I have been trying to get to this place for a long time. It was well worth it. Got the recommended dog, brisket and Cole slaw on top of a 1/4 pound hot dog on a grill piece of Texas toast shaped with a square bottom so it stands on it's own.
Fried pickles and a drink almost put me I a food coma! It was so good. The dog was made to perfection. For my taste the sauce was a bit sweet but not a deal breaker.
For my taste I would prefer dill pickles instead of butter pickles but I ate every bite.
This spot is a special occasion joint for me. If I ate there all the time I would be broke and gain one hundred pounds.

Awesome place! Great taste! Gnarley Dawg is a must have if you are in the Tulsa area and are looking for some quality eats. They offer great combos and the food is prepared fresh and in a timely manner. Hands down would recommend this place to anybody, any day. The Kansas City dawg is an awesome choice and also there “Junkyard” option which includes any topping or sauce for free.

My wife and I visited Gnarly Dawg for lunch today. We were greeted immediately by a nice young man behind the counter. The menu is on the wall, and it is very nice and easy to read, with descriptions of the available items. The prices are very reasonable. I ordered the Denver burger with French fries. My wife ordered the Leroy Brown sandwich, a new menu item, with onion rings. The food preparation area is right there in the dining area, so it is easy to see your food being made. The prep area is very clean and organized. The dining room has a casual and clean feel, with some very neat decor of old license plates and automotive memorabilia. We got our food to go so we didn't stay to eat. Our food was made very quickly, packaged securely, and we were able to get back to work, where we ate. What we ordered was awesome in both portion size and taste. I highly recommend this establishment and will return to try other menu items!

Great locally owned place to eat. Very friendly and helpful owners that take care of you. My son goes for the different hotdog and sausages, and I love the choices of Burgers! Chili cheese fries and fried pickles are a must. Pictured is Okie burger with slaw and brisket on hamburger.

Oh my goodness, so, I have been passing this place for three months now on my way to our new store. I decided to try them out today, and holy smokes, it is the best hotdog I’ve ever had. I kept it simple and went with the Coney Island or and was surprised to see A slice of Texas toast as a bun. But after the first bite, I don’t think I will ever look at a normal hotdog bun the same. I had to do the curbside pick up today and not only was a great service with a smile but it was right on time as well. I highly recommend this place.

Damn good dogs, damn good portions! I’m large and could barely finish one dog and the side was more than I could finish. Well worth the value plus super friendly staff.

Had the Gnarley burger. The Gnarley sauce mixed with the grilled onions gives a great flavor, topped off by jalapenos and cheese sauce. A little messy, but worth it.

Yum 😋 yummy cheat day was well worth it. Service was great, food wait time was average. I wanted to order several items, don't go hungry with no control because you just might order 2 or more dogs for yourself. Will be Bach!!

The food was great! The staff was a little less approachable than I'd have liked, but they were courteous and efficient. I had the Gnarley.

Such an amazing place! The staff was friendly and very helpful! Portions are great! Definitely only need one dog but worth eating a second!! The food is amazing!!

New wife owner was rude. Overcharged, my $6 meal came out to be $11. The Previous owner was a lot nicer.
The previous owners are nice and this new lady is over charging

Ate there to day...4 coney's and a large drink which was very small.... The price was 14.00 ...way to high! A steak dinner would have been cheaper... The hot dogs were almost cold, the onions were HOT and the "way to big" buns were not moist... Just threw the last coney away... Will never be back...to greedy with bad attitude in general... Now I know why at lunch time there were very few people there...

Fun menu limited to hot dogs, burgers, polish sausage, hot link and brautworst. The customization is in the toppings. Friendly staff. Downtown hipster atmosphere.

It's happened to everyone at least once: Someone takes a picture right as you sink your teeth into something messy, something with resolve and fight. Something that has a tendency to drip down the chin. Or create a veritable goatee of deliciousness on our

Chili Dog. Their chili dogs are a bit small, but very tasty. I usually get 2, and that is about right for me. Get there early, they get quite busy on weekdays between 11:30-noon.

