I honestly believe this was the best pork chop I've ever tasted. It was moist & juicy, just perfect. The potatoes au gratin that were served with it were so good that, had they let me, I would have gone into the kitchen for another helping. Though what I thought was corn & rice casserole turned out to be only loose fried rice mixed with some corn kernels. Still good but not what I was expecting. Although I was totally full, I couldn't pass up the banana pudding, which was just like how Mom made her's except she added meringue on top. My wife had the white chocolate bread pudding which she reluctantly allowed me a sample. She wanted to save it all for herself. Both were very good. No, they were even better than that! Both desserts were excellent!
All in all, I really enjoyed my meal, same as my wife. If cleaning my plate was any indication of how much I enjoyed my visit, then it was obvious I rated Rick's on the Square five stars!
Been to several bars in town, and Rick's and the Black Pearl are undoubtedly the best in Tyler. Justin will prepare drinks for you like you never have experienced, perfect from his explanation of the drinks origin to its taste. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great night out. Pricing is comprobable to other establishments whose service and quality is simply subpar compared to what Justin and the staff at Rick's and the Black Pearl can provide routinely.
If you're looking for the best drink in town, ask for Justin. He has a passion for what he does and truly makes the best handcrafted cocktails I've ever tasted. I would highly recommend!

The folks at Ricks always make us feel welcome and they humor us because we have a lot of humor. It’s our GO TO PLACE before the Liberty Theater Performances. We always enjoy this establishment. Friendly staff, great food, love the menu selections and drink menu. If you find anything wrong with Ricks On The Square......you were going to be unhappy anywhere decided to dine. Thanks for always treating us like family.
I'm a regular at ricks, and I don't know why I have not made a review. But I saved it for the great experience I had this past Saturday! My friend and I are terrible when it comes to ordering drinks, Justin introduced us to the new menu that was made a couple weeks ago.. OMG!!! Not going to lie, we literally went through the entire menu! The guy knows what he's doing! The music was great, drinks were "the bomb . com", nothing but great vibes!! Also met the owner, very nice guy!

We were attending a regional Texas Nursery and Landscaping Association party upstairs at Rick's. The Tyler Christmas parade was going on and we were able to watch it out the windows from above. The appetizer, meal, and desert were great. Their gin and tonic was made with Tanqueray gin and was great. Made some good memories. Thanks Rick's!
Ricks always has the best food! I tried the special, Stuffed Red Fish. Yum! And the hubby had one of their awesome Ribeye's!

Stopped in for dinner during happy hour. Pretty thin in terms of customers. I got concerned. Ordered the grilled redfish with asparagus, potato au gratin, rice, corn, and poblano and banana pudding for dessert. The meal was great. All the dishes were cooked and seasoned very well. And the banana pudding was definitely homemade from scratch. Service was great and knowledgeable about the food. The atmosphere had a very executive, professional feel. A little on the dark side and the food is pricey.
Great and delish lunch specials. I treated my Mom and I found prices to be reasonable compared to many others. We ate outside and had The Best server ever. Pretty blonde but unfortunately I don't remember her name. Great lunch spot. Great chef salad.

There is truly nothing bad on the menu. Their daily lunch specials are amazing. It might seem pricey but the entries are big enough that you can split them. No where else around can you get top notch food and music under one roof.
Customers at Rick's. Rick's on the Square is fabulous. It is such a break from East Texas boring, mundane, and unhealthy cuisine. I'm so glad Rick Eltife has been so diligent to keep such an establishment going for so long...I believe he has been in business for like 20 years.

I need a Rick's "Fix". Been to Rick's a few times now and it is quickly becoming a "sure thing" recommendation for me. The service has been quick, efficient, courteous, and professional. The food is marvelous (have the fried oysters!!) The outside venue for live music is cozy and since it is not a BIG place, the service is almost immediate! Great place, good people...I'll be there again soon.
Only on the patio. I wouldn't go to Rick's unless I sit on the outdoor patio. The indoor dining area is very bland - it feels like you're in this big, empty dance hall that they put tables in. It's not very homey. If you want to dine inside at a great date-night restaurant, do Bernard. Rick's menu is very good, and makes up for the lack-luster indoor seating. The choices are very diverse and the food is well above average. It's a bit pricier than Bernard (sorry, I measure everything against this incredible place), but it does have a great selection.
One of the best Patios in Texas. Wonderful place for live music. Jazz/Blues/Dance bands out on the patio Thurs-Sat nights. They have all kinds of heaters outside for colder nights and a cooling system for those hot summer nights. Excellent food at lunch and dinner. Try the crawfish stuffed filet for dinner - WOW

Tyler's Finest Eatery. I must say that Rick's was great when my wife and I had a company dinner for Christmas. The food was great, the service was acceptable and since I wasn't paying the price was perfect!... grin... It really was nice and I look forward to going again soon. Thanks Rick!
Classy, great food. Looks like it was displaced from downtown dallas. excellent food and what looked to be a great bar scene at night. tyler doesnt have many options, but this was the best place i ate at when i was there. definitely eat here if you ever get stuck in town.
Good food, Less than stellar service. I went here for an early lunch, and got a half pastrami on rye with beef and vegetable soup ( recommended by my server ), both were delicious, and the home made chips were pretty good. The soup didn't have any actual beef in it, but the flavor was rather tasty, so no complaint there.
The service was the weak point, sometimes seeing 5-10 minutes between visits, while walking around me and talking to others. Would come back for the food, but hope for a different server.
Worth it. Very good a bit expensive but worth every penny!!!!!!!!!
Rick's on the Square
Rick's is one of the 'fancy' restuarants in Tyler and is located on the Square in downtown Tyler, just west of Broadway. My wife and I stopped in for my birthday. The outside is a beautiful older downtown building and you are greeted by a friendly hostess...
The atmosphere is so fun every time I visit!! The Blue Bonnet cocktail is a must try and the pulled pork sandwich is a staple. You won’t be disappointed!
Incredible kitchen, nice prices, intimate setting. This a must dinner spot if you’re visiting Tyler
Aubriana took excellent care of us. Home cooked meals are to die for! Chilean Sea bass, turnip greens, Mac & cheese! You can’t go wrong
Wildly exceeded my expectations. Fantastic, amazing southern comfort food at a decent price. Top-tier approachable and engaged staff. And the atmosphere—especially out on the patio—is great. A+
Great atmosphere. Had a quite dinner around 7:30. Then the band started around 9:00. Great music from Mo Jiles. Clayton, our server went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Overall a very enjoyable evening .
The girlfriend and I have to travel to Texas from NC 4 times a year to visit a local Hospital. Every time we find ourselves in Tyler, we always eat here at Ricks on the Square. The food, staff and prices are beyond great. Not to mention, they have a fairly good selection of Bourbon. The atmosphere and décor is also very appealing. For anyone reading this, bring quarters for the parking meters out front. You guys are awesome, don't change a thing!
