I'm new to Tucson, so I have not eaten at one of the African or Caribbean restaurants in the city. I went back and forth and decided on Caribbean food and Googled the closest place to me, which was D's. The restaurant itself only had a few tables, so it's small, but he smell of spicy food hit me right away. I ordered the Jerk Chicken, a ginger beer, and a cucumber splash, which was a cucumber and ginger drink, and my order came within 10 minutes. Everything was delicious! I got my meal with a side of steamed vegetables, and they were seasoned just right. I also had a big serving of red beans and rice. D's Island Grill JA is worth a try.

Have eaten here a couple times now and the food and service are consistently great! This past time, I got the jerk pork and my friend got the jerk chicken. Both dishes were very flavorful and the pork had a nice smokey taste to it. It also was not dry at all! Pros: Tasty food Generous portions Quick and kind service Cons: Small fee for using your credit card

Some of the best food I've had in Tucson! Had the jerk chicken with beans and rice, steamed veggies and a little fry bread. Plantains are a must anywhere I do and they were amazing. Everything was so delishhhh and flavorful. Can't wait to go back!

So glad to come across D’s Island Grill on UberEats — the menu offers an excellent change of pace, with a wide range of proteins to please all (chicken, tilapia, snapper, shrimp, goat, oxtail, pork, and more). Thoroughly enjoyed our three entrees (jerk chicken, tilapia tacos, and curry shrimp), and there are several veg items available too (callaloo, ackee, plantains, rice and beans, etc.). The portions are well-cooked and -packaged, and they’re also extremely generous — made two dinners and a lunch out of our order and felt as though we’d even added in dessert, with those yummy sweet fry breads. Delicious food done with care — really shows that it’s a family-owned restaurant that puts plenty of heart into its cooking!

This is the best Jamaican food I’ve had since being in Jamaica. You have to call in an hour ahead for any of the red snapper dishes, or else wait an hour for it to be prepared as the fish is, of course, frozen. Completely WORTH IT. 🤤 Love the whole in the wall, eating in the family kitchen vibe. So grateful to have this Caribbean option in Tucson!!

This is an authentic Jamaican spot. Great food quality and good service. Recently tried their coconut shrimp and chicken quesadilla which were delicious but I’ve also had the jerk chicken platter. They never disappoint and make me feel like I’m back on the island. I love that they’re close to home as well.

I must say that it has been a while since i have had the delightful taste & aroma of jamacian food being prepared as well as that taste. Grandma used to make the most delicious foods i grew up having the honor of chewing and eating every week. From oxtail to curry goat to coconut drops, she went the full spectrum to give me tastes from her home and i loved them. I get that same from this place. The curry goat is just as she made it as well as the curry chicken. And my favorite part...the rice! Oh my gods and goddesses...this is the best part of the plates here. Having that combination of the meats crossing over with the rice in your mouth is a sensational event. With the reason for my grabbing this meal being a celebration of my youngest son turning 12, i went for the meal from here. It was a delight that brought me back in time as well as gave good vibes out to my son & my grandmothers memory. Give this place a shot if you have similar memories of growing up with a family from Jamaica or even if you wonder what the tastes of the West Indies is like. You will not be disappointed