Great dogs, consistently clueless employees.. The dogs are great, buns are properly steamed, and the ingredient combinations are unlike any other hot dog joint, but where on earth are they getting these people? They never have any idea what they are making. It's like they constantly just started working there. A group of guys from work would go every week and it was the same clueless people every time. It's like they're incapable of learning. If Gnarley can get some people with functioning brains in there, it would be perfect.

I gave them another chance today. The food was decent. I appreciate the variety if toppings they offer and the unique combinations of topping. The chili is decent, comparable to Rons. Staff was still obnoxious but at least they knew their menu this time.

The following was my original review back when it opened: "Employees didn't know how to make any of the menu items.. I ordered the two way chili and I was asked by an employee how to make it. It's just chili over Mac and cheese with Fritos. She gave me each item in separate containers. I was also asked if marinara was the red sauce by an employee. Food was mediocre, but this place was by far the worst service/experience I've ever had."

Love the dawgs! I was excited to see they added burgers to the menu but here is a little advice..... Cook em fresh I was given a burger that was seriously cooked for an hour! Imeditly after ordering he put a fresh patty on the grill..... No one in line! That party was still on the grill when we finished our lunch about 20 minutes..... The burgers only flavor was from its toppings all the flavor was litterly cooked right out! Either fix it or stick to what you know!

Pretty good. I went here when they were junk yard dog because a friend raved about it and it was very disappointing. Just tried it again because of a restaurant.com coupon and it was pretty good.

I guess it depends on what you get. I was concerned when I saw the box of 1/8 pound hot dogs. they are the cheapest hot dogs you can buy from Sams club. The buns are the sara lee buns from sams club. My wife got the chili dog made with those two ingredients and they were fair.

I got two 1/4 pound dogs. I got the Oklahoma slaw dog with no slaw and it was okay. I also got the silly philly dawg and it was really good. My wife got the cole slaw for a side which she was not fond of and we got two cookies(also purchased from sams).

All and all pretty good. I would go back for the silly philly, I just wish I could find a place with better quality ingredients.

Hotdog Fan. We ordered a frito chili pie, mac-n-cheese and a windy city dog. The pie was awesome. Great chili and just the right tang without being weird. The mac-n-cheese was good but i was missing a crusty topping like it deserved. The windy was as advertised. All ingredients tasted good but the bun got soggy really fast. They should really look at using a sturdier bun for the big dogs. I will return. Yummy.

Wow! The guy making our food was very laid back and friendly. I had the Junkyard Dog and loved it! I can't wait to come back again. The food was fresh and tasty. Awesome!

Not Bad at All. Checked out this joint for the first time a couple of weeks ago.
The T-Town Pup is a dead-ringer for the coneys I grew up eating with one notable difference. The chili is actually savory and quite tasty on it's own unlike my beloved downtown hotdogs.
The Chicago style dog was reminiscent of the Windy City's finest as well.
Folks there were friendly and open to feedback.
Joint's not bad at all.

Sauerkraut - no flavo Gnarl.... Sauerkraut - no flavo
Gnarly hash - dry, lacked flavo
Bun - store bought Sara Lee, chewy, thick and not steamed long.
Dog - no flavo
Got to try something new next time - hope to find something worth while, 90% of customers can't be wrong.

Was good at first. The first few times we ate here, it was great. The food was hot and tasty, and the employees were friendly and polite. Then something happened, I guess, because the last few times we were there, the food was mediocre, somewhat cold, and the guy who served us acted like he was doing us a favor. We gave it a couple more chances, but we haven't been back in quite a while.

We LOVE it!. Kid-friendly and the menu is pretty outstanding. No plain 'ole hot dogs here unless that's what you want. Sides are made in-house. I couldn't stop eating the mac & cheese. Not Coney-I-Lander, but they don't claim to be. Great, creative food standing on its own. Locally owned and operated; customer service is impeccable. Daily specials, catering & take-out available.

