Went to Boca right as it opened - no wait. The chips and salsa flight was good and the chips were still warm. The different flavors of salsa were also very good. There are a lot of varieties of tacos and they were delicious. The salad wasn’t my favorite but the avocado vinaigrette was tasty and I’d get the tacos again. The service was also very good.
We went down to Tucson to visit our daughter yesterday. I had scoped this place out in advance, and was glad I did. Parking on 4th Avenue can be a little challenging, but I found a spot after just a few minutes. From the outside, this place didn't look like much, but inside it has lots of charm and character. We ordered the guacamole, which was listed as market price. Should have known it would be ridiculously priced, especially for how little you got. Our server made a couple recommendations after I asked. The Macho and Dan Gibson were hands down our favorites. It's a bit expensive but really quite good. Did I mention they bring you fresh fried tortilla chips, so good!
Been here about 10 times, usually lunch but also dinner and it never disappoints. The food and drinks are always outstanding and there is a good vibe, plus outdoor seating. We’ve gone through almost everything on the menu, highlights: the boca balls for a starter, the beans, and of course the tacos- macho, Dan Gibson, puerco verde, Al pastor, cauliflower, pescado and the salmon taco was surprisingly great. Add an egg or a hashbrown or grilled onions to your taco, you won’t regret.
Great tacos with very enjoyable salsas made daily. Most were spicy, which isn’t my jam, but I tried them all and thought they were great!
The tacos were also delicious but were a bit reliant on the meat and didn’t necessarily excel beyond, with sauces, salsas, and other garnishes.
The bigger issue was the service which is as dismal when you arrive as other reviews say. About 7 minutes before anyone talked to us.
And even then - another 3 or 4 minutes to clear a dirty table… and that was with a reservation 💁🏼♂️
A great place. They have a fun selection of salsa for their home made chips. Then you can select individual tacos that all seemed very good. Sat outside and relaxed.
Worth the 50-minute wait!
Great service and very wallet friendly 😁
We ordered Guacamole Duo, 4 tacos: Dan Gibson, Al Pastor, Pescasdo, Veggie
2 drinks: Pueblo Vida Cereus IPA, Pineapple Express
We hadn't been to BOCA for several years due to their somewhat rocky move from the original Speedway Blvd. location, where we were regulars. Following their switch to full table service, let's just say we had some bad experiences; we always preferred the old "place-your-order-and-take-your-number-and-find-a-seat" system.
Returned this weekend and the service was fine (it wasn't busy, though). Most importantly, the food was good. We ordered the Macho, Pescado and Rajas tacos. The exotic salsas and homemade chips were, and have always been, great! We also are fans of the BOCA balls. Our tortillas fell apart, though; it would be nice if they doubled those up, and silverware would have been appreciated. Overall, we liked it! Didn't love it, but liked it!
Stunning restaurant. My first visit was December.2.2023.
Maria's recipes are so tasty and creative. A new Gem for my future enjoyment.
We loved it here. The tacos were delicious and they had different types of salsas very unique and tasty 😋
Super yummy food! Definitely a busy place so make a reservation if able, or be willing to potentially wait! The food and experience was stellar and I would definitely recommend dining here.
We had tacos, chicken quesadilla, and the chips and salsa flight. Everything was really tasty and food was hot! Chips are made fresh to the table and are mouth watering good.
Al pastor and shrimp tacos — tasty and delicious. Would recommend either! The shrimp tacos are marinated in margarine NOT butter so they are dairy free which is a huge bonus.
Chicken tacos were a solid option, however, the person who ate them was disappointed that they opted for the corn tortillas. The tortillas fell apart and couldn’t hold up for the filling.
Steak quesadilla sub chicken was yummy and filled with real cheese. Not just the orange stuff haha. The person who ate it was happy they were able to swap meats and enjoyed it very much.
Only meh food was the beans and the spicier of the salsa flights. They are not for people that don’t like a little heat!
The food here is incredible! The flavors are delicious and each food item is cooked to perfection. They have some delicious taco flavors and I enjoyed the Pulpo Asada (flavored grilled octopus). I found that their cocktails are on the smaller side and didn't have as much flavor as I would have hoped.
Note that it's popularity makes it quite crowded during the evening, but around lunch, there is plenty of space.
Food was great. Our initial server wasn't interested in working on Christmas Eve. Should have stayed home. He was dismissive. A second server finished helping us and was great. This is the favorite of a friend and was our first stop after flying into Tucson. Tacos are very good for sure.
Salsa flight had a wide variety of flavors for different appetites. Salsas were spicy (habenero/serrano). Chips were fresh, hot, and delicious. Arrived in a brown paper to-go bag. Some of the best in-house chips I have tried. Asada steak was thin, tender, and marinaded well. Quesadilla (small) was actually a good size and the picture hides the other half of the quesadilla sitting below the deliciously crispy cheese. Adding the steak to the quesadilla was a great touch. One of the most affordable places in Tucson. This restaurant hit a spot that I didn't know needed hitting. I highly recommend this place.
Finally, finally, finally got to try what everyone's been talking about and I'm so happy I did! Maria did this right! Started with a recommended Pineapple drink and made to order tortilla chips with a flight of sauces. Every one of them was phenomenal, I especially loved the banana habenero and the tomatillo sauces. I'd come back just for the chips! Then on to the Asada and El Pastor tacos. My taste buds were singing. I tried a bite of Pulpa Asada my BFF ordered and it was delicious with the grilled onions. Thanks to my dear, best friend for suggesting and bringing me here. I'd highly recommend, the only thing that would have made it better would have been Maria being here.
Friendly and fast service. I liked the variety of margaritas. Definitely liked the different tequila and mezcal flights. Loved the salsa fight since it changes often. They were all house made. Surprisingly really liked the banana one. Chips were fresh. I liked that I could add a boca ball to my tacos.
