We pass through Valdosta, GA frequently on our way to and from Florida. On this trip we sought out a local restaurant to try. Based on customer reviews we chose 306 North. We were greeted by Pat, the most gracious hostess, and served by Malinda, whose enthusiasm for every dish was contagious! I stepped completely out of my wheelhouse. My husband and I had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. Who knew how yummy pimento cheese could be? Then I had chicken piccata with smoked gouda grits and the roasted tomato casserole with pimento cheese. Fabulous! My husband had the grouper and their take on succotash. I tried it all and everything was unusual and well done. Their portions aren't huge but they are sufficient and their prices are reasonable. It was also a treat to sit in their sun room area off the bar and listen to some nice live music. An altogether pleasant evening.

We have eaten here many times and never disappoints! Service and cuisine is very special. Not your average farmhouse restaurant for sure. Special occasions for us when we go.

Out of all the nicer restaurants downtown, 306 is definitely the most consistent. Their menus change seasonally and the specials are always good. If you go later in the evening service will not be so busy. A great pick!

Delicious food. This restaurant was a total 10. I had the Crab soup and it was probably the best I've ever tried, I normally think a salad is not something to brag about but this salad was outstanding. It had 3 large tomato's laid on top of mixed greens and I had the balsamic dressing. For my entree I had the buttermilk shrimp, they were really good. I give this place an A+ on the food and the service. If you are in Valdosta you must try this place!!

One of the best places in Valdosta. 306 is one of the finest restaurants in town. I have been to this place a number of times, always business related. I have been there for lunch and dinner. The service is always excellent, the food even better and the prices reasonable. The bar is one of the best stocked in town and best of all, 306 is one of only a very few places open on Monday. This is something you need to remember if you need to do a business meal on Monday. I recommend the caprese salad. All of the entrees are fabulous depending upon your taste. Mark Renfro - the general manager has been there every time I have frequented the place and he sees to it that things run flawlessley. You will not regret a visit to 306 for the best upscale dining in the territory.

Very pleasing experience.. We stopped in on our way through town with 4 adults and 2 toddlers who were tired and hungry. I randomly chose this place based on GPS telling us what was close and not a chain restaurant because we love to try new things while on vacation. As we were walking in, I casually asked a passing woman if the food was good there and she replied that it was, but that she supposed she had to say that since she was the owner. She was very kind and had a couple cheese and fruit plates sent to our table after we were seated. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed and greeted warmly. We sat on the patio and had outstandingly friendly and professional service, and the food was no disappointment. From the whole fried okra, fried green tomatoes, gouda grits, she crab soup, and pork chops all the way to my picky eaters' plate of spaghetti, every single one of us truly enjoyed our meal. This is a gem in Valdosta and will definitely keep it on our list of local eats when we pass through again.

Big City Quality in a Charming Small Town. 306 North would be a very good restaurant in Atlanta. It was a very pleasant find in Valdosta. The food quality and service were quite high. The prices were reasonable. I don’t want to sound like a big-city snob, but I certainly didn’t expect this kind of place in South Georgia. The salmon and pork chop entrees were both delicious. I would definitely return.

Great Food. Really nice experience. Appetizers were the right size to share, salads with the warm dressing were tasty, the entrees were filling and delicious (grouper, filet and shrimp & grits), and the desert was a great finale. Service was professional, and setting was a nice mix of casual and upscale. Will eat there again!

My husband and I are from Philadelphia, we recently celebrated our first anniversary at 306, on a Monday! No good local restaurants are open on Mondays down here so it was definitely a relief!! The blue cheese martini is to die for!! I would go back just for that alone. The food was very good. This is a good find in a small city :)

