Delicious date night dinner spot in Utica. A Farm-to-Table hidden gem. Food is sourced from local farms and homemade. Love that even the name of the restaurant pays homage to the space before it - a Tailoring company established in 1910. One of the best meals I’ve had and the best homemade cheesecake ever! Great service and an intimate, cool space. Highly recommend.

I went with my husband for Valentine's Day. They had a prix fixe menu for the evening. We were seated right on time for our reservation. They had an extensive wine list and homemade infused alcohol. The food was excellent and the service was on point. Our server was attentive to our needs and made sure we had what we needed. Each of the courses that we had was delicious and a large enough portion that was satisfying. They use local ingredients and the bread was from Utica Bread. The dessert was terrific, the cheesecake was creamy and I liked it paired with the pineapples. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner and eating experience. I am excited to go back and try some other foods.

Always come here for special occasions and they never disappoint. Prices are high for portion size but food is always awesome and Trevor is a great waiter. Can't wait to bring my brother here this summer. Looking forward to hearing about their Wednesday Wine and Dine.

We drove 2 hours to visit this restaurant, and it was totally worth the drive! The food can only be topped by the friendliness of the staff, they are great! If I had to make any complaint (and by no means were any of our group unhappy) I would say the portion of hanger steak is a little small for the price. However we expected smaller portions at a high end restaurant. That being said, if you are on the fence about visiting here, don't be. Just go and enjoy it. We will be making the trip again!

My friends and I went for a birthday dinner, we were greeted and treated like family. Love the service and the food was wonderful. We all had sea food and loved the extra touches like the maple butter with sea salt. We had plenty to eat and still had room for desert... Especially liked the candle in a wooden disk in the ice cream. Definitely coming back and bringing more friends and family

Without any doubt our best dining experience this year. Wow. We're from out of town, hadn't made reservations but they accommodated us at the bar - which was beautiful! The food was an unbelievable work of art and flavor..... the kitchen obviously loves what they produce. The 3 bartenders were welcoming, creative (they will create a alcohol-free cocktail-just ask them, they'll think for a moment and a complicated creation appears!), super attentive without being overbearing, explain where components of your meal came from (farm, location) and SO entertaining! We would be comfortable driving the two hours just to have another meal from here again in a heartbeat. #awesomeservice #restaurantjoy

Amazing food with great atmosphere. Food is all local and fresh and you can taste it. Chefs put together some unique and interesting combinations of flavors but each hit the nail on the head. We started with scallops for an appetizer. They were seared perfectly. For the main course the wife had the Brazilian Moqueca. I'd like to tell you how it tastes but she defended it like a lioness protecting food for her cubs. I had the Filet which was probably in the top 5 filets I've ever had. Cooked exactly to order (medium rare) and seasoned to perfection. They brought out salt and pepper, but I have no idea why, because this thing was a masterpiece and adding anything additional would have been an insult to the cook. We polished off dinner with Blueberry, lavender housemade Sorbet (that we would have taken home by the 5 gallon bucket if we lived anywhere around here) and drip Brazil Cerrado from Utica Coffee next door. The decor was a nice industrial mix with original brick walls, complete with left in square nails and reclaimed wood trim throughout. Dark lighting set the mood for a balance between formal and causal. Service was spot on. Waiter new his stuff, actually the whole waitstaff did, and they figured out the balance between letting food settle between courses but never letting the glass get below half full.

Highly recommended! Excellent food, drinks, service, ambiance and a very knowledgeable staff. I have specific dietary restrictions and I had been corresponding with the chef prior to our visit. He was right on top of things. Best meal that I have had in a long time. We will definately be back again and I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know. Thank you Tailor and the Cook for a memorable experience. Shannon

My impression of The Tailor and the Cook is as follows: The ambience is warm and inviting- you are met by friendly professional and knowledgable staff upon entry. once seated, you are met by your server who will present to you a menu and a quick review of any features. For my particular visit, I decided to partake of the Chef's tasting menu, along with the wine pairing. This was my first time trying venison ( a feature on the tasting menu) so naturally I had some questions as to the level of gaminess. My questions were addressed by the staff, and not only is there one more fan of venison in the world, but due to the top notch service, wonderful atmosphere and of course incredible cuisine, there's now another fan of The Tailor and the Cook!

My partner and I tried The Tailor and The Cook for the first time, and we were blown away by our experience. The restaurant is fairly small to begin with, and COVID regulations have clearly forced them into very limited seating capacity. As a result, there wasn't any available seating when we showed up for our reservation, and we had to wait about 25 minutes. Well, the staff was wayyyy more than generous in making up for that wait. We were CATERED to throughout our whole dining experience. They provide us each with a glass of bubbly when we sat down and they sent samples of food throughout the night. Our waitress gave us the perfect wine recommendation, was so friendly, and very attentive. At one point our table was a bit wobbly, so she flipped the table on its side and fixed the legs until they were perfectly even. On top of the excellent service, the food was incredible. I think this was the best experience at a restaurant that I've ever had. Please go give them a try!

The Tailor & the Cook is an excellent restraunt, fine dining with innovation. For the time being you can also take advantage of the social distancing for an much more private dining experience than in the past. They are doing a seasonal small plates menu. For autumn there are a lot of root vegetables & earthy flavors. I can't say that I am a fan of this current array My husband however LOVED the Swordfish & my Dad very much enjoyed the Rib Eye. The scallops were fresh & perfectly cooked - I just would have preferred green vegetables to beets & squash. The lamb - is wonderful but the accompaniment of figs didn't work for me. I am looking forward to a winter menu with some different selections. Please follow me

Amazing restaurant with all locally sourced ingredients. The scallops, Thai fried chicken, beet risotto, and venison were all fantastic. For dessert the affogato and creme brulee were nothing short of amazing. Our sever Blair was also great. Highly recommend to anyone that is looking to have great food and try new flavors.
