My wife and I were greeted upon entering the restaurant. We got seated right away and given menus and waitress took our drink orders. She was the only waitress working tonight but she did an excellent job serving everyone in a fast timely manner. We did not wait long for our food to come out. The presentation was nice and the food tasted great.
Went here for a date night with the hubby. He and I have both worked in sushi restaurants before and are avid sushi eaters. Kyushu is a very unassuming place, casual and clean, and their sushi is PHENOMENAL. The fish quality is something you'd expect from a restaurant that would charge you three times as much. I ate a piece of yellowtail and forgot what we were talking about. I tasted that sushi with my whole body. I think I forgot to breathe.
The service was stellar. The plum wine was great. The gyozu were delicious. Even the ginger was particularly tasty. We weren't trying to eat cheap but our bill was still under $100.
Kyushu is definitely our new #1 sushi place!
An authentic Japanese place that serves a variety of Japanese food. The menu included Japanese style curry and katsu that reminds you of home cooking.
The takoyaki was very good. Crispy on the outside and soft creamy inside with great sauce on top.
The sushi was fresh and delicious.
The staff was friendly.
It's some of the freshest 🍣 in town. So delicious. The salmon rolls are simple yet so flavorful. Also had a pork Katsudon, very tasty.
This place is EXCEPTIONAL. 10/10. This is my first time coming here, and everything was above and beyond! The hospitality, the freshness of the food and the speediness. Usually when I go to a Japanese restaurant, I order Gyoza dumplings and two sets of rolls. Today I got my go-to the Spicy California Roll and I tried the Boston roll. Everything tasted FRESH along with the spicy mayo as a condiment on the side for an extra dollar. I actually ordered another round of Gyoza dumplings because that’s how good they were, lol. This place is VERY affordable and also very comfortable to sit and dine in at. Will definitely be coming here again.
genuinely this place was an awesome surprise. service was quick and friendly, food was fantastic (I got the miso soup and the katsu curry), and the atmosphere had a small diner kind of vibe it rules.
Pretty decent... it doesnt compare to its former glory days, but still... ok. Customer service is greatt.
Miso soup was great, but
The fish lawd the fish.
That fish is not really worthy looking for in a sushi shop.
Maybe if the fish quality has stayed the same and if the fish was fresh like how ebi used to prepare it. Overall good just ISNT AS GOOD AS IT USED TO BE.
Pls if the owner sees this pleasetry to improve on what the issues are! :P
Great little sushi restaurant. I have been coming here since the 80’s. It was also my mother’s favorite sushi shop.
I ordered the Deluxe Sushi and Sashimi platter which comes with a bowl of miso soup. Also ordered a 22oz can of Sapporo and a 22oz bottle of Kirin beer. Everything was outstanding. The waitress and service was excellent.
Eating here reminds me of being back in Japan. Delicious food, awesome service, and just a calming place. Everytime I get homesick for Japan, I come here to be comforted with the food. Highly recommend.
Always welcoming and fantastic quality. I think they have the best rice in town. Very important for the sushi lovers out there. The sushi lunch is always solid comes with a starter of miso soup. Perfect portion and a solid price. Great wasabi as well.
Super friendly staff and delicious food! Authentic Japanese flavors and preparations!
Good price, good portion, and great food! They have socially distanced dine-in option here as well. The salmon roll was good, the wasabi was better than many other sushi places I've been to. The spicy ramen was great too, broth and all the ingredients took my taste buds on a delicious adventure. Will come back again
The first place that I ever had sushi and still my favorite sushi place for lunch. Fish quality is great and their sushi rice is always stellar.
The sushi selection is good and the atmosphere is very cozy. I like how they prepare their miso soup. Its much creamier than other places
Real Japanese owners so you know the food is going to be good. And of course, delicious!
The people here are really amazing and kind. Love this place!
It's pretty hard to find somewhere to match the authentic Japanese food taste anywhere and I finally found a place here in Hampton Roads where I can enjoy Japanese food again. The workers are mostly Japanese. The yakisoba reminds me of the street yakisobas being sold while walking around the streets of Japan. The salmon sashimi was quite fresh. The katsu curry was decent. My wife ordered sushi and miso ramen. While the noodles weren't the usual thin noodles you get, the broth is where it's at. Very flavorful broth! The green tea also reminds me of what we usually get at the restaurants in Japan. This is my new go-to place and I am upset that I haven't tried this sooner.
Kyushu Japanese was amazing! We were very happy to have found authentic Japanese food in Virginia Beach. I order pork katsu and my wife ordered tempura udon. The coating around the fried pork was crunchy and the pork inside was juicy!
Definitely would recommend to someone looking for authentic Japanese food!
The sushi is always great. Been eating there for over 30 years and even after Ebi-san sold the restaurant it is still consistently good.
