We have always had a great time dinning here. We've eaten here four times in the many years we've lived in Humboldt County. We most recently went for our anniversary to splurge. We made reservations, a MUST if you want to eat, & even though we waited almost an hour after our reservation time it was WELL worth the wait. The hostess was always checking in with us. He asked us if we minded waiting a bit longer. We said, "That's fine, it's our anniversary, we're in no hurry." He thanked us for choosing Moonstone to celebrate. He also said that since we didn't mind waiting he would get us an exceptional view. Well, he was right. We got to sit down & watch the most amazing sunset, without being blinded or obstructed. As I said before, it was well worth the wait. It was the best anniversary dinner we've had yet. We don't get to go very often, but when we do everyone is so friendly, professional & courteous. If we could afford to, we'd eat here ALL THE TIME!! The chef takes pride in his cooking, and it really shows. I've had nothing but AMAZING food from his kitchen. Great job guys & gals. Keep up the amazing work.
Sunset and oysters and martinis at the bar! What's a better dinner!? Well if you're lucky enough to get a not-on-the-menu burger, add a warm spinach salad, and then you may have the best meal in the county that night ;)
We are locals who love Moonstone anytime, and we have made a tradition of dining on Christmas Eve with friends for the past decade. See you there!
My son goes to Humboldt State University, and we came upon this amazing restaurant one evening. We saw a lovely sunset and had such great food. I am so excited to go back in 2 weeks and bringing my daughter also to experience this wonderful restaurant. Also loved the cocktails!

Excellent food and the views are amazing! This place is so busy so make sure you make a reservation! Happy hour is 5-6:30 on and good prices!

Loved the appetizer menu. My boyfriend and I went last month!! We had not been there for a while and we were so happy! We had several different oysters, lobster bisque, octopus, grilled scallops on a salt block, smoked albacore wantons and mushroom risotto & Quail!! We really wanted to try as many things on the menu we could! The flavors were great, so many new things to try!!
Terrific!!!! Unbelievable location. Beautiful and right on the beach. Food was delicious but the selection on the vegetarian side was a bit lacking.

Food was really amazing! Great service, they gave us a free burrata salad because our mains were taking longer than usual. View was beautiful. Restaurant does need an interior update and it is very expensive, but the food was worth it.
Every seat had a great view of the ocean. Good variety of foods but pricey. I had whole trout entree and my husband had fish and chips. Both were very good. Great service.
I have worked with 5 star chefs for many years. I must say that I was so impressed with the presentation that I couldn't wait to dive into the dish. Oh, and let me tell you, the dish did not disappoint. It was exactly what I thought, DELICIOUS.
Kudos to the team at the Moonstone Grill, I look forward to visiting your other businesses when I'm back in town.

Always a place we like to take family out to when visiting or for special occasions, as the atmosphere and view are hard to beat. The food itself is also varied and delicious and we have yet to meet a dish we did not thoroughly enjoy. Our last venture included starting with some amazing Smoked Salmon wontons, and our main dishes were the Seared Ahi Tuna and Cioppino, both of which were delicious, flavorful, and filling. It can get quite busy there which results in a longer wait time, but it's worth the trip if you find yourself in the area.
The view is beautiful!!The food was amazing!! The staff was very friendly, the only complaint would be that the service was slow.
Hand a birthday dinner here and was impressed with the food. We did a few small plates, all were excellent. Caught the end of the sunset and enjoyed the front tow seats as the skys darkened. If you enjoy nice food in beautiful places like I do, you must give Moonstone a try.
Great place right by the beach. Crab cakes were so good! Scallops were good but the rice was strangely undercooked. Great cut of new York strip .... But it was cooked to well done when we asked for medium. They made us another one but had to wait. The waitress was super nice though and got the problem fixed asap.
Clam chowder was also very good!
Beautiful place on the beach to sit on the deck and enjoy your food.
We walked in at 5pm and had no problem getting a table.
Fantastic experience. The food was exceptional. Had the lobster fettuccine and it was so creamy. The surf and turf was perfectly done and it was a huge portion of halibut. Pricey, but great quality.

It had an amazing view. The menu was good and varied as well. The dishes were tasty, and the staff was nice. However, all that said, we felt it was overpriced. The restaurant has 5 star prices with 3 star fare. I feel like it was good food, but it wasn't 5 star food. Our bill was over $700 for seven people, and we did not order alcohol. The abalone dish was $105, but came with two abalone and angel hair pasta and brussel sprouts. We also had Alaskan Halibut, Lobster Tail, Cioppone, Halbit and Chips, and Butternut Squash. For appetizers we had the cheese board, oysters, wontons, crabcakes. For dessert we ordered cheesecake, creme brulee, brandies cherries, and chocolate cake. The brandied cherries dessert was brandied cherries atop 2 big scoops of vanilla ice cream. We were only served two cherries though??? We mentioned this and it was suggested that next time we visit that we ask for extra cherries (instead of offering to fix it and bring some more??). On the way to the restroom, we noticed most tables had a bread basket. We hadn't received one, so asked for one to be sent to the table, but it never was delivered. Again, the view and staff was amazing, but overall we left underwhelmed.
Superb food, friendly and attentive service (thank you Chloe for answering all my questions; thanks Eric for your genuine warmth and attentiveness, and cool music playlist), gorgeous views (from inside window table). Def recommend and would return! PS. Heat lamps would fit on the outside deck between tables—that would help.
You can't beat the location. It's definitely got an old feel to it and needs some remodeling. But it's part of the Humboldt vibe. Food is great and so is the staff!
Tasteful meal, and efficient service. Everyone was very happy with dinner. The music was chill and down tempo. Nice place to catch a dinner,especially if you hit sunset hour.
