I like kingfisher as a whole but when you look at their food against other seafood dominant restaurants it’s a little lackluster. It’s good but it’s not a regular spot for me. It could be that most of their patrons are older so bolder flavors maybe don’t sell well. The atmosphere is great and the service staff is exceptional.
Loved everything about this place. I was skeptical going in, as the menu didn't strike me as my type of thing. Boy, was I wrong. This place is AMAZING! The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is incredible (I have never had so many happy and attentive servers and they all just flow and rotate to make everything enjoyable and smooth) & the food was excellent. Definitely will return.
This was our first time here and surely won't be the last... From the hello at the door walking in to our food recommendations and the taste and quality of the food, this place is surely a must visit in Tucson... I got the oysters on the half shell and they were absolutely delicious as well as I also got the salad nicoise and the seared ahi tuna literally melted in my mouth...
My husband got the fish and chips, and not only was the fish awesome, but the coleslaw and fries were spot on delicious!!!! Ended with a gelato that was smooth and creamy, and oh the drinks were great too!!!
Wonderful experience. Mentioned we had an allergy in online reservation, our server let us know he was aware and would guide us in our selection. Calamari was delicately seasoned. Vegetarian plate was delicious, broccolini was on point. The special was pan seared branzino and it was amazing, as was the bean and squash sides. Wish I remembered to take pictures.
I held a business luncheon here and it was fantastic. We didn't get the private room but my party of 10 had no problem hearing and talking across the table. The food was FANTASTIC! Everyone loved what they ordered including the soups, fish and chips, special of the day, salads and I had the Poke. It was delish. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was classy but homey. Will definitely be back.
Clam chowder was excellent. Also really liked the parsley spread that came with the bread and my Espresso martini was to die for! For entrees, my husband really loved his trout. Fish and Chips were alright.. a little on the greasy side and fries were cut weird/thin but overall flavor and cook on batter and fish was pretty good. Being from the Midwest I get a hankering for good fish fry and may be a little picky. I would say for the price you might be better off ordering something else because everything else we tried was amazing.
Liked the atmosphere aside from our booth having a couple cracks. Restaurant was clean and fairly updated considering how old the place is. Service was extremely attentive and friendly which was refreshing as it seems hard to find good service these days! Will say there's a lot of older patrons here but the place is great so they must be on to something! Will definitely be back! Thank you for making it a great birthday dinner!
Returning here after 4 years, I found the service and food to be just as wonderful as I remember! The creative cocktails never disappoint, and the list is small enough to not overwhelm. My wife loooooves the steamed mussels, and I had the delicious fried calamari. Although the creme brûlée is no longer on the menu, the NY-style cheesecake was very well done.
It was surprisingly slow for a Friday night, and the music was a strange selection, but we enjoyed our evening! I would recommend Kingfisher to anyone, 10/10.
The whole pork dish seemed sour, sweet. The conch ceviche was too sour, inedible, I barely tried it. And also because of the prices, they should redecorate a little more modern, because it looks dirty, not because it's old. this third time we sat at the bar que fue muy buena la atencion.
Kingfisher is an interesting juxtaposition of food, service, decor, and ambiance that provides a generally pleasant experience but leaves one wanting for... something...
First, the food: based on the menu, you have appetizers that don't fit with the entrees (French-style steamed mussels in white wine and garlic, for example [we got the similar clams, which were delicious], then fish entrees with decidedly Mexican flavors). Everything tasted good, but the flavors weren't necessarily complimentary. Overall the food was quite good - and flavorful - but definitely lacked in its presentation (see photos).
Wine: they have an extensive wine list (mostly domestic) with a nice variety of bottles and selections by the glass.
The decor was sparse yet disjointed, nothing really went together. Dimly lit, it could have made for a romantic atmosphere but nothing about it feels cozy.
The staff were all pleasant and efficient. They were also knowledgeable about the menu and knew to inform us immediately that they were out of a couple of items (we dined there late on a Friday evening).
Overall, this place is worth a try, but I don't think it will be a regular spot for me, personally.
Good seafood and fresh. It had a very good server and a very nice environment. Good bar selection with a moderate beer list.
