Another Macayo's, another great meal. Start with a basket of their thin corn chips and salsa (it is at the hotter side of mild) and add your favorite Margarita, mine was the Cadillac with the shots on the side. Then a order of the green tamale bites. The main plate hand dipped Chile Relleno that comes with beans and rice.
Ate here on a work outing and everybody loved their dishes. I got the steak tacos and they were huge! They're very generous with their portions. The service could have been better. There was a long wait for our food.
I haven't been to Macayos for a while, and to be honest, the last time the food tasted to commercialized. This time was not the case, it's like a chef of old traditions blessed our meal with love and tasty happiness.. it was tender.. juicey ... the aroma was intoxicating... we were secretly eating before we even seen our plates.. then the mixologist Gabby was a Magician sent from the Gods.. amazing experience!!
Haven't had Macayo's in over 5 years since the one in Tucson went out of business. Always loved the baja sauce.
The atmosphere in this place was electric. The Manager Mike I believe his name was, was interacting with all of the guest and making sure they were happy with their food or if they needed anything else.
We're from Seattle and the same food we order back home was prepared differently here. Even though we thought it was wrong it still tasted good. Mike made his way to our table, greeted us and asked us how everything tasted and as we explained he listened, and then he explained how they make the same dishes here in Arizona. Gave us a better understanding.
All in all it was a good late night experience.
Thanks Mike, from the people from Seattle!
Super clean, kind servers, quick refills and good food. Will definitely go back.
Best service ever! Ty, the bartender is amazing!
Really good Mexican fare and great drinks (try a Texas Margarita). Knowledgeable servers and skilled bartenders, too. A little noisy at times, but that just adds to the festive atmosphere. I love this place!
This location in Tempe is my favorite. The food, service and atmosphere is great. We always sit at the bar, we don’t even drink, but it seems to be quicker, more prompt service.
The grilled fish tacos are my favorite with the black beans and a side of guacamole. Chips are yummy, the iced tea is delicious, always taste fresh, never stale, my only complaint is that I wish they had a hotter salsa than what they serve as hot, it just isn’t hot enough. I recommend this place.
Macayo's Mexican Restaurant in Tempe is a culinary gem that seamlessly combines the vibrant flavors of Mexico with a warm and inviting ambiance. From the moment you step in, the friendly staff makes you feel like part of the family especially manager Mike! The menu boasts an array of traditional dishes and modern twists, each prepared with finesse and care. Macayo's is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic and memorable Mexican dining experience. Thank you manager Mike and the lovely staff! Wonderful experience!
This was our first time there. Food was exceptionally good, especially the tamale appetizers. Restaurant was well lit and the wait staff warm, friendly and knowledgeable . Definitely coming back
Did a quick carryout from Macayo's while staying at the adjacent hotel. The mini chimichangas were delicious -- we tried both the chicken and the steak. The enchilada dulces dessert was quite good but would certainly have had more panache if we'd been dining in. This opportunistic meal left us very well satisfied. (since it was carryout I can't really rate service or atmosphere, but the gentleman who got me my order was quite friendly).
I miss the Macayos in tucson on Broadway. It was our favorite spot to go to so when we found out that there is tons of them in Phoenix, we went and it was fantastic!! It was special, not so packed and our waiter was great and the food was awesome sauce!! Go visit you'll love it too 😋😋😋🥰😎
