Our first visit on our first wedding anniversary. I usually don't take the time to comment but this place was so fabulous I am compelled. The food was so perfectly prepared that I recall each and every bite. The atmosphere was wonderful for our occasion and very romantic. We particularly enjoyed the live flamenco guitar player who was excellent. The staff was very well-trained and attentive. Even if you arrive without a reservation and must wait for a table, it will be well worth your wait.
The BEST steak we’ve ever had!! Thank you Chef Gary and our great waiter Aubrey. The food was incredible, the service was terrific, and the atmosphere was perfect. We had the best experience and highly recommend this restaurant.
Great service, All staff was very kind.. Great food!! A whole new level of mouth watering steak.. I don't even eat SEA FOOD, BUT... The LOBSTER was delicious!! Thank you Charro Steak for making my family and I a wonderful tasty dinner! And thank you for allowing us to eat in the Mesquite room, where we enjoy watching tv while dining. Not to mention the best desserts, the Nutella Tamal was amazing, I scraped the plate. Shhh.. The Peanut butter Tres Leche cake was very moist and delicious. We will definitely be going back.. From my family and i thank you Charro Steak
Beyond loved dining at Charro Steak! My senses were awakened by the most tender, flavorful, perfectly seasoned steak orchestrated by the very pleasant & talented Chef Ernesto. Casi una experiencia religiosa! Definitely the best steak in Tucson, hands down. Great friendly service (unaffected by their busyness) & perfect ambience with live music. Huge plus: my Malbec was on point! Love their non gmo grass fed beef-- pure quality all around! Looking forward to my next visit.
Beyond excellent service that took care of our every need; this farm to table, grass fed steak, scratch kitchen restaurant kills it in Tucson. So flavorful; with melt in the mouth steak, my hubbies new favorite meatballs, and an excellent vegetable salad. We can't wait to come back again next year and try more menu items. Thank you charrosteak.
Came here before a show in Tucson. Atmosphere is warm and friendly. Service is some of the best we've EVER experienced. The food??? Absolutely cannot go wrong with anything on the menu! We rarely eat out because we tend to be somewhat picky but Charro Steak provided one of the best dinners we have ever had!!!
Highly HIGHLY recommend!!!

Ambience - 5 Star
Service - 5 Star - Our waiter Aubrey was attentive, friendly and helpful. Not once did he rush us during our 2 hour dinner
Food - 5 Star the different flavors all married together was superb
I will be back and highly recommend it to anyone going to Tucson
The food was amazing from appetizers to main dishes. The drinks were awesome! The spicy jalapeño margarita is a must and beer was nice and cold. Can't wait to go back! Pricy but worth it!
Excellent downtown steakhouse, operated by a Tucson family who know amazing food! Love this spot. Great for entertaining, and has great ambiance. Best meat in town!
Everything was prepared to specifications. Many dishes were over and above expectations. Our server was instructed that we were dining and set the pace accordingly. Tastings of new beer were above and beyond, and our critique was readily accepted as well as my food pairing suggestions.
We were both impressed. I’d go back
Place is top notch .. food is absolutely amazing :)
Best 32oz Ribey Tomahawk steak I’ve had in a while :)
Nom Nom
The salsa was delicious, and the ribeye was 10/10. We also enjoyed the seasoning on the fries. The other sides (brussel sprouts, esquites, beans) were okay, but nothing special. We liked that the fundido was served with chicharones - it was a nice touch. Overall, we'd come back for the steak.
Excellent food. I went with my friend and ordered the filet steak medium rare with asparagus and was amazing. Champagne strawberries were delicious. Our waitress was Pam and she was excellent. Very good service, and the Sangria wine was exquisite. Comida esquisito .Highly recommend this restaurant.
Went here for an early Thanksgiving dinner. The only downside was the dessert. We ordered the strawberries. Wouldnt order them again. The steaks were delicious! I got the filet cooked medium rare. It was perfect. Loved the sides of asparagus & mashed potatoes too!
Very pretty restaurant. The food is spicy, and clean tasting. A perfect restaurant for a date, the atmosphere is beautiful. The food is for sure healthy. However, it is a bit pricey. So if you have money to spend, I would recommend. I don’t have a picture of my meal, but the dessert was indeed good. My only complaint about the dessert is that it was a bit to sweet for my liking. But absolutely beautiful appearance!
Atmosphere was perfect! Food (lobster queso, porterhouse & trout) , drinks (espresso martini) & service (Anthony) were all exceptional. Can’t wait to go again. The perfect dining experience
This was our first time here....
The $45/person menu
- Ahi Cheviche - seared ahi, avacado, citrus
- All natural Furoc Pork Porterhouse (Bone-in mezquite fired porterhouse with prickly pear glaze and apple/jalapeno slaw. )
- P.B.&C Tres Leches (peanut butter frosting, chocolate spiced peanuts and shot of cold milk.)
The Ahi ceviche had generous amounts of cubed ahi, seared on one side along with pickeled onions. Outstanding! Fresh, fresh ahi!
The Pork porterhouse was cooked to perfection and was really tender and moist. The glaze tasted like typical barbeque sauce. The apple/jalapeno slaw had an excessive amount of heat from the jalapenos. The restaurant did not stock watermelon juice to kill the burn.
The PB&C turned out to be a cake with the peanut butter fosting and peanuts. The side shot of milk was unusual but welcomed.
Really great!
The restaurant was not busy, but the delivery of the mains were delayed by 5-7 minutes as the server was not available. The food sat on the kitchen shelf and cooled off, maybe the pork was resting??? The real question was why didn't someone else help out???
Over all a great meal, just bring watermelon juice for the spicer items.
I will be back again to try out the steaks.
This was such a lovely date night. The waitress was outstanding, the atmosphere was so pleasant and the live music was just perfect. The food was good with a lot of modern twists on classic dishes.