The Gnarley Dawg is so far beyond a typical "hot dog" joint. They do have what they call the T-Town Pups, which is the mimic of the Tulsa favorite. However, there is no need to try these hot dogs when you can have a sausage. Their Windy City Dawg is the best "hot dog" I have ever had. And there is something for everyone on their menu. They even have a chicken sandwich and a leaner wiener. Also, their potato salad is great!!!
LaToya Rosario
Oh-em-gee! You gotta try this! The junkyard dog is the bombdotcom!
Vernon Husky
Mostly Great Dogs. The Okie Slaw Dog and the Polish Sausage Dogs can't be beat. The T-Town pups are a poor imitation of the Coney I-Lander. If you get a bad dog - don't give up! Go back and try another style.

Every item I've ordered has been delicious so far.

YUM!!!. I love this place! It is right down the road from my husband's workplace, so we sometimes meet here for lunch!! It is delicious!! Super clean and good service!!

Awesome, unique place. There's really nothing I can find wrong with these guys. The service has always been great, I haven't had a dog I haven't absolutely adored, and the interior is just fun. If I get tired of trying new places or just can't decide on a place to go, this is always my default destination.

EDIT 3/28/13: This place, when I first reviewed it, was one of my favorite places to go. Lately, though, the buns have been dry, the hotdogs over-cooked, the hash has a burnt kind of flavor, and things just aren't as good. Still tasty, but quality certainly has gone down.
Carole
My new Fave. Absolutely love this place.... Atmosphere is great... the people who work there are super friendly and the dogs are to die for.....

More than dogs. If you have an aversion to hot dogs, or didn't grow up in Tulsa and chuckle at the almost religious reverence for them here, you should still put Junkyard Dawg on your list of restaurants to visit.

Had the Hooch today, which is a bratwurst with sauerkraut and brown mustard, and it was very good. Choosing it was tough, as most of the menu looked like it would be tasty, but you have to start somewhere. The combo w/ chips and a drink was around $7.25 - however, if you're so inclined, you can get a "pup" (small, loaded hot dog) with your primary choice for about the same money and leave the chips on the rack.

The place fills up pretty quick come noon time. It is definitely one of the cooler interiors of a restaurant around town, and is a lot bigger than you might imagine - finding a table didn't seem to be tough for the endless line of people coming through.

Will be back to try some of the other non-dog items, and who knows, may even break the rule one day and give them a shot. It's definitely more than just a coney-style hot dog place, and you gotta respect that.

Pretty good for a souped up hot dog!

The Brueben. Loved it this Dawg is awesome! True to my roots, German Food! We sometimes get this catered at work. Love there food very delicious! Always a thumbs up!

This was our first trip and it was really good. We had "The T-Town Pup", " The Windy City", "The Junkyard", "The Yardbird" and "The Okie-Dokie" and all were great. I would definitly recommend.

The best hot dogs ever!!!

Definitely worth a visit.. Happened to be in the area yesterday and stopped by here based on the Urbanspoon review. Good selection of meats and condiments, fast moving chow line and good attitudes.

The place is packed for lunch, plan accordingly.

Good Dog.. I've only had the Junkyard Dawg. But, it was awesome. Can't wait to go back and try their other selections.

More than just a hotdog. Got the Groupon for Junkyard Dog a little while back (you should try groupon if you haven't yet, it's a great way to try new restaurants and other things) and went over for lunch today, and I must say, I like what I saw...and ate. Junkyard is just north of brothers hooligan (which is a food junkyard, I must add :-p) in a new "shopping center", pretty easy to find. Walked in during the lunch rush and man, it was crazy in there...however, we hopped in line and it was our turn before we knew it. Junkyard has some daily specials, and being Monday, the special was the slaw dog (1/4lb-all beef, brisket, BBQ sauce and slaw) which I ordered, without the slaw...sorry don't care for the stuff. My guest got the Okie Dokie, basically a chili dog from what I could tell.

