Sweet potato pancakes are a must! I come to Waco on business regularly and always seek out Cafe Cappuccino for breakfast. I love the atmosphere and range of options for meals
Cautionary tale: don't try to go on Saturday morning. You will wait for ages and become unduly angry. If you decide to go, go late. We normally go closer to 11 am and don't have much problem. Anyway, the food is delicious and there is a ton of variety. My personal favorite is the banana bread french toast. The biscuits and gravy are also magical. The pancakes are huge, and the coffee is tasty. I would recommend!
Holy cow these pancakes are HUGE! Excellent service kids had strawberry and wife had blueberry and I had choc chip..... Great! A must when in Waco
My first time here! Instantly thought of my bucket list & the song by Taylor Swift "Begin Again". Staff looked like they were still waking up lol, all polite and helpful. Customers peacefully enjoyed their morning start. I really like this hole in the wall feel.
The best breakfast ive had. I go to the cafe twice a week, and absolutely love everything on the menu. The service is also great, everyone is so polite, the food always comes out fast, and my drink is never empty. 2 thumbs up.
The restaurant can be best described by its wait staff. Staffed by Baylor University students whom it was obvious it was there first waiting job. But what they lacked in skill they made up with enthusiasm. The whole restaurant is this way. Even with its obvious misses it still presents as a cheery, affordable and decent place to eat. You will not be wow'd but you will be feed in a chatty upbeat atmosphere that is not a chain restaurant.
Good food, bad space. I love love love Cafe Cappuccino downtown... BUT.... It is entirely too small, and the fact Baylor students SWARM there on the weekends or between their classes, there needs to either be a waiting area or they need to start progressing with their "renovations" or new building they've had posted on the bulletin board for about 1 year now.
The food - AMAZING. I love their banana pecan pancakes and the fact they take up an ENTIRE plate. Their home fries are really good too, especially with ketchup.
I wouldn't get the fajita omelette - wasn't impressed at all, and the omelette isn't thick enough to hold those types of veggies and meat. I was disappointed with it. HOWEVER - the other omelets are so good, especially just your simple breakfast meat and cheese in one!
Breakfast tacos are good too. But I seriously recommend the pancakes they are SO GOOD and addicting! The mere fact why I always come eat breakfast here when I come home from school.
And.... Eat at this spot rather than the one on Bosque!

Great Breakfast Burrito, a must try.
Specialty coffee and pancakes are delicious, service and regular coffee are lacking. Worth waiting for if you have time to kill, but nothing near efficient.
Great pancakes!. They have delicious pancakes made with fresh fruit! Very tasty! The service is also really good!
I would reccomend the Belgian Waffles & the mocha cappuccino. My son got the Belgian waffle & it was better than my eggs, hashbrowns & pancake.
Amazing. It would be great as a coffee shop, breakfast place, or sandwich shop but it is even better as all three. Best pancakes in Waco.
Best Brunch in Waco, Lunch Also Nice. First we go in and ask what the flavored coffees are today - frangelico, creme brulee, chocolate raspberry - and we like the "regular", too. Anything with a pancake can't be beat. Get a cafe combo with eggs your way, hash browns or country potatoes, your choice of breakfast meats AND upgrade your pancake to one of the specialty ones on the menu for just a bit more - gingerbread, choc chip, bananna pecan, mixed berry w/ nuts, whole wheat w/ apple. If you're not quite to payday, you can get a muffin big enough to share with a friend. Lunch starts at 11:00, so if you've got to have breakfast, get there before then. Lunch is also wonderful - chicken salad, tomato basil quiche with a lovely salad, or one of their fresh sandwiches - I keep trying new things and have yet to be disappointed. I also love the variety of teas available, Island Breeze being my favorite. The ambiance is very laid back and friendly. I see people in there studying all the time, or reading their Kindle, or in earnest conversation. Usually my first choice for brunch or lunch with friends. Walk it off seeing some of the historic downtown buildings, or shop across Austin Avenue at the funky Cameron Trading Co. One of Waco's best things, CC Downtown.
