Amazing Latin food. Should be open to trying different cuisines. Everything I had, cocktails, ceviche, salsa, axis tacos, and po' boy tacos(boyfriend), were ALL amazing and great service!! Able to now take this place off my bucket list of restaurants in St. Louis!! Definitely going back!
Great Experience. We had a birthday party at Flaco's. The food was fresh, excellent and well proportioned. The service was above and beyond all expectations. The owner/manager made sure all details were met. We had a great time. I would encourage anyone planning an event or just dinner to try Flaco's.
The food was fresh, crisp, colorful, and clean. Veggies and seafood, deliciously prepared. Easy menu for people with gluten intolerance; there were more healthy options than heavy/fatty/fried foods that usually fill menus in America. Way to go Flaco, I'm a fan for sure.
Great Experience. I read some of the reviews and they all seem to really love or really hate Flaco's. I read some of the reviews, but trust the judgement of my good friend Liz who has a discerning palate and LOVES this place. We met for drinks and dinner last night and it was fantastic!
Scott, the bartender was attentive and friendly and served up two fantastic top shelf marg's. The chips were flavorful, and had a texture unique to most standard chips. The salsa was fresh and extremely good!
For dinner Liz had the Drunken Steak Quesadilla (waiters recommendation) and it was amazing! I had the three taco sampler with rice and beans and was quite satisfied!
The atmosphere was warm and cozy and although we dined upstairs, we had to check out the downstairs which is awesome. Twinkly lights, disco ball and nice area to dance. Very cozy as well!
I will definitely go back! Soon!
I go for the drinks!. Peach jalapeno margarita is my favorite... I usually just get some guacamole on the side and hope they are having a good day. Sometimes it just seems off.

Flacos is the place we all aspire to go when we die. The scallops and grits is my favorite but the Tappas are plentiful and the above mentioned drink is the 8th wonder of the world.
First time luncher. Homemade chips served with 4 types of salsa. Best paella in St. Louis, seared ahi tuna was perfection. Tasty margarita. I'll be back.

Great!. My husband and I have been to Flaco's Cocina several times. We usually order the same things because they are so good~ queso chorizo, both fish and chicken tacos, and the ceviche. All of these dishes are so flavorful! I am most impressed, however, with the chicken tacos. The first time I ordered one, I was expecting a typical taco (meat, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream). The taco at Flacos was so much more flavorful (and much healthier!).
I also strongly recommend the Orange margarita! We just moved here from Austin, TX last year and have been hard pressed to find a good rita. I would have to say that the flavored ritas at Flacos are the very best in town!
When we first started going, the service was not great; however, the last few times we've been, it's much much better! It's clear that they have made some important changes to better attend to their customers.
Overall, really love this place! Great attention to detail in food and drinks, wonderful laid back atmosphere, and great staff! We will continue to be frequent fliers at Flacos for sure!
Innovative and local minded, this U-City restauranteur has delighted my pallet. I have enjoyed there langua/tounge tacos for years but when I challenged the owner-chef to use missouri raised bison in the place of beef, he rose to the challenge with a spicy corn bison tounge soup that is worth a gold star or two all on it's own. If you're open minded to new things ask the chef what he suggests, you may be suprised.

FANTASTIC 1st EXPERIENCE. I came back to my home town for an extended visit and a friend took me over to Flaco's Cocina last night. The vibe was very cool, something I had not seen in St. Louis before. Walking in, we were greeted with smiles & professionalism. One glance at the menu, and I knew this place was different. Scottie came over to offer us a beverage and tell us all about the restaurant, its history, who the owner is and what his experience was. The impressive part of this was that Scottie had been there only 4 months, and one could easily tell he appreciated being there. We ordered a margarita and looked over the menu, which offered many unique selections - so it was hard to decide upon what to order, as everything looked great. It wasn't very busy, which I could not understand. Once the various salsa's (which are offered for take home, which we gladly bought a couple of jars) were brought out, I KNEW this was going to be a great meal! I ordered the Paella and my friend ordered the Lobster Empanadas. I've found a new STANDARD for Paella that I will be comparing to all others from now on. This dish was FANTASTIC! Immediately, I could tell this was REAL saffron being used, not just a pinch along with tumeric & yellow rice....but real saffron...what a joy! I tried the Lobster Empanadas and it will be very hard to say no to those next time (and there WILL be MANY next times). We finished off with the Chocolate Empanadas and all I can say is outta sight. I travel a lot so I eat out often. It is VERY CLEAR that the owner of this establishment TRULY CARES about the product he is putting out to the consumer. The food is quality, served hot in a beautiful presentation. We will be back often, we will bring friends, we will tell others, and I have a new favorite restaurant. Thank you Maz, Scottie and staff.....we wish you many years of great success, and I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT - it's called FLACO's COCINA!
My husband and I love flocco's! We've eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. The fish tacos, paella, lobster qeusadilla, and giant burritos are consistently amazing. They have some fun cocktails too (the dark and stormy is my favorite). On a busy Friday night the service isn't always perfect, but any other day/time we've been was great. Nice laid back atmosphere too.
The food and service was awesome. Very fresh and authentic. The guacamole was perfect. The variety of tacos were great. Our table ordered a true variety of the tacos and we were all very pleased. The unique appetizers, especially the escargot and lobster fritters and worth going in for again. The tequila choices, there is something for all and many many more to explore! We will indeed continue to return to this hidden Mexican restaurant in St Louis .

