Yes, the shrimp basket. Very good, but the fried fish is even better. And don't expect a wide array of good beer - a few decent options but that's about it. Nice to be able to sit outside, too, during the summer, but realize that you'll be surrounded by smokers. A good experience overall.

Shrimp Basket of Legend. There are legends and there are legends. Tucked away near Lake Wawasee in quaint Syracuse, IN resides Louie's Bar & Grill. The place where magic happens. Speaking of magic, when I was a kid I went to a children's party where there was a magician. There was no Criss Angel Mind Freak, David Blaine trap door magic jumpin' off there, but there was the kind of Uncle Creepy clown magic you get at kids' parties. I've never been a fan of clowns, and I've especially been wary of the magic wielding types. You saw the eyebrows on Wizzo the Wizard from The Bozo Show. You know what I mean. But, I digress. The magician. The clown conjurer performed magic trick after trick. Standard fare. Coin behind the ear. Disappearing rabbit. Endless handkerchiefs up the sleeves. You know what I mean. The whole shootin' match of mundane tricks that would be found in the repertoire of a low budget creepy clown magician at a kids' party. As it was, my kid self was amazed. Amazed both by the magic tricks themselves (they really do seem like magic to the child brain) and by the juxtaposition of cool and creepy that this painted faced sorcerer displayed. That's the kind of magic I'm talking about when I talk about Louie's and their Shrimp Basket. It's the stuff that etches a warm and fuzzy home for itself in your psyche and leaves you amazed. Forever changed by the memory of all-too-real magic. Thank you, Louie's. And, thanks for doing it all without the clown get-up.

Nice friendly local bar good food and price. Friendly staff. Non smoking inside.
Small bar with big impact. The bartender was friendly. We didn't eat but noticed the food that was coming out of the kitchen and it looked and smelled delicious. Large outdoor sitting area with individual tables and chairs with comfy cushions. Also has a tiki bar outside.
