Always a great spot for Eastern style BBQ. There are charging stations outside if you have an electric vehicle. My wife says she likes their chicken better than any other fast food restaurant in the area. The hush puppies are small enough to dip into the little butter tubs they give you, and they always have extra vinegar sauce on the table. I like the idea that all Smithfield's have a sink to wash your hands right next to the ordering counter. The service in this location was great the day we were there. Lots of folks working behind the counter, and our order was brought to our table quickly.
Right off the highway. Easy parking. The food was really good. The staff were friendly. They even have the good ice! The one bad point: I had to fight the flies for my food. Whew. They were all over the restaurant, and huge. Do yourself a favor: get your food to go.
I enjoyed the white chicken and BBQ plate. The breading on the chicken was a bit much and the chicken was slightly overcooked and dry but tasty. The shredded pork and coleslaw were very good. I’m not sure what the bread was? Maybe deep fried corn bread? It too was tasty. Portion size was large enough to take leftovers home for another meal. Plate and large beverage was $17.00, a bit pricey. The store was busy so floor and some tables needed cleaning. Staff was very kind and helpful. I also enjoyed looking at many of the movie posters on the walls. Quick walk from the Pilot truck stop and rest area.
As much as I love Smithfields, we were very disappointed this time. Asked for hot crispy fries. They were nearly done. ☹️ The coleslaw wasn't drained so it was in everything. BBQ, fries and hush puppies. Hopefully next time.
Best fried chicken! Every bite is crunchy and delicious! Definitely be back the next time I'm in town!
Love stopping here when I travel down the interstate. Always a good clean place. Food is always delicious. Staff and management always welcoming and take care of my needs

The food here is great, and the staff is consistently very friendly. If anyone in management sees this review, please tell the staff of this location how much I appreciate their good service (most notably the blonde lady at the register and also the lady who cleans the tables and refills drinks).
Seen these all over the state but never tried it, not bad I had a chili dog, should have gotten two, they were pretty good, not bad prices either, lady taking my order was so friendly and helpful.
Nice country sit down restaurant. You order at the counter, but they did bring the food out to the table. It was nice that even without being the normal restaurant with a wait staff, they still had folks that would come around and see if you wanted anything. The food was delicious and fresh. I had the BBQ and chicken combo meal with slaw and potato salad. The location was nice and clean and the staff were all very friendly. Yes, I would recommend this location.
Best smithfields I've ever been to by far. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The food is incredible and they give you a lot of food for the price (when you ask for double fry they load it up). Exceptional chicken and barbecue that cannot be beat by any other restaurant and I say this unequivocally. This location in particular is the best smithfields I've been to but they are all great.
First time here. We are from Texas. Ordered the 3 piece tender and fries. They are big tender pieces with a good amount of fries. Sweet tea was sweet and delicious. My husband ordered the pork sandwich with beans. It was ok. Manager and employees greet everyone that comes inside the building. Very friendly establishment!!
Great as always. Food is always cooked perfectly, and is hot. Staff very professional and constantly asks if we need anything else. Make the customer feel welcome.
The best bbq, fried chicken, and sweet tea around! Everytime we come from Virginia we stop on the way to our vacation so we will have a pint of bbq and chicken to eat on for the duration of our vacation then we stop and get more on the way back home! They have great family dinner deals and it's hands down the best! I remember eating Smithfield bbq as a teen and 15 years later it is still the best! Great service and exceptional food!
