This is the crown jewel of French Bistro cooking in DC. The Chef/Owner Francis Layrle works over every authentic detail of this bistrot. Make time to enjoy your meal. Let your mind take you away like you are eating in France. Order your French food memories and you will be transported by the food and hospitality of food and staff. La Piquette needs to be on your DC area foodie bucket list!

Top five meals ever! Great service. The veal was to die for. Get the foie gras. The bread beneath is the jewel. I will be back.

Open air. Beautiful night. Sweet Provençal atmosphere. Fragrant glass of rose. Lovely seafood. Comfortable attentive service. Delicious aromatic dinner - we had beautiful salads, seafood-broth-y dish and steak frites. Just loved this little place.

Best rabbit, duck, cassoulet and charcuterie platter. Oh yeah, chocolate mousse. And cappuccino. Oh heck. Everything is off the charts. And service is great. And Thierry--best front of house in the area.

We went to La Piquette in DC based on a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. It was exactly what a French Bistro should be. The gazpacho soup was wonderful. My husband had the sweetbreadbreads, which he has not had in years. I had the chicken paillard with salad and took home leftovers. Had it for lunch today. Easy to find and it was a beautiful day to eat outside.

We stopped in to celebrate my birthday. What a great choice! It was so authentic French. Our Rose was splendid, paired with our shrimp entrees. Service was fantastic and Chef Francis even came out to talk with us. Will definitely make a point to come back here if back in DC. We bought a gift certificate for our hosts so they could be as pampered as we were. Chalkboard menues, creative and traditional ingredients, well prepared, beautifully presented, generous portions,.. I could go on.....just GO THERE!

Food was fabulous, service was impeccable....we were a large table (9 people) that all didn't arrive on time and they were fabulous in providing excellent service for a birthday dinner in the middle of the Friday evening rush on a beautiful day when everyone was out. The Napoleon cake was amazing!

Experience could not have been more pleasant! Food and wine were outstanding. We enjoyed top notch service and a most authentic French dining evening. Chef Francis is very skilled and his creative dishes are sure to please. We live in Florida but are now encouraged to trek to DC to enjoy the cuisine again!

This is one of the best restaurants in dc. It challenges the 3 michelin stars. The Chef is experienced, talented and knows his clients. I would give it a six star, if I could. Lars Rosdahl

SOOOOOOOOOOO Happy to have La Piquette in my neighborhood. The Beef Tartar is the BOMB .... literally and explosion of flavors in your mouth. The staff is professional and engaging. I hope La Piquette is around for the long haul.

Absolutely incredible meal! Came here with my brother and great aunt and uncle and I was really blown away. I had the privilege of being in Paris this past summer and when I tell you the quality of this meal met the quality of what I ate in Paris, I was shocked. So hard to find in the US! The veal sweetbreads with the mushrooms were incredible. I had the skate wing which was perfectly cooked, and such a nice light option for lunch. My brother ordered the cassoulet which was outstanding and we shared. Can’t recommend enough and already want to bring my mom here on our next visit to DC!

Beef tartare was excellent. Fries that came with tartare was also crisp and to the point. Also loved their escargots were well seasoned with tomato sauce. Soup was enough for two people to share.

A friend and I ate outdoors on a Saturday evening. We had duck breast and sweetbreads with mushrooms. Both were excellent. The order of yellow and green bean salad with shallots and vinaigrette was equally delicious. We split an order of canalees for dessert. That came with creme anglaise. The French Mule cocktail made with Domaine Canton ginger liqueur set the experience on a good start. This is a restaurant that prepares French cuisine adroitly. When one spends over $100 a person for a meal these days, it is good to know there are restaurants that meet and exceed expectations. Too many offer mediocre results. I will be back and look forward to doing so.

Excellent service. Excellent food. Aesthetically pleasing. Prices are as expected. I had a glass of Syrah, Gazpacho, Merguez Grillees, and a glass of Jurancon for dessert because I couldn't eat another bite. I will be back.

I really recommend their duck breast dish, and the mashed potato that it comes with is also super creamy and delicious. Their frites are also very good.

Wonderful bistro experience at La Piquette, felt like I was in Le Marais district while being in Cleveland Park DC. Delicious bistro fare, all the favorites and the bread, OMG - the best warm crunchy baguette you’ll find. Service was attentive, cozy absence, splendid wine list - affordable and quite good house selection - got to go back!

We picked outdoor seating on a cold and windy April Sunday... That was our mistake, I guess. We eventually switched the tables and the heater effect was better there. The place is not too big inside and feels noisy when fully filled up. The food is good although pricey. Eggs Benedict is $17. Excellent brunch choices for main dishes and cocktails. Apple tart dessert is really good.

I've had dinner there more than ten times and not a single dish was anything less than excellent. Staff are very friendly and atmosphere is great. Price is a bit high, but actually a good deal overall especially for dc

Excellent French place! Very similar to my actual Paris experience. Portions are small (as they should be, like in France). And some people would find it pricy. But this gives you an opportunity to try more items per meal and still feel ok, not “thanksgiving-dinner-full”. I tried beer tartar, which was excellent. Also seared foi gras (I’d give it 8/10, so very good). And also risotto. Which I liked. But by that time I was already a bit fuller than I wanted to be because I spent quite a bit of time ordering 1 dish at a time. Thank you and I’ll definitely visit again.

Food is delicious. Service was slow. It's a relatively small dining room tightly packed so it could be difficult to have conversations pending where you sit. But a wonderful French restaurant.

I dined here with my family last night and I very rarely write reviews but I'm still thinking about my meal this morning. I had the Short Ribs entree and I have to admit that I purposefully ate very slow so I could savor every bite. It was absolutely incredible! I can't wait to go back! Service and atmosphere great as well!

We loved our dinner last Friday in La Piquette! Very good French restaurant and not too expensive! David and our server made us feel at home since the very first minute. The beef tartar was probably one of the best we've ever tried and the duck a l'orange was delicious! We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant!

This is a relatively small restaurant that serves excellent French food. I had a coque au vin that was simply delicious. Tables are pretty close to each other which made for a somewhat noisy environment.
