I read about El Tlacoyo in the Phoenix New Times on my flight into Phoenix from NYC. Had to try it. Phenomenal tacos (sausage and nopales, pork stomach and chicken)and beef tongue burrito! The salsas are off the hook good as well. If I had more time or a larger capacity stomach I would have eaten my way through the entire menu. If I ever get back to Phoenix, I’m going back on a very empty stomach.
The ceviche and the barbacoa taste so delicious!!! The customer service is outstanding. I recommend this place!

I honestly believe this is the best Mexican food in the valley. You can get spicy, fried, fresh, home style, and barbecue- all of which are AMAZING!!!

I went there specifically for their huitlacoche quesadilla. Per David's recommendation, we tried the mixiotes special. It's a slow cooked lamb and port dish in red sauce, not spicy. It was so delicious. We brought the leftover home to make tacos 🌮 after adding so cheese.
The food here was very tasteful. We had lengua, chicken & carnitas tacos. Along with a carnitas burrito, beans, rice & Modelo & Dos Equis beers. Our server, David (I believe that was his name), was so kind, helpful with the menu & how the dishes came since it was our first time here. My wife & I will be back when we're out visiting the east valley, we highly recommend this restaurant.
Quality usually doesn’t come quickly. Be prepared to wait a bit as this isn’t turn-and-burn service. And be prepared to taste some amazing food. It’s hand made, everything. And you can taste it. Wow, is really all I can say about the mole poblano! My margarita was also made by hand, not poured from a batch. My server was very friendly and attentive when I needed something.
This is authentic Mexican food, the real deal! One of the 3 best Mexican restaurant in the Valley. If you dont love this place either you are not Mexican or you do know sh*t - in which case ypu need to stick to Macayos or Taco Bell with your like-minded kind.
Incredible restaurant. Lamb on weekends is a must. Staff is friendly and detail-oriented. You will find dishes and ingredients that are uncommon and not served at your average Valley Mexican spot. Specialities from the Hildalgo región mean that you get transported to the Mexican state but you only have to get yourself to East Tempe by the Mesa border. Food is well spiced and made with care and heart. Give this place a try! You will be well rewarded.
The service is exceptional the food is great I recommend the Hawaiian torta it is super good it comes with dried chilies which made it perfect the space is also is just right the salsa that comes with the chips has the right amount of spiciness will definitely come back

A different from the normal Mexican dishes! I like different 😏. This is a old school style from Mexico city grub . I might say this is the only Mexican restaurant that is brave enough to sell food like this in TEMPE AZ finally
Went there today and the food was great. We ordered carne asada tacos, Al pastor tacos, and a chicken quesadilla. Everything tasted good and we were served quickly. The salsas were very good too.

Discovered this little gem just down the street from my house! I got a chicken burrito that was awesome, and it came with perfectly prepared beans and rice. The salsa served with chips was amazing! I will be making this my local stop for good Mexican food!
They serve soda in bottles, and have a limited selection. That's not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of when you visit.
Great service and very traditional Mexican all the way down to the menus in Spanish. I stuck with what I knew but want to branch out and take their suggestions next time. Looks to have a full bar. Prices very reasonable for the area. Fairly small seating area but open seats on my visit. Even a bar to sit at. Only bottled beer from what I saw.
I come here on a super regular basis. Can’t get enough of the friendly staff and their juicy cabeza tacos. Salsas are great too. I never leave without taking some home with me. I recommend this place to all who love authentic Mexican food! Not for those who order cheese quesadillas at Taco Bell
