't paying those prices either. The staff was incredibly friendly, they kept our drinks full, the portions were huge, so you could easily get two meals out of it. It was a complete diagonal slice of society, guys in ties, people that looked like bikers, minorities, families, etc. All welcome and well fed by the time they left. I had a half frittatta that I split with someone.. amazing. The potatoes were chunks, not hashed, and very good. So give this place a try. They care, and it shows. Thank you for your time.

It looks small from the outside, but is amazing the people that go through here during breakfast !! Cooked at the grill, on the spot !! Great people, super food, and you !! 31 Jan.... in again today !! Quiet today, but very nice ! Got a chance to talk with the owner and good to see the staff taking it a bit easier !!

Whatever other low rating said, but I think food is what's important. I ordered a frittata Omelet, the flavor of the food pops. I admit when I arrive, the shack looks a little weird, but never judge the book by its cover. I am sure when I got another chance to visit this town, I will come for the breakfast again.

What more could you ask for? As greasy a spoon as I've ever been to and I loved every second of it Also the workers here are real cut ups so you get food and entertainment!! Talk about a winning combination

Everything about this little joint is amazing. Sitting at the bar watching the cook work is so much fun. Giant pancakes that melt in your mouth. Cash only. Service is decently quick and and kind. Limited seating so you may need to wait. Love this little gem!

This place is amazing! They sure knew how to make us Canadians feel welcome. Food was great and so were the staff. Will be going back when we are in the area again. Even other customers were chatting us up and very friendly!

Amazing food and friendly service. They were a little short staffed when we visited but it didn’t stop them from giving us warm friendly service. We got there at the perfect time and didn’t have to wait to be seated but it was definitely worth the wait if you do. I had the frittata and I got the half size and still took half of it home with me. My husband got the s’more’s pancakes and they were to die for (he also got defeated and took home about a quarter of it). Definitely will come back the next time I’m in Syracuse!

One of the best breakfast places around. As a few others have mentioned, it pays to arrive early. Even if there's a wait, it is worth it! The place has a rustic feel to it. The portion sizes are huge but they offer a sharing option. Nevertheless, would recommend working-up an appetite before your visit. Finally, as for the actual dishes, my absolute favorite is their weekend special: Reese's chocolate and peanut butter waffle!
