My coworkers and myself pulled up to this restaurant on a Wednesday evening and there were about 2 cars in the huge parking lot.  We got seated and noticed how big the restaurant is.  The server was courteous.  Food came out quickly.   It was decent but had a little too much seasoning on the vegetables.  Nothing special about this place but the 6lb steak which none of us ordered.

Nothing fancy, just good food.. We were told this was the best steak in Tampa so we had to try it out. This is an old restaurant with old decor and nothing fancy. Service was great, but it was a Monday night with almost no one else there. Everyone ordered rib eyes and all 5 guys in the group enjoyed their steaks. They were cooked just right and had a great flavor. Everything else was just good. Salad was a cheap bag type salad and the potatoes were just okay. Appetizer sampler was good. If you're just hungry for a good steak and want a quirky atmosphere this place is neat. I'm glad I tried it. If you're looking for something fancy to impress the wife or a date, this place probably isn't it. Prices were reasonable.

Definitely my favorite steak in Tampa, not sure why there isn't a higher like rating. I've been coming here for at least 6 years and have always gotten the New York strip, I still haven't been brave enough to try the six pound challenge.

Fantastic steaks...get same/better quality as much more expensive places around Tampa..Texas style country plain but nice decor..steaks cooked over orangewood/mesquite. Super quality meat. Simple with great food!!

YEE-FRIGGIN'-HAW!. This place has been around forever, it's truly a secret for those not from around the area...it's practically in the middle of nowhere just west of 301.

The place is not spic-n-span clean, and the interior decor is about as thought out as an ill-advised complaint to the wife regarding something in the house. In fact, the cobwebs on the light fixture in the entrance are probably older than I am.... but I honestly could care less.... No, strike that.... There is no way for me to physically care any less than that. The Frontier gets a pass, and it's because of the steak.

I get the cowboy, which is the New York Strip. For under 20 bucks you get an orange-wood grilled New York Strip (medium-rare to rare, depending on the that day's particular blood lust) that clocks in around a pound, a loaded baked potato, a salad and a beer (of course). BTW, the steaks over the DECADES I've been there have never been sent back... ever. Always cooked to perfection and perfect just the way it's brought out...I don't even put salt on it.

This place is awesome, the locals "keep it real" and there are some nights with live music. And by live music I mean an old hand on the gee-tar..but it's awesome.

Speaking of awesome...there's the Challenger Steak...some 5lb. deal that if you finish it with certain rules met, you get it for free...hospital ride might cost you though. God, it just reminds me of the Great Outdoors with John Candy "there's nothing left but fat and gristle!"

Frontier...outstanding steaks for a good price.

No Frills Ultra Casual Great Value. Frontier Cattle Co. Steakhouse is NOT for everyone. If you DO like the occasional greasy spoon, hole-in-the-wall, off the beaten path quirky little mom n pop place, Frontier is your place. Their #1 asset here is VALUE. You get a LOT of food for a good price and it is decent. Consistent with other reviews, they DO tend to over-cook their steaks so we always order 1 level rarer than what we want here. If you can overlook that issue, you have an excellent casual little place with pretty good steaks and huge servings for a good price. If you would eat at, say Spaghetti Warehouse in Ybor you will be right on par with Frontier. Come as you are, jeand and sneakers and all, and sit down in an old-school rural reasturant type atmosphere and be ready to chow down on simple, tasty, satifying food. Great Value: Ranch-a-kabobs for $11.95 ... 2 generous skewers of sirloin tip steak chunks and veggies grilled and seasoned well, baked potato with fixins, a basic iceburg salad and tasty butter rolls, Perfect for a steak craving on a bologna budget. Just come with an open mind and "Denny's of Steak" expectations and you will be pleasantly suprised. Don't forget to take their big matchbooks with you on the way out and feed the Koi Fish in the pond witht he kiddies. A good value.

My family and I found this place when searching for a steakhouse in the area. Got seated fast, had an amazing waitress. Queso and chips appetizer was delicious along with our steaks. Everything had a great taste and was absolutely delicious! Would definitely come back.

