We had an exceptional evening celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, the staff was fabulous and so nice! They started our evening with a surprise glass of sparkling wine to celebrate and added a candle to our amazing dessert. Highly recommend!
Lovely spot for lunch or dinner. We had the roasted vegetables, cheese /fruit platter and Caesar salad. MATT couldn’t have been nicer as our waiter.
We had a lovely dinner tonight! The Ahi tuna and tenderloin were delicious. And dessert-the cheesecake was so decadent and perfect. Our server Kate was awesome and made my birthday perfect. (No Mariachis is required) House of Tricks is my yearly go to spot for my birthday and it never disappoints. Thank you so much.
Was visiting the Tempe-Phoenix area for a week and always try and hit up some great local establishments while traveling. House of Tricks did not disappoint. Food was excellent, and service was great too! I highly recommend sitting outdoors. Awesome atmosphere!

I had an outstanding lunch today out on the patio with bestie Wendy. I was entranced with the venue from the moment I sat down. The greenery makes the patio seem so secluded & intimate, the food was excellent (so was my cocktail), the staff was so accommodating and pleasant. And one additional surprise - I ran into someone I knew! Doesn't happen to me very frequently
this is a great place to have a nice modern meal. their fish of the day is typically out of this world and the prices are not insanely high. I love the fact that many of their meals are created with Arizona local ingredients. When friends are in town near the university, we dine here.

Always a great selection on menu! Tough to even get past the starters because you want to order them all. The Harrisa Mussels with Chorizo is must have! Get extra bread and share with table
Great atmosphere, great service and awesome food. Big selection of food and expertly prepared. Enjoyed the lunch so much I just had to try the bread pudding... You won't be sorry, it is excellent.

Great service and atmosphere and the food is to die for.
This place is so cute and the food is AMAZING! Get the cast iron skillet burrata appetizer because it is to die for! I got the duck with a mango-peach BBQ glaze which was so yummy. The staff recommended to have it medium and they were so right. It was perfect. My fiancé got the Brown sugar-black pepper rubbed grilled beef tenderloin but was also great and this is coming from someone who really doesn't love steak. I also wanted his potatoes instead of mine and the waitress gladly offered to replace my side with the same mashed potatoes. Also, the staff is so friendly and kind. Out waitress was very attentive and the people at the front were so kind. The restaurant inside had a home/comfort feel and outside is beautiful with the lights and plants.
This place is honestly pretty amazing. A fancier dining option for a reasonable price in Tempe. The restaurant does very well with sauces and garnishes in their dish. Generous portion size for the entree, and my pup enjoyed the leftover that I brought back. All the meat dishes that we had were so tender that we barely used the knife. The cocktails are on point and have a good amount of alcohol in them. Cozy indoor seating and more lively outdoor seating. They have well placed heaters so you don’t get cold. I recommend making a reservation ahead especially on the weekend. The staff was absolutely friendly and explained the off-the-menu items well. Good dessert options with a selection of dessert drinks. They were doing wine tasting for dinner when i visited (December 2021).
House of tricks, house of surprises! We love this restaurant, attracted by the interesting name, but the good quality tasty food, the nice green environment, great service are all beyond our expectations. Every dish we ordered was so good.
Pork shank is a big dish, we did not finish at all. Maybe I only had half and starting to feeling full. The portion is huge, really make the price worthy.
Apple bread pudding dessert is so good! Goons try! We would like to come back but they said they will close the restaurant permanently soon, omg so sad to see such a nice restaurant to go! Sad!

Treated ourselves to a fancy dinner and it was definitely worth it. The weather was terrible, but our server, Avery, was accommodating and placed us right next the the fire pit. I was pleasantly surprised with every single thing we had. The pork shank’s jalapeño apple jam was mind blowing! The chef’s attention to detail in every recipe is what sets this food apart. Highly recommend!
Truly an excellent restaurant, and I'll be sad to see it go. Get your reservations in now before the owners retire. Have been several times over several years and I've never had a bad dish. I had the pork shank this time and it was delicious (as were the scallops). If I'm being honest the service was a bit slow tonight and the bar was not on their A game, but I can certainly cut them some slack since it was a Tuesday night and only about a month away from closing. Will come again one more time before the end!

We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The only reason the review is a little lower is the service. We did not see a waiter or even get acknowledged by any wait staff for a drink order or menus for over 15 minutes. After getting up to ask the hostess about it, we did get served and the rest of the meal was phenomenal. We started with the scallops and buratta cheese as appetizers. Scallops were done perfectly and the warm cheese was delicious. I had the beef tenderloin and it was so tender and had such good flavor and served over a bed of perfectly done and flavored mashed potatoes. Overall it was a nice evening and the atmosphere was perfect.
My husband treated me to this amazing restaurant for my birthday in September of last year. The staff was very attentive and nice. They were knowledgeable of the menu and ingredients. Our reservation was for 6pm and we dined outside. The experience was simply amazing. I was a bit bothered by the fact that it was downtown Tempe and you could here the college kids revving cart engines and motorcycles but there dining experience overshadowed all of that and I forgot about everything else outside the restaurant. The cocktails are great also! Great prices also. My husband and I each had an appetizer, entree, bacon arugula salad and 2 cocktails each and our bill was about $140 without the tip.

We had a fantastic dinner on the patio. We didn’t have reservations and the hostess was very accommodating for a group of 6. The menu is interesting with many choices and flavors (duck, bison meatloaf , salads, and seafood). The team loved the food, cocktails and service. Highly recommended in downtown Tempe.
Some street and alleyway parking, but very limited. Takes cash and card and as of 6/26 is still requiring masks if you are not seated; staff still wearing masks as well. We only had drinks and an order of bread, but the spot is really cool and servers were above average, so I wanted to give a review. Cocktails were tasty and well presented and there's a cool outdoor bar with a TON of outdoor seating. One of the cool things about this place is that it's almost completely surrounded by vegetation and fountains, cooling off the air and practically giving House of Tricks its own weather in the midst of an unforgiving Arizona climate. I will update my review once I head back for food, but for now I can tell you this is an awesome spot to grab an afternoon drink in a really unique and awesome setting with down to earth and helpful servers. Recommended!
Amazing food. Perfection!!!! Great service, great atmosphere. I hope to go again before they close. Get those reservations people, your truly missing out.