The line basically was set up like a subway, where I assume you can customize your own dog, but neither of us did that one. Got to the end of the line and picked up a couple of fresh cookies to top off our meal. We grabbed a seat and I dug into my dog ASAP, I'd been waiting for awhile, and man, this was good stuff! It basically tasted exactly what you'd imagine it would taste like, which was awesome! My only wish I had another, I'd tore through the first one before I'd known it. My guest said that her dog was pretty good also, nothing amazing but a good ole chili dog. With all the options available, it seemed like you could make your dog as excellent as you want it to be.

Overall, Junkyard is a fun place that's great for a small lunch meeting (nothing formal, though) or a snacky dinner. Street food redone seems to be a new trend in town and Junkyard does it well! Lots of options, friendly workers, and good food make this a place you definitely need to make time to get over to! Take a minute to look at the menu and I'm sure you'll be ready to go!

I heart junkyard dog. Love this place! When you hunkering for a great hotdog, it just doesn't get better than this!

Great Dawgs. Heard the advertisment on KMOD and thought I would try them out. I was not disappointed. I wil make this my main hotdawg place. Excellent food and decent prices. The only thing I thought was too expensive was the choclated cake at 1.97 per slice. They need to lower the price on the chocolate cake.
Steven Goodchild
Love this place! Their Windy City Dawg would anything in Chicago to shame. Enjoy!
Greg Anderson
Good Dawg!. This is currently my favorite place to grab a hotdog in tulsa. The coney's are an affordable price and quite delicious. The hotdogs themselves are very tasty, although perhaps a bit more expensive than I would like. The chili is delicious though! All in all, it was a tasty experience.
Stephanie Lewis
The Junkyard. Everyone I have taken to the Junkyard loves it and absolutely believes that they have had the best chili in the Tulsa after eating there. The dawgs are big and filled full of good flavors and the red mustard should make them a mint because its so addictive.
True Foodie
The Gnarley Dawg, is a hot dog specialty restaurant unlike any that I've ever been. It's a cool place with that "garage" like atmosphere that fares well with the hipster crowds. It's the food, however, that links the generations from baby boomers to Gen Z, with the ever popular, all American dish... the hot dog. For the meat portion, they offer, 1/4 lb all beef, 1/2 lb all beef, polish sausage, Bratwurst, or Hot Link sausage. They're set up kind of like a Subway with regard to how you order and tell them what you want on your "dawg" as they move down the line. That beautiful dawg you see below is my version of the ultimate hot dog. It's a hot link sausage with jalapenos, grilled onions, and those bright green pepper-like relish that's sweet but non pickled...thinking it's "sport pepper" Anyway, add to that, ONE of several, delicious, house-made sauces, the "pink sauce" which is may, ketchup, and Sriracha. They

The Colossal Dawg – “Arrowhead Stadium Favorite" beefy dawg slathered in nacho cheese, mustard and sauerkraut. There are plenty of other things I would rather do in KC than go to Arrowhead Stadium, but if this is what they eat there, sign me up and get me a room!
Tasty Tulsa
The Junkyard Dawg has been on Tulsa's Urbanspoon "Talk of the Town" Top 10 for quite some time now. Having never been there Tasty Tulsa felt it was necessary to make the drive to East Tulsa and sink our teeth into a couple dogs, or "dawgs" as The Junkyard Dawg calls them. Sometimes a restaurant can really put themselves on the line by putting all their eggs in one basket or in this case all their dawgs in one yard. The question is do they make the best hot dog in all of Tulsa? The Yard Bird After walking into the junkyard-themed restaurant I looked up at the colorful menu on the wall and eyed a certain dawg with a name derived from an Eric Clapton band, The Yard Bird. As described on the menu the Yard Bird is a chicken sausage dawg w/ chipotle mayo, pico de gallo & shredded pepperjack cheese. This dawg was so flavorable and fresh that I had to eat the whole thing up in mere minutes. Each component was well represented and the chipotle mayo was a superstar. The Windy C

If you keep up with my posts on Tulsa Food Blog you might notice that I have preferences toward a few particular types of food. I think its obvious that I am in love with burgers, more burgers and anything BBQ. The word love may even be an understatement
