First visit last night. Will return asap ! Amazing staff - bartender- wait staff - cooks - so incredibly friendly and happy. Now ...the food.... to die for ! I am a calamari connoisseur and this is without a doubt the best serving I have ever tasted. Also, haddock was fresh and moist. Potato salad obviously not out of a can . Now - the beers and wines are next to none !. You've managed to replace the original Clark's Ale House.

Had an early dinner last night w my friend who won the Facebook dinner giveaway for the one year anniversary - it was delicious!! I’ve been craving scallops and the snack plate did not disappoint! The fried shrimp w the spicy dipping sauce was probably the best fried shrimp I’ve ever had. Did I mention how delicious the scallops were?! Due to a lobster shortage in Maine we weren’t able to taste any lobster dishes but I will definitely be going back to try some out when they have more in house. The cioppino has a delicious smoky flavor and the shrimp/scallops/mussels that were in it were awesome. The service was phenomenal and we were greeted by who I assume was the owner multiple times while we dined. The atmosphere was great too! I will say I thought about bringing my one year old as we were going early and I’m glad I didn’t end up bringing her. I didn’t notice any high chairs available and there weren’t really any kid items however she would have enjoyed the sides. A girl’s dinner was more fun anyway. I’ll definitely be going back!

It was absolutely amazing!! Beautiful place, great staff! To say the food was delicious is simply not enough. I had the hot lobster roll, pilaf and the carrots...OMG....I as just there last night and cannot wait to go again. This place is 5 stars all the way. Now if I could only get them to deliver to Sandy Creek!

One of the finest places I have ever eaten at! The interior is spotless you could see your reflection in the stainless steel....No Easy task in a working restaurant. Everyone was very welcoming and accommodating and the food was some of the Finest ...I had a cup of the Spicey Cream Sherry Haddock Stew and the Lobster Mac & Cheese. It was my 1st time there but most definitely wont be my last!

Excellent fresh seafood (now scallops as well as fish and lobster), alfresco dining options in Spring and Summer, awesome side dishes and a very personable wait staff! Thank you for making downtown that much more delightful with your presence!

Extremely accommodating of my party, did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied. The food is A+++++++++++ even Gordon Ramsay would be proud. The drink menu was a little short but what they did have was terrific. The magnificent manager personally made sure we were very happy and offered to go above and beyond for us. 10/10 would recommend.

Fish Friar : Plates that engage all 5 senses , arguably the best fish in Syracuse, has secured its place in my mind when I am "in the mood for seafood" Highly recommended!

We brought our Chef Challenge Syracuse dinner event here, Chef Aaron and Chef Gio had limited time to make a four-course mystery meal for 15 people, and they rocked it. They certainly are one of the best restaurants in Central NY!

I’ve ordered a few times and have loved my food every time. The lobster rolls both hot and cold are some of the very best I’ve ever tasted!!

Husband and I enjoy coming here. He loves the shrimp, we get them every time, and he literally raves about them to friends and family. We usually get a bowl of whatever the house chowder is, and it's always delicious, and their spicy haddock chowder is delightful. We both get fish and chips. The fish is always perfectly cooked and so juicy. The fries are crispy and delicious. Neither of us like tartar sauce, so we leave that off, husband gets the friar sauce and garlic butter, and I get honey mustard. The fish and honey mustard combo is fantastic. One of these days, I'll branch out and get something different; but starting with some chowder and having a main dish of fish and chips just hits the spot perfectly. On top of all that, the hostess/waitress is amazing, friendly, and attentive. The bartender seems friendly and makes a killer lemonade. It's a solid spot to go get dinner. Especially If you're craving a fish fry. We do miss the captains platters though!

This place is fantastic. Normally no complaints at all ever! I been eating here since they were in Solvay with the huge lemon at the register 😊. However I did order calamari to go and was disappointed at the portion I received versus when I dine at the bar which is fab as all hell! I did call and was told to come back and get a new order but I was damn scared lol I ate my tiny portion and drank water and shut up lol this place does rock tho so yea couldn't be too mad just a bit hungry

Gosh Friar is my favorite restaurant in Syracuse. Hands down. They have the best calamari (that lemon mayo is a game changer), I’ve never had a better Ceaser salad dressing, and the sautéed shrimp is always perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The atmosphere is so great, I always feel like I’m not in Syracuse when I’m there. I can’t write this review without mentioning the music - I’ve actually asked my phone what’s is playing so many times and have added songs to my playlist immediately. Whoever picks the music has great taste! Their one and only downfall is service can be on the slow side, but it’s never enough to make me not return. The place is also small which is good and bad - bad that sometimes there is a long wait, but good that it feels cozy and laid back.

I’d heard great things about the Fish Friar and it did not disappoint. I got the Bahn Mi Shrimp Po Boy bowl and it was delish. My companions were happy with their food as well. The service and atmosphere were great. Highly recommend.

Best seafood in Syracuse, hands down. Staff is so friendly and lovely! Margaritas with a variety of flavors are a must have for Tuesdays! Never had to wait long or at all for a table, Swedish fish come out with the check, and did I mention the margaritas! ♥️

Hands down my favorite place in Syracuse. While the fresh fish is without compare, what I particularly appreciate are the wide selection of innovative cocktails at the bar. The syrups and mixes are created in house, and often feature locally sourced ingredients when in season. Happy hour discounts until 6pm. I come back here every time I’m in town.

This is a record from a little while ago. It was our first visit. I ordered restaurant's signature fish & chips. The haddock meat was soft not dry at all, the batter was crispy, and the oil was not tasting oxidized. There are more different types of seafood dishes on the menu, and I would like to try something else next time! Btw the restaurant's interior was also cute!

This place is very tasty. The menu has some very good options. The service is friendly. The beer choices are very extensive. We just dined in for the first time. We'd always done take out. If you are in the mood for fried fish or seafood this is a great choice.

Location is ideal the staff seems friendly, Host did not smile while greeting. I ordered the fat boy Shrimp Poboy. The order took a little over an hour, but food was hot when it was received. The food did taste good and I appreciated how hot it was. Portion size was very small versus cost for a plate. The meal definitely did not have enough rice. Pretty tight with the sauces here, Host would not get some sauce for my meal as I asked for. Overall my experience was good but I think it would have been better with some more side sauces. Thank you!

We visited Syracuse from Texas and experienced one of our worst service at the Clam Bar so we researched and decided to give the Fish Friar a try. We noticed the difference of the 2 places right off the bat. We were greeted by both waitstaff even the bartender. We ordered clams with garlic butter, fish and chips, fried calamari and Mac salad. They were all delicious. The seafood tasted fresh. Our waitress, McKenzie gave us great service. We left there satisfied.
