First timer here and the great experience made us want to come back for more! 🤩 Tried the avocado bread appetizer which was delicious. Had the smoked ribs and pulled pork as the main course. The BBQ was on point and tasty. Had pulled chicken on the side. It was what good but the it is a bit pricy for the small portion. The service was also great. Will definitely come back trying out more dishes 🇺🇲💯🎉🍖

We used Smoke and Porter Public House to cater a dinner theatre production and the food, presentation, and service was out of this world amazing! The entire audience loved the dinner and we received so many compliments. The bread and smoked butter was amazing and the chopped salad was fresh and delicious. The food was so good that my family and I went to Traverse City to eat their food again, the walleye special was incredible and the mushroom risotto was a hit. Paul was our server and he was helpful, intuitive and super quick. Great spot for dinner! We will be back for sure for some pulled pork and truffle fries! Definitely stop here if you are in the area.

Literally changed my life. For all 52 years of my life I have absolutely hated pork chops. My mom overcooked them and served them three or more days a week. I HATE them. The owner was our waiter and he recommended the pork chop special. He seemed passionate about them. VERY reluctantly I ordered them. Life changing. I never knew a pork chop could taste good. A couple days before I had dropped $125 on a tomahawk steak at a place on Mackinac Island. It was half as good as Smoke and Porter’s $34 pork chop. It was amazing.

Absolutely phenomenal. Came here on a whim while travelling and was astounded by the food quality, atmosphere, and service! The pulled pork sandwich blew me away. I highly recommend making a stop here if you are interested in quality BBQ and great service.

As soon as we walked in and the smell of the food hit us, we knew this was going to be good. And we were not disappointed. The food was excellent! The pulled pork was so tasty without even using the sauces - which were also good. Dessert was also fantastic. Chocolate coffee cake had a wonderful chocolate taste. The drink selection was very comprehensive. Service was great. We will definitely come back when we are in Traverse City.

Right along the Tart trail, great place to grab a meal while walking the trail. Also we had a side 3 ribs which were excellent. Pulled pork sandwiches are great and the beef pastrami on rye was excellent

I used Smoke and Porter (Urban Roots Catering) for my wedding recently and Henry and his team were amazing to work with and the food was the best wedding food I've ever had. We're simple people and I'm super picky so we went with a BBQ buffet and somehow Henry and his team were able to make such simple foods look fancy and appealing. I have gotten so many texts and calls about where we got our food from because it was so good. We also had them bar tend for us and everyone adored the bar tender (I cannot for the life of me remember his name). We live out of state but visit TC for family and we will definitely be making a point to eat here when we're home. If you're looking for catering or just a place for dinner while you're in town, I 100% recommend this place!

First time visit. Nice decor and atmosphere. The menu is small which is good and the choices were very nice. More than 1 vegan option was nice. We were a table of 6 so we got to try different dishes. Black bean burger was delicious for a meat eater it was 5 stars. Makhani curry was fantastic not too spicy which is par for the course in TC. Also ordered were a full plate of ribs fries and Caesar salad. All were good. The pulled pork with the Memphis sauce was great. The half chicken with the St Louis sauce was good. We also ordered an asparagus side dish as well as a potato side. Very good. Finished with turtle jubilee and cookies and cream Brule dessert. Another nice touch was the great service from Kurt. Highly recommend.

We ate for the second time at smoke and porter. Matter of fact we drove 83 miles to get there for dinner. We had a very nice waitress Cheyenne which gave us wonderful service and made sure we were taken care of. The food was outstanding!! I had a full rack of ribs that were delicious! My son had a steak and it was great too! My wife had the brisket that she could cut with a fork and was very pleased! This place has some of the Best Food in Traverse City and outstanding service! Thanks again we will be back again soon!

I enjoyed their black bean burger and my company enjoyed their classic burger. The waffle fries were well seasoned and addicting! Service was a bit slow, maybe due to going late afternoon. The nice dining room made it a clean and enjoyable experience. I will be back!

We went during restaurant week, so it was not the normal menu. However - we both got a 3 course meal for $25 each! The food was great quality with beautiful presentation.

Very flavorful food, absolutely delicious! Randomly stopped in for a meal with a friend while we were visiting traverse city and we were not disappointed, the sweet, smokey and some spice flavors complimented each other very well. Burger and fries were great, and the specialty shrimp dinner was amazing. I highly recommend this establishment and will return on my next visit to the city.

Ordered the pork rib/pulled pork combo, served with warm German potato salad. I also ordered the black bean chili to start. The chilli was very tasty, nice and thick. Plenty of beans and a little bit of heat. The combo plate came with a mound of pulled pork and three meaty rib bones. The ribs were served dry, with a cup of sauce on the side. Really appreciate this presentation as too many places serve ribs awash in sauce. The ribs were tender, with a few crusty patches of "bark" for contrast. The pulled pork was all meat, no big chunks of fat. No gristle at all. Quality. There were a number of alternative sauces available. I just took what came as standard. It was not too sweet, and carried a surprising amount of heat. Nothing overwhelming, but not at all the syrupy-sweet red sauce I was expecting. Really delicious. The main came with a side of baked beans, again surprised to find the chef used a light hand on the sugar. Very good. The potato salad was just perfect. Cut fingerling potatoes, spicy brown mustard, onions. Very good. Along side the potato salad were some veggies I assumed were cooked carrots and zucchini. Not a fan of those, but again (pleasant surprise) unexpectedly they were pickled raw carrots and cucumber. Crispy. Tangy. Delightful. The restaurant has a full bar, and I enjoyed a pre dinner cocktail. A mule made with ginger beer and Michigan-made bourbon. I decided against an after dinner drink, but they did have some excellent choices available. All in all, just a great experience.

I'm 68 yrs old. I consider the meal I had there to be in the top 5 meals I've ever had. Simply outstanding. The St. Louis ribs are beyond words. The warm potato salad is the best PS I've ever had. Outstanding.

So, so very good. I wasn't even really that hungry when I walked in...then the smells hit you. Your stomach starts rumbling and suddenly you have just a lil to much saliva. It's mouth watering not even 3 steps in the front door. Kate behind the bar is an absolute pro, Abigail was on point at the entrance. I came in wanting a salad. I had a terrible decision to make between the Truffle Huffer Burger and the Smoked Beef Pastrami. The burger won out...and next time, I know to go slower. It was too good, it disappeared so quickly. Oh, and the waffle fries......perfect. Can't wait to come back!

Great find in traverse city. Best meal we had all week. Friendly bartenders, food was definitely different and amazing. Pork belly is a must order. It came with the smoked squash crepe, and then we ordered two more sides because it was that fabulous.

Doesn't look like much from the outside as the garden in front is untended, but they have a vast variety of local wines, brews and pops/sodas. Furthmore, their food is outstanding!! My fiance and I got the burger and ribs... OMG they were delicious!!!
