Great place right by the water! Cool atmosphere and they even had a live band. Everyone enjoyed their food. I will say, my sandwich was bad, but I let them know and the manager apologized and made it right. BUT, like I said, everyone else liked theirs. Mine was probably a one off.
Excellent food! Our server recommended the battered fish tacos and they were light crunchy, and very filling with the vegetables and smashed potatoes that came with them. Also had the beach mom nachos (think loaded fries with bacon, pulled pork, cheese, and other yumminess) and we were stuffed. Large portions!
So good! We got the BBQ baby back... very delicious, a bit dry but good flavor. For the sides we ordered mashed potatoes and mac&cheese. The M&C had a kick to it.
I have to me to ed the choice of music was great, 80's music. The service was amazing as well.
BBQ has excellent flavors... Cole slaw is super flavorful... Very clean, friendly staff... Great view of harbor...nice breeze flows thru... Serves cocktails.... We had pulled pork sandwiches and sweet potato fries... Will definitely be back s .. Prices are fair!!! The meat wasn't dry and chewy like a lot of other places!!! Highly recommend....
We popped in for happy hour drinks ($4 Mai Tais!) and were not disappointed! These were quality mai tais. We also decided to get some fries to hold us over until dinner was served on our sunset dinner cruise. They were very well seasoned. The host and our server were very friendly, giving the right amount of attention to us. Was a great experience. We highly recommend stopping by if your at the Maalaea harbor for any reason. It was enjoyable watching the chickens run around outside.
This restaurant was down by the harbor with open air dining and great views. The menu was interesting and the wait staff was very friendly. The food was great and serving portions were large.
Great casual dining with a view of the marina. Wednesday night special is a full rack of ribs for $23.95. I recommend splitting it for two or you'll have lots of leftovers. Ribs are meaty and tender. Live music most nights.
Amazing breakfast and bloody Mary's, the staff is upbeat and provides a great atmosphere for the customers, one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time
Decided to check this place out for breakfast since its just walking distance from our rental. The staff was super friendly, the service was awesome and the food was pretty good too!
Loved seeing the chickens cruise around trying to get into the establishment.. brought back memories of being back home on Guam!
UPDATE: We loved this place so much we returned. However the sequel was not as good as the first.....we went on Saturday night. We wanted ribs, out of ribs..we wanted pulled pork, out of pulled pork, out of drunken chicken and out of beans. Really??? It was 7pm and they are out of everything. Very disappointing
This is an AWESOME Maui find! Holy cow! We heard the ad on the local radio and decided to check it out! So glad we did. We were not disappointed. It is a local BBQ located close to the Maii Ocean Center. The portions were huge and the food is...TO...DIE....FOR!!! Do the sampler....we had it and it was incredible. The baked beans are creamy and smooth. The fries were amazing. The ribs were fabulous! Really everything we got was incredible. We did not have to wait on a monday night. Indoor and outdoor seating. Bar as well. We actually did this more than the first time becauee it was that good. We had great service here and everyone was accommodating. That alone gives them a 5 star. Keep up.the great work Beach Bums!!! You are AWESOME!
It was great, the pulled pork was amazing as was the BBQ sauce. Cornbread was awesome! I prefer my ribs to fall of the bone and it was a little tougher to get the meat off the rib here. Overall great experience and great food, I definitely need to try breakfast!
I read the Google reviewer's comments about the place having good BBQ. When I arrived I became skeptical. You know the old adage -"First impression... ". The establishment is a bit worn and definitely has seen better days. Could use a good cleaning, degreasing and a maintenance man. On the flip side, you do find some of the best BBQ in a mom & pop joint furnished like a 1970's bowling alley. Carpet missing, mysterious black fuzz covering the air vents, a sweaty dude laboring over charred chunks of flesh -you get the idea. Good BBQ/smoked meat stands on its own and doesn't need sauce. You'll find that at Beach Bum's I can't speak for everyday, different folks (smokers) have different ideas about smoking meat nor can I say it's the best on the island since I haven't tried all the BBQ on the island. You might be spooked by the menu at first when you see a smoked sausage on a hotdog bun covered with BBQ pork for $18.00 but that is oversimplified and the portion is decent. I had the Nalu sandwich, see photo, its brisket with pork. Both meats were flavorable with smoke. The brisket had a nice smoke ring on one side but not all the way around. The pork was moist with some bark. The place is located at the Maalaea Harbor, backside of a small shopping mall. Parking is free and plentiful. Dang, now I want some more BBQ.
Great BBQ, decent sea food, friendly staff and a fun atmosphere. Lobster was a bit overdone & the place was warm (no ac) but overall I'd go again as the pros and prices outweigh that.
This was a very friendly group of people from all over the USA. The food was not only delicious to the pallet it was also pleasing to the eyes. The price was fairly reasonable for the amount of food we received. They were even helpful in getting us reservations because they recommended Boss Frog (activity agency) and we were able to find and schedule us for a Luau the same day. They were a great group of people. It was instant love, we would go back because it was like eating at your grandmother's house.