My husband and I tried 306 North for the first time last night. I drive by every week, as our daughter attends school nearby, and I wondered if it was good. We were out for, "date night", and were kind of crunched for time, as we wanted to see a movie, too, during our scheduled child care, and we let the server know this prior to ordering. We were seated right away, the only patrons not sitting at the bar. Our drink orders were taken right away, and served. My husband ordered the Cordon Bleu with mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, and Caesar salad. I ordered the grilled shrimp with garlic mashed, asparagus, and green salad. We both enjoyed our meals, and left nothing on our plates. My husband stated his chicken was a little overcooked, but was good. It was prepared a little differently, with the ham and swiss on top, as opposed to stuffed in the chicken breast. He liked his sides and salad a lot. My shrimp was perfect, and I enjoyed the chili tartar sauce served with them. The garlic mashed were good, perfectly seasoned, and the asparagus were cooked well, not woody, though a bit boring, as they had no seasoning or sauce. I ended up dipping them in the chili tartar sauce served with the shrimp. My salad was good, but the best was the warm bacon vinaigrette I chose for the dressing. I wanted to do a shot of it by itself! Yum! It would have been good to dip the asparagus in as well. Dinner was good, served quickly (we made the movie), and service was good. I would recommend 306 North. A side note: we went during the early bird menu, and were also given the regular menu. The regular menu seemed steep. I would recommend going early. The prices are more reasonable at that time, and this is coming from someone that doesn't mind paying extra for a fab meal.

Best Salmon!. We are new to Valdosta, and have eaten here twice. The atmosphere is formally quaint and comfortable. I love fish, and the salmon is the best I have ever had! My husband loves the beef dishes. The bar makes great drinks, and their rolls are so tasty! Our server, named John was very courteous and attentive. Thanks for another great night out! Keep up the great work!

Chef Lee Haney is talented!. Visited 306 North with 2 chefs and Chef Haney put together an 8 course tasting menu for us. WE WERE IMPRESSED. The variety of courses and the wine pairing and service (Rebecca) were perfect. Started with a cheese course, vicychoise with duck confit, foie gras with pink peppercorn biscuit, BLT-seared scallop, fried green tomatoes, bacon vinaigrette; crab stuffed flounder on corn salsa, grilled lobster tail on vidalia onion slaw, lamb lollipops on rice pilaf and carmelized angel food cake with blueberry gran marnier sauce and chocolate pot de creme. Finished with a chocolate shake with Baileys and Jameson. Our salute to the CHEF-- we are still full.

Consistantly Good. I always look forward to eating at 306. The steaks are some of the best in Valdosta. It has a nice urban (although I hate that word) feel. Locals keep it relaxed and much like a neighborhood place. Everyone seems to know each other! be sure to try the fried pickles!

Perfect! Went last night with a group of 10. We had amazing service, amazing drinks, and the food was the best I've had on this level in a while. The goat cheese tart, braised Pork belly, salmon (should be called slammin) ,tuna... All delicious!! Seasoned perfectly, however the sweet potatoes on the tuna could be crisper. Keep up the good work

Love the Early Bird menu. I've been to 306 North twice, both times early enough to take advantage of the Early Bird Special (before 7pm). I've seen both menus, and personally, I like the choices on the Early Bird menu better (small portions, smaller prices). In a time of gargantuan-sized entrees it's a breath of fresh air to actually be able to eat all that is on your plate and not feel like you're carrying around an extra 10 lbs afterwards. The atmosphere at 306 is very nice. They have a covered patio area surrounded by greenery which is a nice place to enjoy our springtime weather and sometimes live music. There is also a little inside patio area in between the outside patio and the bar that has 2 tables that lets you get the best of both worlds. It's surrounded in glass so you FEEL like you're outside, but you get the warmth (and lack of pollen and breezes) of the inside. The main dining area is smallish but open with the exception of a "round" room that is partially partitioned off towards the back of the restaurant. Both times I've eaten there, it has been reserved for special parties (both birthdays).
As mentioned, the early bird menu is great. My husband gets the country fried porkchops and I get the 4 oz filet mignon. Perfect sizes. The pork chops are delicious... the breading they use is so flavorful and different. I was disappointed with the salad though... it was a decent enough salad with mixed greens and cucumbers, but the first bite I took, it was very apparent they did not wash the greens... tasted like dirt and actually had grit in my mouth from it. A little off-putting. My husband didn't have any problems with his so maybe it was just a rogue peice of lettuce that shirked the water bath. The multi-grain bread rolls were wonderful.. reminded me of an everything bagel in the form of a roll.