Flaco's Cocina is AMAZING!!!. I always enjoy dining at Flaco's Cocina! The food is exquisite and the service is outstanding! The atmosphere is pleasant, and I enjoy the patio seating during the summer months. I Highly recommend Flaco's Cocina; you will be very pleased in all aspects of your dining experience.

P.S. Closest was Don Diego's but it is quite a distance to Indian Wells, Ca.
ORGAZMIC!. BEST guac and GREAT Paella. The prices are crazy low for the amount of food and quality of the product. Giant pints of margarits for happy happy happy hour are addictive. We LIKE IT MOOOCHO!

Good eatin'. Little hole in the wall with interesting atmosphere inside. Big screen TV with somewhat phsycodelic interior. Service was quick and very friendly. We got the taco sampler and tried 4 different tacos: tilapia, mahi mahi, tuna, and carnitas. Also got the cuban sandwich. Very good! Large portions and waffle fries with sandwich! Yum! Prices are real reasonable. Definitely enjoyed, and definitely recommend.
I was very pleasantly surpised! The restaurant we were planning to go to was closed and I was not interested in "Mexican". While Flaco's has the standard Mexican fair, they also had a very compelling "Latin" type menu with excellent flavors and variety. I will be recommending it to friends and out of town guests. It will also be a place I will look forward to going to myself.

SOOO GOOOOD. I work in the same building Flaco's Cocina is located in. I eat there for lunch about once a week. They have great daily lunch specials, a wonderful happy hour and the best damn fish tacos you have had ever. The seared ahi tuna taco, cooked rare, is simply one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. The food is great all around and it is always service with a smile.

"Flacos" an inquisitive and delectable experience. My take upon visiting this fine institution has been quite pleasurable. The waitresses were quite accomidating. The owner, Maz had an offering af specialty drinks for my date and I. We had an amazing experience. The crab dip was delightful and the very knowledgable staff reccomended this. And upon its arrival we found why this restuarant is described as only fresh ingredients. We will hopefully be visiting Flacos Cocina again, if we have a second date. But Im quite confident Flacos will have no problems thriving throughout and placing its stamp on the unique St. Louis restaurant market. It has truely set the pace for up and coming hotspots.
The service one receives is normally an independent experience and doesn't usually reflect the quality of the restaurant as a whole. It never effects my reviews negatively or positively.
I had the Axis of Evil tacos and they were very good. I didn't care for the rice and beans. My company had fajitas and they were both delicious and also a very large serving. The salsa was good but very mild.

Given all of the poor reviews I was hesitant to eat here but it turned out to be a great experience.
My girlfriend had the steak quesadilla and I had the Cuban pulled pork sandwich. Both were excellent, and the calamari was a great appetizer, not over breaded with a good dipping sauce.
The nacho chips & dip are complimentary. I can understand the confusion, because there is an appetizer listing for nachos & dip, but apparently that provides a few more dipping sauces.
The service was decent, if anything, there were too many servers. There were two girls and two guys walking around asking if we needed anything and bringing drinks. I wasn't sure who our server was and who was just helping. The problem is that it's a pretty small place, I counted only 11 tables (there is a full, long bar with stools, and a large outdoor patio with what looked like more tables than indoor, but it was too cold to eat outside), and with all four people walking around they seemed to get in each others way.
I would recommend trying this place out. I don't know what it was like in the past, but as of 10/23/16, it's pretty great - just small & crowded. I'm looking forward to returning.
Never been before today, and I'm really enjoying my experience. The staff is friendly, the venue is clean and the food is flavorful. I ordered the lobster quesadilla which came out in a timely manner and was the BOMB! I also enjoyed a delicious Margherita. Definitely plan to be back soon with a few friends!
Absolutely my favorite spot in St. Louis! I crave their fresh salsa and tacos weekly! The staff is attentive and professional. The Korean Beef Tacos are a must try. The margaritas rock! The vibe is very tropical. reminds me of a place in Key West or The Caribbean. Two thumbs up....it's easy to become a regular. The owner is the best. (Maz)............He always says hello and is hands on giving impeccable service and fabulous food.
We went before the menu was shortened and loved it! 10/10! We visited today though and the service was friendly but both of our dishes were not cooked through- the rice was crunchy in the burrito. But they made us another and it was very good after.
