I had the pleasure of dining at 4 Rivers Smokehouse in Tampa. The ambiance combines comfort with rustic charm, creating an inviting atmosphere. The smoked meats were a highlight—flavorful and expertly cooked, with the brisket standing out for its tenderness and rich taste.
The Christmas bakery items added a delightful festive touch to the experience. The cute and scrumptious treats reflected the holiday spirit, with attention to detail in both presentation and taste.
Service was efficient, and the staff maintained a friendly yet professional demeanor. The establishment's commitment to quality, from the main courses to the festive desserts, aligns well with high standards.
4 Rivers Smokehouse in Tampa excels in delivering exceptional smoked cuisine and incorporates seasonal charm into their offerings, making it a great choice for casual occasions.
Nice atmosphere. Food is fantastic! Pork and sausage yum :) The grits are baked and served in a foil wrap like cornbread...really tasty 👍 👍
Food was excellent! I would skip the mac and cheese next time. Bought it day before, it reheated well. Pick up was easy and pleasant though they were out of an item i ordered.(no big deal). Only reason I didn’t do 5 stars is I called to let them know we were running late for pick up. On hold for 15 minutes and then sent to voicemail. If going to voicemail just send to voicemail and skip the on hold time.
First of all it is a nice place. Design l, interior, exterior all look great. Smells good inside. Place is clean and taken care of
Their menu is kinda average for southern style bbq. Platters, sandwiches etc
I’ve ordered a platter, ribs + chicken + green beens + Cole slaw.
The meat smells great, smoked well enough. Unfortunately the taste of the meat is not enough. Lack of salt and seasonings. Ribs and chicken were bland-tasting. Souses couldn’t fix it
I’d come back if I knew they update their recipe
I spent ~$20 for food only which is not too bad.
Enjoy your bbq here
To be totally honest, I'm ultra picky about smoked meats. If it's not mine, it's just never going to measure up.
That said, 4 rivers comes kinda close ...but not quite.
1.) For some reason, their lean brisket (my choice, because I just don't like fat globs.)is drier than Death Valley and this is a problem. Lean brisket does NOT need to be dry. It can and should be moist and tender.
2.) The pulled pork...is edible, but ultimately too wet a and while there is the smell of having been smoked, there is almost no associated smoke flavor, which was disappointing.
3.)The pulled chicken - it was closer in consistency to chopped chicken and swimming in BBQ sauce, which drastically overpowered almost entirely the smoke flavoring.
4.) The burnt ends...tasted okay but also suffer from the same over chopped issues as the chicken, rather than being the chunks you'd expect them to be.
5.) Texas cornbread. Super dense, super moist and has jalapeño peppers in it, which were a huge turn off. The point of cornbread is to provide a slightly sweet counterpoint to the salty/smoky/spicy smoked meats and seasonings and/or assorted sauces. This cornbread recipe totally forgets that.
6.)Mac and cheese. It's difficult to screw up mac and cheese and thankfully 4 rivers did not do that. It was pretty darn good.
The price to portion ratio is acceptable, all things considered - come hungry or there are liable to be left overs.
When you're 2 hours into a one sided conversation with an excitable octogenarian and need a break, abandon your temporal concerns and enter into a place of tranquility. An isolated solitude of serene splendor awaits you just around the corner. Bask in the security of perfect comfort behind the door that is mislabeled "men's room".
Delectable sides and tender meats! You smell the meat from the parking lot. The restaurant has spacious cafeteria style seating. I walked in and glanced over the menu. I told the employee what I wanted and he put a meal together for me. I ordered moist brisket, Texas sausage, greens, corn, baked beans, and cornbread. Everything was Delicious. Tastes even better with the bbq sauce.
4 Rivers is always our go to BBQ spot! Meat is always consistently delicious and tasty! All sides are yummy! Tried the baked grits tonight 😋 delicious! Fried okra, baked beans, jalapeño poppers are never disappointing! We also have ordered catering for a party. You get so much food!!!
My first time at 4 Rivers as I won a “Dinner for 2” gift certificate. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Staff was fast, attentive, and very friendly. They will even let you sample the sides before you choose. The restaurant was very clean as well. With a variety of food they're guaranteed to have something for everyone. Will definitely be returning soon!
Loved the Beyond burnt ends melt. It was dry, but nothing the extra BBQ sauce didn't fix. As a vegetarian, I loved it. My husband got the beef brisket, and actually preferred my sandwich over his own. It's about 10.00 a sandwich without sides. Loving the flavor of the beyond burnt ends. Update...The beyond burnt ends Vegan melt is even better for some reason today, tasted fresher and not dry. It's a must try!
Food is awesome, never been disappointed. You order when you come in and pick it up when it's ready. Lots of tables with some very long tables where you just squeeze in where you can. There are a few booths, too. Pulled pork, brisket, chicken, sausage, all of it is good. Great little bakery for all kinds of sweets. They all look delicious, but I haven't tried any.
If I go throughhh a cafeteria style line and get my own drink and clear my own tray, then I don't see why a tip is requested.
The best customer service I've ever had a restaurant and the food is absolutely incredible. Ordered the brisket, burnt ends, greens and baked beans!!!! Everything was delicious!