One of the things they are known for is their extensive wine list. You will find some classic stand-by's but also something a little different. I always like to try something a little different. I believe they are still doing Tuesday night wine-tastings at a certain time of the month (maybe second Tuesdays, or something like that - their website says when). Anyway, when I was there the last time (2 weeks ago), I tried a different white but was so disappointed because it was apparently the last glass in the bottle... full of sediment and it had already "turned" and was on its way to vinegar. I mentioned something to the waiter and he didn't seem to care too much but it was just a few minutes and the owner, Sue Cox, was at our table to make it right (so I guess he cared enough to let her know or she just happened to overhear my comment). She sent the maitre'd over with the wine list for me to choose another glass, which I did and was MUCH more pleased with my new selection. So, all of that was not said to "knock" the restaurant but as a compliment to their passion to make sure each guest is having an enjoyable experience.
My husband and I will definitely be back... but more than likely it'll be before 7pm!

Me, too! What a welcome change from highway food! And at very reasonable prices in a refined atmosphere with white tablecloths even for lunch. My grilled salmon was done to perfection and the arugula salad was the perfect accompaniment.

Don’t wait for a special occasion to give 306 North a whirl. Treat that special someone to a memorable southern sophisticated meal this weekend and embraced South Georgia culture. You can experience a fine dining local favorite without the big price tag by hitting the lunch or early bird specials. 306 North was voted 2012 Best of South Georgia Fine Dining for a reason so make sure you give it a try!

On my way back from a deposition in Hazlehurst I stopped for a late lunch in Valdosta, Georgia.  My first plan was to stop in for a burger at a hipster inspired pool hall.  That plan came to a crashing halt as I circled the city’s one way streets in vain looking for the restaurant.  With the memory of an early morning banana evaporating, and my stomach on the verge of full blown revolt I spotted a sign for 306 North Restaurant.  I pulled into the side parking lot and made my way towards the front door. A blast of chilled air burst into my suit coat and I was grateful for the warm interior that greeted me on the other side of the glass door.  The restaurant was empty except for a pair of gentleman sipping an early afternoon drink in the back.  I sat at the bar and rubbed my cold hands together.  The bartender slid a menu towards me and brought me a glass of water.  306 North offers Southern inspired food in a casual setting.  Soups, salads, sandwiches, and various entrees were available

Dinner service for four guests early on a Saturday evening was timely and courteous. I highly recommend you make a reservation ahead of time. The atmosphere is a little noisy but elegant, clean and classy. You'll blend right into the crowd wearing anything from a polo and khakis to a three piece suit. Menu is simple, but extensive enough to provide options for even the most picky of palate. Dessert was outstanding. Pricing was reasonable as well. You won't find a better dining experience at this price point anywhere in the state. I would recommend 306 North to anyone regardless of the situation.

This was the best experience during my whole road trip as far as food goes! They treated me and my 11 year old Basset Hound like Queens! The southern hospitality here was exactly what I needed and was looking for. The food was delicious and the people were so nice. It was well worth the 10 or 15 minutes off of the highway to go here.

Stopped here for lunch today and so glad we did. The fried green tomato with pimento cheese cheese and bacon was calling to both of us, got it with a side salad. They make most of their own dressings. Everything was delicious and service was very good, thank you A.

Attentive staff, great atmosphere and excellent food. My husband and I came last night while in town and we wanted to try absolutely everything on the menu. We ended up getting the Southern Sampler to start and then I got the salmon with honey truffle grilled sweet potatoes and balsamic mushrooms. Everything was delicious!! The waitress took good care of my gluten free needs and kept things separate on the Southern Sampler so no cross contamination occurred. No issues and great service!!

Nice place. Cozy; not too stuffy. Entrees are varied and well prepared. Waiters are attentive and busy. Not a fan of the crinkly, paper tabletop covers. Very distracting and diminishes the otherwise quaint setting. But overall, job well done. They have my business.

Down from Atlanta for work and was looking for something decent to eat. This place exceeded my expectations. I would put it right there with some of the popular places in Atlanta, but at half the cost. I got the duck with mushrooms and asparagus, which were all excellent. Pot of Chocolate for dessert; also excellent. Coworker said his salmon was also very good. Dont know when Ill be back this way, but Id definitely eat here again when I am.
