A nice cozy restaurant. The French Onion Soup was just ok but the mussels were yummy. My bf got the rock fish which was ok, it's tender, wish the sauce had a bit more flavor, too bland for my taste. However I love the duck breast, cooked to medium exactly how I ordered it and it was perfect together with the sauteed apple. You cannot skip dessert at this place, must get the Floating Island, so soft like a cloud, just look at my photos. Oh! Be sure to order a cup of coffee to go with it. ;)

Nice Bistro restaurant with excellent food. Service was great, food came out fast, staff was ready to recommend favorites. Just an absolute gem of a restaurant. I had the seafood stew and the wife had scallops. I have paid a lot more at other places for much worse food. I highly recommend.

This restaurant is a truly amazing. In the course of a week my family of 5 ate here twice. The first time was great and the second time was mind-blowing. We rented a house a few blocks away and fortunately came early in our trip. Our first dinner was on the patio which was delightful. Service was great and food really good. My son had the lamb which we tried to steer him away from since it was one of the more expensive things on the menu. I had the duck which was equally good. Everything was well paired and balanced with great flavor. It was “simple” French food done really well and it doesn’t hurt that wine is ½ price during the week. The second dinner is the reason I have to write this review. My wife and I both agree it was in one of the top 10 meals we’ve ever had – and I didn’t even have one of the “good” entrees. My wife cooks a very good Bourguignon. It’s a stew but haven’t found a better one out there. My son ordered it (again against my advice since it wouldn’t be better than at home). The Bourguignon here was unbelievably good. It was not a stew but a single piece of meat with kind of a deconstructed stew. The sauce was what really set it apart. My wife had the rabbit which was perfectly done and very unique. I had something good but don’t remember what because of the rabbit Bourguignon. Again, simple food prepared in French fashion, but done perfectly. On the second night we insisted we couldn’t eat desert since we had all but licked our plates. No one listens to me, so the waiter brought out a Floating Island which is what was in the picture. It was so light and delicious that everyone ate it before I could take a picture.

French onion soup, striped bass and marzipan fruit tart were all exceptional. Highly recommend this place.

We had such a wonderful brunch here. The sangria was delicious and the prices were SO reasonable (especially for DC). Its a great spot to grab a bite before hitting the Eastern Market for some shopping. We tried the Croque Madame which was excellent, as well as the pork sandwich which was so unique and recommended by the waiter. The entire table enjoyed the meal. I would definitely come back - delicious classic French food at a good price in a great location.

Excellent French bistro style food with an upscale attitude. I have yet to try something at Montmartre that I didn't enjoy. Great wines to go with every meal. Very friendly staff. My only complaint is the noise level in the small restaurant can get quite high when it's a full house. I have been coming here for years and will keep coming back.

Service was excellent, but creme brulee Das thin. Coffee was lukewarm but they replaced it quickly.

Consistently good quiche and other smaller lunch plates. Dinner is always tastey with a mix of traditional French fare and standards. Very relaxed atmosphere and super nice staff. Outdoor seating is perfect when it's not too hot and the construction across the street isn't too loud.

We had a large group and they were very accommodating to us. We ordered the banana bread toast for the group to start and it was delicious. The quiche was my entree and it was OUTSTANDING. I was skeptical when my friends chose this spot for brunch, but I was happily surprised and satisfied.

The service was doubly attentive to begin and all our needs were taken care of. I had the most tender and only octopus I've ever eaten and tried some of my dining companions escargot - again a first for me. I chose the rabbit leg for my main, based on the delightful experience with the starter and enjoyed gently shredding the tender meat from the bone. Seriously, this is not for vegans. All told, it was a wonderful dining experience and I would gladly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Eastern Market and looking for something a little special. Bon apetit!

Five stars. The duck was to die for, the wine delish, the service top notch. Only issue I saw was a couple of folks on the line preparing food with their hair completely uncovered - including the head chef. Super crowded/noisy/small. Looked popular.

Want some fresh French fare on a Saturday morning before going to Eastern Market for groceries? Can't imagine a better place. Food is relatively cheap (for D.C. anyway), the service was polite and prompt, the atmosphere was bright and welcoming. And most importantly: the food was just plain good. We will go back for sure.

The food here is excellent. I've never been disappointed and even on a Sunday during French I've called the head and been able to get a table within 5 minutes. The service is good and I will continue to go to this place when I want brunch on the Hill.

Excellent. Some wait staff are properly French. Lamb stew was amazing. The small plates are so good, we can happily forgo entrees and just order appetizers and soup. One of our favorite places to eat in neighborhood.

How kind of them to allow us to stay an hour after closing and enjoy our meal. The food was fabulous and the staff did not rush us. We love dining here with friends or a romantic dinner for two. Always special.
