Delicious food and very small ma and pop feel. House made sauces too. We ate inside since it wasn't busy but the flies were fierce today. Very nice smoke ring present on the Mears. Definitely recommend them getting a fly trap so you can eat more in peace. They do offer picnic tables outside also.
Very small venue. Great and friendly service. Ordered the BBQ platter and shared it with the wife. The spicy slaw has some kick to it. Ribs were more on the caramelized side and not falling off the bone. The pulled chicken was kinda dry. I ate more of the pulled pork initially. Everything else was tasty. As a native Texan, this gets a stamp of approval!
While vacationing, we visited based on a YouTube blogger’s recommendation. Otherwise, we probably wouldn’t have ever stopped. This place is a literal hidden “hole in the wall.”
I’ll start with the good and say the food was some of the best bbq we’ve had. Large portions, good sides (I don’t understand the negative reviews of the sides), baked beans were full of flavor, potato salad was good, though I like a little more “stuff” in mine, and my son said the green beans were well seasoned. Really liked the smoked chicken salad, which is something you don’t see every day.
We felt like the guys working were annoyed by us or just weren’t overly friendly and welcoming. I mean, they weren’t unfriendly or rude either…Maybe we stood out as newbies and not knowing what we wanted annoyed them. I don’t know. That was just our impression. They seemed to know the regulars coming in and were friendly with them.
Oh, and the sweet sauce in the big bottle on the tables was EXCELLENT. Never had a sauce quite like it, but it really added a nice zing to the meats.
The prices are very reasonable for bbq, the quality, and the portions.
Overall, other than the service issue, a great little “hole in the wall.”
3rd or 4th time here, but I brought my son to try for the first time, and it was a huge hit! So good, come here, and no matter what you get, YOU WILL LEAVE SATISFIED! We both got the Earthquake combo and a dozen wings 😋😋😋🤤🥴
Amazing is all I can say! I’m not a big BBQ person, but this has changed my views! Food was excellent, service was great and atmosphere is your typical BBQ place. We got the smoked chicken, smoked brisket and smoked chicken salad. You can’t go wrong with anything! Highly recommend!
Heard this was a hidden gem and people were right. My meal was a 10/10. I had 3 meat platter and meats were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I only used sauce on the turkey as a dip. Brisket was mouthwatering and the BBQ pork was tangy but good. I'm picky because I eat everywhere in USA , and this compares to KY and SC NC. Smoked baked beans are a must try! Small seating on the inside, but tables are outside. The meats are cooked on smokers out back. Give this place a try. Convient to 264 and not far from Beach.
Definitely worth trying out.. Some of the best bbq around hands down. The only down side for me was the pulled pork for which it was a strong vinegar flavor but eaten with potato salad kind of tones it down. My favorite would be the jalapeno and cheddar sausage. Go getcha some!!!!
Came here from a review I seen on Tik Tok and they did not disappoint! While eating we over heard a customer that said he was there because he was at a kids birthday party the previous day that was catered(or food was just picked up) from here and everyone was raving about the brisket. The brisket was flavorful, moist and delicious. I got rib tips since they were out of ribs, we arrived around 5 and they close at 6 so that was totally understandable. The rib tips were also good. The sides we had potato salad and baked beans were both enjoyable for restaurant sides. This is a must try place if you are into BBQ.
No sauce needed -- ribs are pull-a-part perfect. The rub is on the slightly sweet side, but I bought some on the way out the door. Top quality bark on the brisket and the spicy link was as good as any I've had.
Excellent BBQ with generous portions on their sandwiches! Spicy coleslaw was unique and hit the spot. Brisket was some of the best I have had. Sauces were also on point. Small store with a hidden location in the back. Nicely decorated on the inside with friendly staff.
