We stopped in at 12:15 pm on 12/23/22. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quickly. We got 4 pastries and it came out to $5! Amazing! The best by far was the donut. The cream cheese pastry cake in second. The pumpkin empanada tasted like baby food. The gingerbread pig actually didn’t taste too strongly of gingerbread. It was a little hard around the edges too. I would go back just for the donut and I would try other pastries too!

I attached pictures to show the location. I had a little bit of difficulty finding this bakery. Google didn’t specify that it was located in the mercado. Had I known that it would have been much easier to find. That’s was my only issue. Other then that the sweet bread was fresh and flaky. It was amazing. I had heard excellent things about La Estrella Bakery so I decided to visit to find out what all the hype was about. They certainly didn’t let me down. The ladies working were professional and once I told them I hadn’t been there before… we’re kind enough to explain what they had and the price system. I walked out with a box full of their yummy goodies! Thank you La Estrella Bakery for showing me a great experience & keeping me full & happy! =)

Absolutely delicious Mexican bakery with a wide variety of desserts. We tried three different pastries and all were delicious. Beautifully made and fun colors! I was expecting to pay several dollars especially as the prices weren’t posted. Imagine my surprise when the total was around $2! Great deal and I’ll definitely return. Though the indoor space is small, there is a large outdoor seating area shared with the rest of Mercado San Agustin. The staff were very friendly.

This bakery was recommended to us during our visit to Tucson and so glad we went. It’s in a beautiful courtyard market that includes restaurants, boutiques, and a coffee shop. Pastries are delicious and not dried out at all (which I am picky about). The gal at the counter was nice, helpful made recommendations since we were unfamiliar with most Mexican pastries. We got concha’s, donuts, empanadas, and a few other things she just put I our bag for us. We also bought a bag of homemade tortillas that were still warm. All of this AND a bottled coffee drink from the fridge for only $20. Go here!

Reliably great! Top picks are the conchas (soft and tender), semitas (barely sweet with anise seeds, yum), and the glazed or chocolate donuts. Bonus points for the mini sizes. Also good corn tortillas! Beautiful location too!

Sweet spot in the Mercado San Agustin. Mexican pastries, paletas and tortillas and some packages goods like chiltepins. Our favorite is the gingerbread pigs (cochinos).

La Estrella is my go to. Everything here is amazing! You can’t go wrong! My favorites are the cannolis, empanadas, and glazed donut. Everything is also very reasonably priced. We got everything pictured below for $16.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Authentic pastries and they all taste great. The Apple empanada was delicious but there’s something about the classic glazed donut that did it for me. Prices are phenomenal. We got four pastries for $4. That’s how much one donut can be at a specialty bakery. Don’t change La Estrella bakery, you’re doing a good job!

I don't buy my tortillas anywhere else. Best tortillas in town and the pastries magnificent. The donuts are way better than any other shop in town too. Soft, sweet and decedent.
