Food was excellent, and the server was friendly and attentive. The Cobb salad had fresh ingredients, plenty of chicken and was very filling. Homemade cherry vinaigrette was so tasty I bought some to bring home. Chicken fajita wrap was also excellent.

Cool little low maintenance place. Crazy good selection of sandwiches, all a pretty unique spin on traditional sandwiches. I had the campfire on sourdough. It was excellent. Like this place mucho and would not hesitate to go back. Eat here.

Amazing flavors! Came up to Traverse for an autumn drive and came across this place. I had the Swamp Soup and the New Delhi. Burger. My girlfriend had the Bean Soup and the Pork Belly Mac n Cheese. All were delicious. Nice staff, quick service, very unique selections and so tasty.

Maybe the coolest little place in town- you can't imagine all of the unique items available. Try something you've never thought of before, it's totally worth it.

Yup. It'll be packed during lunch, but the food is really good. It may take a while to read the entire menu, but you'll be able to find something on it that you love.

It should be known by now...Centre Street Cafe is the BEST restaraunt pound for pound in the area. It is beyond fresh and delicious. Staff is so friendly every time, very reasonable prices for the master piece you will receive. I am sorry for the few people that must be deprived of the 5 senses.

Great sandwich spot without Front Street prices. This is one of, if not the, best lunch spots in T.C. The menu is huge and the combinations are unique and delicious; there is something for everyone. The ingredients are fresh and high-quality. Everything is very reasonably priced for the quality and amount you get. I usually eat half a sandwich for lunch and save the other for later. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. The open kitchen counter makes it easy to observe how clean and sanitary the cooks are. I've recommended Centre Street to a bunch of people and nobody's ever been disappointed.

Instant Favorite. I came to Traverse CIty for a week-long vacation. One of the goals of my trip was to sample as many restaurants in the area as possible. This meant that in order to cover all of the best places, I needed to keep trying new places every day. After doing lunch at Centre Street Cafe between flying engagements, (its location is very convenient to the airport) I ended up going back twice more during by visit, violating my "new place for every meal" rule in a big way. No other restaurant in Traverse City created this sort of draw, including several of the top-rated fine dining establishments.

There are several qualities that made me return:

1. The flavor of the food: The combinations of flavors in the sandwiches, wraps and soups have been finely perfected. For instance, the smoked apple butter on the "Campfire Wrap" helped to create a turkey wrap like none other I had before. The depth of flavor was great in everything I sampled. The ingredients were obviously fresh, and nothing I ordered relied on heavy applications of fatty dressings to achieve great flavor. Another example is the bean dip which accompanies the tortilla chips served with sandwiches. It was light, healthy and extremely flavorful.

2. The staff: Even during the busy lunch rush, the waitresses who served me were very attentive. What's more is that the staff exhibited excitement about the food offerings and made me feel like they truly believed in the product, the establishment and the dining experience. They were quick on their feet in conversation and made me feel like a seasoned local on my first visit. Thanks, Amy, for making my visits enjoyable.

3. The portions: Usually food quality and portion size are inversely proportional. The volume of food in all of the offerings was generous, and I never left hungry. In fact, my usually-reliable self discipline in limiting my intake was severely challenged here due to the incredible taste of the food.

4. The venue: The location is unassuming, part of a small strip mall, somewhat hidden from well-traveled Garfield Ave. The setup features simple tables and chairs and a small bar arrangement ideal for those striking off on their own for lunch. The restaurant is decorated with bright, local artwork. The daily specials adorn whiteboards on the sides of the entryway. No gimmicky theme decorations or overly-formal place settings to be found here. The ambiance feels very "real" and I did not feel like a tourist in this establishment. The food is obviously the focus of the business, and the ambiance takes nothing away from the experience.

5. The value: The true test of any dining experience is the feeling one gets when presented with the bill. It's really not about the total cost of the meal, but whether or not the meal was worth what is being asked. For the ~$15 I spent on my lunches (with drinks and tip and tax) I felt like I got a great value for my money, and left totally satisfied each time.

Centre Street cafe would be the perfect place for lunch with friends, coworkers, or in my case, a delightful place to "fuel up" with incredible food on an action-packed vacation. My only regret is that they aren't open at dinnertime for those nights when I was after a light, refreshing dinner.

Ate here once, cute little place. Sandwich was amazing - despite the fact that I found it overpriced I will probably get it again. The soup was too salty for my taste. The service was great, very friendly staff.

