Great atmosphere, the smells coming from the kitchen are enough to make you never want to leave. They open your meal up with a piece of cornbread glazed in honey. We ordered our entrees, fried catfish, polluck, mac n cheese, and okra. The fish was the perfect balance of texture. Just the right amount of breading and flakiness. The finishing touch was another piece of cornbread drizzled in honey. Best soul food around! We will become regulars here. Chef Kevin came out halfway through our meal to personally ask us our opinion. The food and presentation are on point.
I loved everything, especially the seafood gumbo and the sweet chili pepper chicken wings. Oh, and the cabbage. Man the cakes are amazing. Ok, ok, I loved it all. I wish the peach cobbler was a little sweeter though!
I love everything, my favorite dish is the Meatloaf, with mac and cheese and some sweet candy yams.

Great experience service and food ! Top notch
Amazing food and service! Everyone should Eat at Mr. B's!
Awesome food excellent, fast service always served and fixed with a smile.
Classis soulfood and comfort food with a cuisine twist. I love it!
Definitely have to come back and try different menu items. We had the chicken Mac and peas, fried green tomatoes and the honey hot chicken w/ tomatoes and okra. The food was served fresh and very tasty. We were greeted when we entered and RJ made it very homely. The decor was top tier as well. Definite recommend
Today was my first time trying Mr. B's Southern Kitchen and I must say the food was delicious. I ordered the Southern Fried Kitchen with 2 sides. The sides I chose were cabbage and okra with tomatoes. The cabbage still had a little crunch to it, which I love, and it was seasoned very well, I love garlic, and it had a garlicky flavor. I definitely wanted more cabbage than what was given. The okra and tomatoes, in my opinion, could have used more seasoning it just tasted like stewed tomatoes. The fish was seasoned perfectly. You can tell the fish was seasoned as well, not just the fish fry. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I'm not a big cornbread fan, but their cornbread was great. It was buttery and sweet from the honey. I would have loved to have had some rice with the okra and tomato, but rice was a side option, not an inclusion. I definitely want to return to dine in and try some other options on the menu that sounded delicious. Overall, I was super satisfied and would visit again.
An amazing soul food restaurant. The food is delicious, the presentation sophisticated and a welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the fish and grits and really enjoyed it. It had a great blend of flavors that complimented each other perfectly. Robin got the smothered pork chop and it was equally as good. Add to it fresh cornbread muffins and fried Green Tomatoes and it was a great meal. The service was friendly and attentive as well as the entire staff.
Ordered chicken wings, Mac & cheese, collard greens, yams, & peach cobbler. The hot & honey wings & peach cobbler were delicious. The collard greens needed some vinegar, I’m not sure if it had any. I still recommend getting it. The mac had too much sour cream. The yams were just right, not hard or soft & not as sweet as I expected, which is good! The portions were good for the price I paid.
Walking in, I was greeted by Ellie and Brittany. Found the place on Facebook and always passed by but never stopped. This place is absolutely phenomenal. I most definitely will be coming back, especially since the staff was great and kept us entertained. Love supporting black owned businesses, and this place takes the cake!!! If you're looking for friendly service, reasonable price, good soul food. This is the place to be!!!!! Also met the owner, very sweet
Had to wait 35 minutes for my food which is not standard for them, but it was worth the wait ! The fish and grits was amazing (but didn’t care for the Brussels) and same with their classic breakfast platter. I even got their liver and onions special to take home later for lunch and that was solid too. The service was very friendly and created a happy environment so I didn’t even mind that I had to wait longer than normal.
Don't hesitate, go and try it. They were short staffed like everyone but they were apologetic, friendly and the food and drinks were good. I had the chicken and waffles with a side of Southern grits. I didn't like the grits because I'm not for sugar in my grits. But the texture was great.
Nice friendly staff but under staff l. The fried chicken was good and Mac and Cheese was ok. Yams taste like can.Overall I would give another try. The service was extremely slow
This was my favorite restaurant on my trip to Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Pete. I can not say enough about my experience. From the time I got there, the staff was sooo nice. They spent so much time explaining the menu & making suggestions. Extraordinarily nice people. The food was OUTSTANDING! I got the fish & grits. It was amazing. I’m still thinking about it a week later. My husband got the ox tails, catfish, Mac n cheese, turnip greens with blueberry lemonade. You can’t get food like this just anywhere. The owner was super nice. He checked on us a few times, stopped to chat, and even took a selfie with us. My only regret is that I didn’t try the sweet potato cheesecake. I will neverrrrr visit Tampa and not stop by Mr. B’s! Loved it!
The food was really good. I ordered the fried fish and grits, eggs and salmon cakes. The service is a bit slow. If you have a large party, you’ll be waiting a while for your food.
If you’re craving soul food, this is the spot to hit up! I was craving soul food for breakfast as it’s an amazing way to start a day. I got fish and grits. I was amazed it was grouper! Not a little piece either, a giant, perfectly fried filet. Idk how they battered this but it was a nice crispy flake that sealed in a perfectly moist, flavorful fish. Grits were on point. Even got Cuban bread which anyone from Florida can appreciate. Will DEFINITELY be back!
We enjoyed our experience. Our waitress Brittany was so kind . Our coffee was hot ! I had fried catfish and grits with a salad. Everything was delicious.the establishment was clean and decorated well. I highly recommend you give them a try.
From the ambiance, to the people and leading up to the food: Absolutely amazing.
Not every black owned business will give you That feeling of “southern hospitality” but this place does its justice!
The chicken and waffles were plentiful. Chicken lightly breaded with FLAVOR, tender and juicy. Waffles (tbh I’m eating those for breakfast I’m the morning) Light and fluffy! And topped with this hot and spicy sauce that gives you a little heat with the sweet & savory flavors.
The staff were more than hospitable, checking on us and simply having a conversation. It felt as if I was stopping by a family members home after church service and just catching up and talking about life.
I will most certainly be returning.
Thank you for an excellent service and hospitality!
Highly recommend
Visited for lunch. The buttermilk fried okra was the best fried okra I have ever tasted. The crunchy breading and hot sauce was perfect. The smothered chicken special for the day was good, the greens had flavor and the Mac n cheese and corn bread will not disappoint either. I will be back!
Love the décor. The staff is so friendly. Delish cornbread. The peach cobbler was not good at all. But everything else was pretty good. Loved the okra and tomatoes.
A great black-owned breakfast restaurant!
Before heading back to Atlanta, I was craving shrimp and grits - at this point, I’m just on the hunt for the best one in the south - and I had to try it in Tampa. Mr B’s has its home-comfort vibe from food to decor, to even the owner and waiters’ hospitality.
What I appreciated the most is that the shrimps were tail-off. That enough gets an extra star.
