Love love love this place! Food is fresh, cooked to perfection from pancakes to the hash and every other breakfast plate you can think of. I cant wait to go back and try the Bloody Mary, sounds delish! The staff is always friendly, very helpful in giving menu suggestions/favorites, never wait long to get the food, great atmosphere and very clean! The food is apparently cooked with love....see photo for reference! ♥️
Stopped by for breakfast while in Tucson on a Wednesday morning based on good reviews and recommendations.
The parking is right in front of the restaurant, and there is plenty in the shopping center around if you don't manage to land a spot right out front. As soon as I pulled up, I noticed a nice patio area as an option for outdoor seating.
When I walked in, I was quickly and pleasantly greeted by my server and seated near a window. The restaurant has a vibe that feels like a cross between a classic American diner and a sports bar and grill. The atmosphere felt very relaxed and chill back with rasta type beats playing softly overhead. The kitchen is open across a bar, and the staff is very friendly and attractive.
Since it was my first visit to the restaurant, my server recommended a Benedict as that is what they are known for. He also informed me that this restaurant is a site of filming for an episode of the show Man vs. Food. Which I discovered was very fitting as the portions are extremely generous! I decided to order the Monsoon Benedict, which is served with a pesto hollandaise sauce topped with arugula and a balsamic reduction. As a fisrt time customer, I was also served a complimentary Snickerdoodle Pancacke! For a beverage option, I did order the macchiato espresso, but that is the only mention it will receive in this review.
The Benedict was served with a healthy portion of hashbrowns that are everything you'd want in a classic diner hashbrown. Hot golden and crispy exterior while fluffy on the inside, and not at all greasy.
The Benedict itself was the star of the show! By far, the most delicious thing on the plate was the pesto hollandaise sauce! With the grilled tomato, smokey bacon, and avacado combined with the creamy yolk of the perfectly soft poached egg and peppery arugula, it tasted like a blast of California mixed with my favorite classic Italian tomato and basil combo. The balsamic reduction atop the arugula really helped break up the richness of the totem below. Although serving Benedicts on an English muffin is classic, I could have gone without the bread base and ate it with just the hashbrown. At the mention of this, my server advised that they do serve any of the Benedicts over a tamale base, which I would be eager to try next time!
The Snickerdoodle pancake was also a very generous size as it covered nearly the entire plate! It was topped with a cinnamon sugar dusting and a vanilla cream cheese glaze. If you are sensitive to sweets, you've been warned! This is enough sugar to transport you back to when you were 10 years old on Halloween night! The pancake itself was absolutely delightful. The interior of the confection was cloud-like and perfectly pillowy. Classic A+ American diner buttermilk pancake, through and through!
Overall, I would say that this place is definitely worth a visit, not only once, but multiple times over, to try the different offering on the menu! Thank you Baja Cafe!
Cute and busy place to get food. Very local advertisements and advocacy which I really like. The food is large portioned and more than delicious. The server was nice and checked up on us occasionally. The meals are reasonably priced and you do get a lot more than you think. It’s almost impossible to not take the rest to go. We ordered some tacos and French toast. I looooved the eggs. I demolished those first and the hash browns are top notch. I would definitely go here again.
I have been to the Campbell location twice in one week. Sunday as a couple date and Wednesday as with business partners. Destin was our first server. He’s spunky and makes you feel relaxed studying menu…. We changed our minds a few times. The pancakes delivered sinful deliciousness to my weight I’m trying to shake.
Wednesday, Jesse was our server and he was pleasant and patient and funny.
This time I had tacos. Devoured them to the pint I had to make a bib 😂
I look forward to next week as I set up another business meeting.
This was our first visit to Baja Cafe and we will definitely be back! It was packed, but we were seated immediately and our food and drinks were served within ten minutes of ordering. The food was fresh and delicious. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the bustle in the kitchen. We enjoyed a Black Widow and a Coyote benny, and we shared a waffle (to try). Everything tasted amazing! I also enjoyed a super tasty Yosemite Bloody Mary. This is a new favorite brunch spot for us!
Their portions are big, everything we had there was really good. We got cinnamon roll pancake on the house since we were visiting Baja Cafe for the first time!
It's been a while since I've been impressed with a breakfast dish! The Wolverine eggs benedict are a flavorful explosion!! The sauces are delicious.
My sister loves the classic huevos rancheros. The salsas are perfection!
I prefer no cotija cheese. Everything else is perfect even the crispy hashbrowns. First time I eat some without ketchup needed!😋the snicker doodle pancake is pure mouthwatering yummyness. Alicia is an outstanding waitress. My first time here! I'll be back for sure!
I had the Black Widow, which was delicious, but rather heavy. Everything on the menu seems very rich, but I chose one of the healthier options (although it had both cream cheese and hollandaise sauce with a side of hashbrowns). I didn't eat the hashbrowns, but I did have a small sample and they were cooked just right. I opted to try a waffle. The waffles are made with dough and are crispy on the outside, but doughy in the middle. I didn't mind that, but others might not like the texture. The service was outstanding. The staff are friendly and full of joy. It was a very pleasant experience. The coffee is very good too. To me, the price is quite high for breakfast. The Black Widow, waffles (two small waffles are served and I took one home), and coffee was over $30. There are other places to go that have healthier options made with equally fresh ingredients at a slightly lower price point.
I love Baja Cafe! The food is amazingly delicious. The servers are professional and so friendly. I have never had a bad meal. This is number one on my list of restaurants to bring my out of town visitors to. I love the short rib tacos, they keep me coming back.
First time visiting this restaurant. Visited after hearing from a friend. Food was top notch. The place was packed with customers. Though it was busy, the server was very attentive and gave some good suggestions regarding the menu.
I can't speak enough about how delicious the food is here. The first visit we did a sweet and salty share and that was ideal for the pancakes while out of this world get to be a bit much. We returned the next day to try more and the Waffles were divine and I want more.
If you happen to be in the area for breakfast or lunch...a place worth considering. However...do know you can expect to wait to be served and it will be well worth the wait and more!