Never in a million years would I have stopped here if it weren't for Urban Spoon. Sandwiches truly ate fantastic. Based on recommendations I got the tilapia wrap. Again, wouldn't have even thought to order otherwise. So very good. Even my husband, who won't eat cilantro or peppers, thought it was good. He got a chicken, avocado and honey mustard sandwich which was also fabulous. Staff was beyond good. Felt like we had been coming there for years. Give it a try!

The Don. Truly, it's the only sandwich you ever need. As for it on rustic sourdough and toasted - it will blow you away. This place is awesome and gets better all the time!

Sandwich Mecca. There are so many delicious options on the menu at Centre Street that I'm still trying things for the first time. I've never been disappointed by the food. It's well priced, fresh, and creative. The humdrum/slightly crowded atmosphere is easy to overlook after your first bite. A local favorite off the beaten path.

TC's hidden gem!. I LOVE this place. Best lunch spot in town. Not the greatest atmosphere, but the food and staff make up for that greatly. Very extensive menu and awesome daily specials. I recommend trying the swamp soup. It's delicious.

Holy Smokes!!! One of the best things I have ever eaten.. My friend and I were road tripping through Northern Michigan and found this place on Urban Spoon. I saw some others ordering the tilapia wrap and overheard a waitress recommending it. My friend and I ordered it and WOW, it was some of the best stuff I have ever had. The fish was perfect, and the flavors that they surrounded it with blew me away. I still have cravings for that wrap, and don't think it will end anytime soon.

Great Lunch Place in TC!. Centre Street is one of those hidden gems in Traverse City. It is a small restaurant off the main road. It is only open for lunch so I think it is open from 10am to 3 or 4pm and only Mon-Fri. The sandwiches are large and there is a variety for everyone. They have make your own sandwiches, salads, pastas and vegetarian. My favs on the menu is the Maui or smokin joe, with Pete's pasta instead of the bean dip and a cup of swamp soup. For all that it will cost me around 12.00-14.00 and I take close to half of it home with me! One warning though, it is so popular that it is hard to get a table from 12 to 1pm. Try to come before or after this time period.

We were pleasantly surprised to taste the food that was rated so high at this restaurant. They cook it close by and it was sumptuous. We all had the soup which was very good and sandwiches. Definitely make this one of your stops if you’re in town.

This place is great for gourmet sandwiches and wraps. We seek it out on visits to Traverse City. The menu is extensive and everything is fantastic. The staff seem happy and are very friendly. The parking lot and bathrooms are what they are, but the food is well worth a visit.

I was visiting traverse city and was looking for some food options so I went into this cafe thinking well a sandwich is a sandwich I’m sure I’ll like it but it won’t be anything special. I was wrong!! I don’t know what it is but their sandwiches are amazing! I believe it may be the mayo or that everything is fresh but wow what a great place! Highly recommend this cafe! Great service and amazing food and the two cookies were excellent.

This place is always busy. They have a huge sandwich & wrap menu laid by protein, and everything is really fresh. Did I mention it's busy? I usually call in my orders Togo, but it still only takes maybe 10-15, min. Just don't forget--they're not open weekends!

Within the doors of this quaint, hole-in-the-wall cafe, is a staff that is cheery, attentive, and downright delightful! From the first, "Hi, sit anywhere." To assisting in dairy allergy questions, this team is top notch. I ordered the high noon and big Bubba. Both were fresh and inventive. It may be a tad off the beaten path for vacationers, like me, but well worth the effort of going 7 minutes south of Front Street.

Great soup and sandwich shop, they have other things like tacos, pasta salads, mac and cheese, I usually stick with soup and salad. Everything is always fresh and delicious. I love the mushroom soup. The staff is always very nice and quick to greet you. This is a hidden gem in TC, a little off the beaten path, but a great place.

Delicious food. Inventive menu. Great service. This is a favorite of locals and some of the seasonals who actually bother to experience the local culture. Fudgies generally don't find their way here which is good because the place is packed during the lunch rush. The secret to enjoying a relaxing lunch is to get here right when they open or after the main lunch crowd which seems to run from about 11:45 to 1:30. The service is always great no matter how busy. Sandwiches, salads and soups are consistently delicious. Great spot for a lunch meeting or a bite with friends. Only lunch — no breakfast or dinner — and they do it very well. They also do takeout and you'll see plenty of it flying out the door. Some may discount the decor which is of the small diner genre but go for the food and enjoy a good meal.