The Pollo Asado was fall-off-the-bone tender and full of flavor. The mini chimis were different, but good different. The Charro Burger was excellent and $5 off during Happy Hour. The Esquites con Crema felt dry and overcooked; we asked the waitress and she said that's how it's served.
Two of us had decent meal. The chefs cut steak was a nice selection with the lobster. Wedge salad could be more robust. Mac n cheese, street corn and beef were were all fine. Maybe ask to sit in the main dining area as we experienced service challenges in the bar seating area.
I was so excited to try Del Ray. I was going to have Salmon but I asked the waitress what she recommended and she said hands down the filet. So I ordered it medium rare, it came out rare, the presentation was great but unfortunately, my steak was full of grizzle. It was hard to cut it had so much, I was flustered I eat red meat a few times a year, so to go get an (expensive) steak that is supposed to be tender and melt in my mouth, wow, I can't tell you how many bites I hid in my napkin from the steak being so grizzly I couldn't eat it. I was very disappointed. The sides were Fantastic, specifically the mini chimis, I'll go there again just for those! Yummy. The ambiance was nice and the service was not too attentive and just enough checking in with us. Other than the steak, the main attraction, being disappointing the experience was nice and I will go again to try the salmon and the mini-chimis again!

Sometimes I search for a place to eat and see that it has several reviews with over a 4 star rating and I hope that it lives up to it. In this case we were not disappointed. We were greater by a very friendly and genuinely nice smile, seated immediately and where we wanted to sit. Our waiter Chris was excellent in providing a very pleasant experience for our 1st time of many to this very classic style restaurant. Now parking will be an issue so if you are staying at the AC hotel across the street, then you are in best of fortune to dine here. Otherwise, you will either have to pay for parking or take a short walk from 1 of the parking spots around the area. Atmosphere was inviting, music was quite appropriate and not so loud so that you can hear each other. We will definitely be back.
Dining at Charro Steak & Del Ray is an experience. The atmosphere is intimate and comfortable and each dish was thoughtfully plated making a statement arriving to our table. Our interactions with the waitstaff were friendly, accommodating and diligent.
Notable eats: The table side guac provides a generous portion, ahi ceviche has a robust flavor profile, especially in the juice. The Tomahawk steak (not listed on the menu) was beautiful. Cooked to perfection, tender and rich with flavor. We enjoyed the food and went back for takeout several nights later.
Areas for improvement: Dining inside was very cold for my taste. Towards the end of our meal, the staff was turning the restaurant for closing. Fully cleaning and stacking the chairs left us feeling rushed and somewhat uncomfortable. Although we were dinning late I would recommend waiting until guest have left as it affected our experience. I understand running out of food can happen, however Charro Steak was out of mashed potatoes which was disappointing for an establishment that focuses on offering red meats.
Charro Steak & Del Rey. Karen approved.
A Tucson must go. Food came in within minutes and was cooked amazingly. The steak was tender and packed with flavor.
The food has always been really flavorful and service are waiter was very attentive and kept up with everything even though it was kind of busy
My new favorite restaurant. The wait was worth it. We caught them on a very busy night. Service was impeccable and I can't say enough about the mouthwatering steak and lobster tail I had. mmmm mmmm
Amazingly delicious ❤️ Ty All.
This should be 10 STARS! This is like combining the best steakhouse you can imagine with a top Mexican restaurant. Everything from the salsa and chips to the enchiladas to the appetizers to the steak is over the top good. This restaurant needs to be featured on Foot Network, the genius behind combing these traditional Mexican flavors with outstanding steakhouse favorites create some of the most gastronomic flavors in Arizona. And the Sangria, wow, so good. Oh, I should mention the staff were all very professional and sweet too.
This isn't a "cheap eats" restaurant, this is fairly pricey restaurant but it is worth every penny in my opinion. It was $200 for 3 of us with two appetizers, 3 meals, and one Sangria. Again, I am not complaining about the price because this is some of the best food you will find in Arizona.
The next time I am in Tucson, I am 100% getting a reservation here.
