My husband and I try to go at least 1 time every 3 months. This began a few years back, when I was looking for a restaurant that served escargot. I was a bit scared because their menu prices were as cheap as Red Lobster, which is not upscale. Our first visit was amazing and so has every expirence since. We do make reservation and have only waited one time do to Valentine's Day. Our service has always been amazing and the servers know how to sell the wonderful specials. Special are a higher price, but we'll worth it. The owner is great, as he is always working and helping his staff. I order a bottle of wine and I don't even pour my own classes. I highly recommend Bernard's, it is hands down the best restaurant in Tyler, Tx.
We celebrated our anniversary there last night. It was Excellent to say the least! We both had appetizers - mine was a hummus dish with veggies and my husband’s was fried oysters. Both were great. My entree was a special — halibut that tasted like the halibut I ate fresh in Alaska a couple years ago. It was awesome!!! My husband had the special filet with bernaise sauce. It was cooked to perfection— he says scrumptious when I asked!
That is your go to place for special occasions for sure, but anytime would be a great time to go!
Chris is a great server- very attentive! We have known the owner Bernard for many years! He is always hands on and many times will even make your drinks for you!

Bernard's is hands down the best restaurant in Tyler! All the food - from the bread to the desserts - is absolutely DELICIOUS. They offer multiple specials besides the already rich menu, the staff is friendly, the servers are attentive, and the owner is a down to earth person. A real pleasure to meet him, if you have the chance.
Awesome meal & server, Chris for my husband’s birthday dinner. Not to mention the impressive birthday dessert flambeau. Thank you Bernard for continuing to impress after all these years. Special occasion? Only one place in Tyler. Enjoyed our 42nd Anniversary there last night. Food and service were both impeccable. Have been enjoying Bernard’s for years and probably will for many years to come.

We had our office Christmas party at Bernards this past weekend. We were seated in the bar at a lovely table. Chris went above and beyond in serving us all and made the evening especially memorable. The food, as always, was beautiful and delicious. All agree it was the best yet! Thank you for making us all feel so special!
Great service and the food was fantastic. I believe the waiter was Riley and he did a great job, treated us like guests should be treated. We will be back.

Dinner and atmosphere was amazing. I even was served veal Marsala instead of veal piccata. Didn't say anything. It was very good.

Found this gem of a restaurant last year & we have never been disappointed! The wait staff are knowledgeable & accommodating. Dustin - our waiter today - is excellent! The food is beyond what words can describe & the chef(s) are culinary artists!

Went here for our business Christmas lunch. Service was good, the server was attenuative to our needs, and the food came out hot. We ordered off the lunch menu, so the portions were lunch size. I had the Salmon Florentine and we all had a bite of each of the desserts available. We tasted the Gluten free chocolate cheesecake, Pina colada cheesecake, Lemon layered cake and Tiramisu. The pina colada cheesecake was everyone's favorite, second was the Tiramisu.
This would be a good place for a romantic dinner or special occasion. The atmosphere is very fancy and the waitstaff very accommodating. The food was very good. I had elk chops which were very tender (not always the case with game) and included a nice sauce. My wife had the trout which was good, but not spectacular--nothing bad, just relatively bland. Others in our party had pasta dishes which were quite good. The prices were on the high end, but worth it for a nice night out.
I'm so glad that my friend recommended this restaurant to me. My dad and I went here for a father-daughter date, and the atmosphere, service, and incredible food was top-notch. We both had one of the daily specials, a salmon dish, and escargot. The flavors were fresh, bright, and unique; you could tell that care was taken in the preparation and selection. This is a hidden gem in Tyler!
We celebrated our 49th anniversary here on July 6, 2021. We started out sharing an appetizer of baked brie which was wrapped in puff pastry, very tasty. This was in addition to the complimentary tapenade and crusty bread. This was followed by a fresh salad, nice and crisp. My wife selected the grilled scallops from the nightly specials and I chose the blackened halibut, both served with mashed potatoes and broccolini. Both dishes were well prepared and delivered at an appropriate temperature. The evening was capped off with Tuxedo Cake to share. Overall, a lovely experience for a special occasion.
I’ve been twice now, and all the food I’ve had from appetizers to dessert has been amazing. Excellent food, excellent service, great ambiance. Highly recommend. Try the off the menu specials!
We ate here for the first time today & had an amazing lunch to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The atmosphere was amazing, service was great, & the food was delicious. I highly recommend the marble cake & a cup of coffee for desert.
Best service and dining experience. The food looked like art forms and tasted divine. The bread came with a minced mix of olives in oil. The cake was a huge slice of seven layer tres leches chocolate cake that was an amazing end to a fantastic celebration of our 30th anniversary. Thank you for making a meal as memorable as this day was for us.
This restaurant is by far the best restaurant I've eaten at. 😋 It's a 5 star restaurant for sure. You don't need a reservation but with how upscale this place is you should. The price I would say is definitely worth it. If you happen to be there on a night they are surviving the beef wellington, you don't want to pass it up. It's a special appetizers but you could easily have it as a main course. My husband ordered it for us to share. However if I would have realized how good it was going to be, I would have just ordered that and called it a night. My mouth is still watering. Plus they have complimentary bread you can dip in a olive garlic herd sauce for what ever reason its really hard to stop eating it. Great place for date night. They also have a large wine selection if you are into that. We will definitely be back