OMG! The pancakes are awesome. Great atmosphere and friendly folk to go along with the great food!
Pancakes are a great deal, good service, cheap and tasty.
Friendly. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being so friendly to our Saturday morning group! Great food, very helpful and friendly and able to accommodate our motley crew. Plan on $10 for a great breakfast/brunch.
Good lunch place downtown. Soups, salads, sandwiches--all good.
Been here a few times, it’s one of the better breakfast places in Waco. We waited about about 5-10 minutes using the check in website to check in. Service was quick to get us drinks and take our food order. After we ordered it took a bit for our food to come out. Maybe 25-30 minutes. The music kept fluctuating in volume which was a bit distracting. Also someone was messing with the lights. The lights in the restaurant turned on and off a few times but no big deal.
The food was mostly very great. Mexican mash is super flavorful. Everything was cooked really well except the biscuits and gravy was cold.
One single egg on the side was charged 4.05 with surprising and a bit of a rip off since a lot of the items were just barely more than that for a larger amount of food.
Other than the biscuits and gravy being cold, overcharged for a single egg, and the food taking a bit to come out it was great. We enjoyed it!
Such a cozy little place. Food was fantastic. Potatoes were seasoned just right and the gingerbread pecan pancake was HUGE and delicious. Our server Angie was very attentive. Great little breakfast spot in Waco.
The food here was pretty good and I might go again, but the wait times were incredibly long for how busy things were inside. I highly suggest you get-in-line on the website before going over unless you want to stand around a half hour. They had a good selections of tea and the banana nut French toast was interesting. My wife loved her breakfast burrito and it was quite large. It was a good way to start the day.
If it were up to me I'd knock out the half walls and add bar-style seating at the counter, then they didn't have to waste big tables on parties of 1. That said, the long wait may be attributable to going on Sunday, it seems a surprising number of restaurants in that area are closed Sundays, leaving few choices to anyone visiting the city. I've no doubt if literally any other restaurant opened for Sunday breakfast they would do well and help alleviate the long wait times everywhere else.
We stopped in last Saturday morning with the whole family. We expected a wait for our party of 12, but were seated immediately. The U shaped table made it easy for everyone in our party to talk to one another. Our server was excellent, she took our orders and our food was delivered in record time. The food was also delicious- none of of us were prepared for the size of the pancakes! Even the gluten free pancake passed the taste test.
Great breakfast place! Omelette was delicious. Angie is an awesome server! If you are ever in Waco, check this place out. They will treat you right.
Food was great quality and out in a timely manner considering how busy it was during brunch. Pretty large menu for such a small place but it makes it easier for everyone in the group to find something they like. Conveniently located by the farmers market on Saturdays and the Courthouse as well!
Good food, slow service.
Front of house seemed disorganized. As a busy breakfast came on at 9 AM, it was evident the restaurant could have carried more business if they had been more efficient seating people and taking orders. The kitchen was not slow, as once we had placed our orders, the food came out within about 10 minutes.
The hostess did not know where to seat us without consulting someone else. Then it took 10 minutes for someone to ask for our drink order. The waitress should have realized we were on a time limit when we asked for our drinks in to-go cups (the barista didn't get that info). Then it took 15 more minutes to get a food order. After we were done, it took a special request, 20 minutes, and another request to get our tab and to-go boxes. A meal that usually takes about 35 minutes from start to finish took 1 hour and 10 minutes. And they didn't even seem short-staffed, except for a good FOH manager.
Pancakes were good. Hot links were surprisingly good. Bacon was cooked well. My over easy egg was done perfectly. All serving sizes were a good portion. Coffee drinks needed more espresso.
Service were excellent. Coffee served hot. WHEAT PANCAKE IS A MUST TO TRY. LOVE IT. eggs cooked to perfection and flavourful. Great for breakfast and brunch.