People,if you want good steak, grilled on open fire, then here's your place. Drive a little bit past the "big 3" near international mall and save yourself some money. Steaks as big and tasty without the "big 3" price tag. Servers were super friendly and place gives the old school supper club vibe. Should have been a lot busier for a Friday night, so go check them out. Steaks cooked open flame with citrus wood chips. Good, unique flavor. No ala-carte so you are not paying for your sides and salad. Very enjoyable. They also have a 6 pound steak challenge 😲 . I dare you! We will be back for sure. Service and food - top notch. Oh yeah, bathrooms spotless and Koi pond outside.

Warm service and good food. The decor may be a little dated and the noise level when we were there was a bit high, but our waitress was quite attentive. We got corn fritters, the bone-in rib eyes and a surf and turf. Caesar salad and “buckskins” which were basically very thick cut fries. The steaks had a very good flavor, smokey from their wood grill, especially given the steaks we ordered were rare. Also got a key lime pie for dessert that was tasty. A solid restaurant with honest food and service.

Saw this restaurant as I passed it and thought I'd give it a try. The service was great as we were seated quickly. It wasn't very busy. The interior reminds you of an old time ranch or barn with a cattle and cowboy themed display. Prices were reasonable. . Spicy shrimp as the appetizer which had a sweet spicy coating. We shared the t-bone steak and it was delicious. No seasoning needed. Large baked potato and salad. I'll be back.

Really a great restaurant. Not a large menu but adequate. It has good reviews 4 stars. I am a fan of Longhorns pork chops, and I can say the pork chops here beat Longhorns hands down. Vicky ordered a half rack of baby back ribs and got a full rack and cooked just the way she likes them. She also got a huge baked potato. I got green beans as my side. They were the darkest green beans I have ever seen. Also, the best I've ever had. This was a great choice for dinner on the fly.

What a great experience. We went on a Friday night and the dining room was not crowded. The service was exquisite as was the food. We hadn't been to this place in years, and frankly was a little afraid to go. But it lived up to our best expectations! Highly recommend!

I love these bang bang shrimp and the steaks are the best. We’ve been coming here for years making this comparison, and they are always the best here.

This was my first time here, despite the fact I have lived in the area for 30+ years. We arrived at 6:00 on a Tursday and there were only a few cars out front. We were promply greeted and seated, as there eas no wait. There only 2 other tables seated. The food was a little pricey ($33 for my filet mignon, and $35 for my husband's surf and turf, but they were larger than the typical chain steakhouses). The food was good overall. The only minor complaints are that the croutons on the ceasar salad were chewy and the mushrooms we bought for the steak ($4ish) were not good -- they tasted like they came from a can. We are wondering if they are busy on the weekend, because the steaks were good (wood-fired) and it is a locally owned and operated small business. In other words, we'll be back.

We are from Oregon, and ate here 2 years ago. We are on our honeymoon and had to stop in for their very memorable and delicious steaks. Perfectly seasoned and absolutely melt in your mouth. Thank you for our first real meal as husband and wife. (We didn’t even eat at our own wedding!)

Had an amazing experience. Actually arrived when they opened at 1600 hrs and were the only 2 in the restaurant at the time which made it an even better experience. The service was awesome. Then came the food and omgosh incredible Mom and I both ordered Filet Mingon with shrimp Scampi. The filet was cooked to order and was amazing. Highly recommend going.

This is literally a hidden gem in Tampa. The cuts of steak are great and the prices are pretty much competitive with the bigger chains at a higher quality in both presentation and flavor. I have never had a single problem getting the steak at the temperature that I ask for and honest I feel like this place needs a little more love than its given. I go here for my family's birthday dinners in particular because they give a whole T-Bone steak to the birthday person with a valid driver's license. I recommend you come here instead of going to a big chain like Millers, Longhorn or Outback, you will get your money's worth for sure, especially if you are big into steaks.
