Best coffee shop in town! Love the atmosphere and their coffee. Especially their draft latte is definitely worth to try! Their old location (shaw) is much better than the chinatown location.

When searching for coffee, this place consistently came up as the best espresso in DC. That is not an overstatement, it was fantastic! Tucked away in an alley that is under construction, this small coffee shop was vibrant and full of people working away. If we didn't have to make our flight, we definitely would have hung out here longer.

Todd’s La Colombe cafes are located in New York City , Philadelphia, Chicago, Seoul, and as of a  few weeks ago, Washington, DC. We headed to his cafe after his presentation to try some of the coffee that he potentially risked his life to obtain. La Colombe’s DC location is located in an alley across the street from the Convention Center. Yes, we talking about the same alley as Rogue 24, Blagden Alley. La Colombe is a small (long and narrow partially unfinished) cafe, and is generally very crowded with coffee connoisseurs. I tried the single origin Kochere from Ethiopia which was delicious, had a natural sweetness, and opened up as it cooled. “S” enjoyed her cappuccino.

Exceptional coffee that he sources himself. He hosts the TV Show, Dangerous Grounds on the Travel Channel and owns coffeehouses in Philly (3), Soeul (3), NYC (3), and DC (1). He also carries ever changing locally sourced baked goods. Small place and it is busy. It is in an alley near convention center.

Carved into the wall. Usually, "hole in the wall" refers to a find-of-a-restaurant in a challenged neighborhood. La Colombe's Washington operation is almost literally a hole in the wall -- the alley-facing side of a building. (Can be hard to find, for that reason.)

La Colombe is no more and no less than it needs to be -- coffee drinks and a few small snacks. It features bay doors for good or OK weather so essentially all patrons on many days are really sitting outside.

Not least -- the superb beans of La Colombe.

No more expensive than Starbucks.

We really liked it.

This place has one of the best coffees that we've had in DC. The draft coffee is amazingly smooth and creamy. The coffee is fragrant and thoroughly enjoyable, although I usually prefer my coffees to be stronger and bolder in taste. It's not the easiest to find the place considering you have to pass a smaller alleyway to the back to see it. Would definitely be back for another cup before I leave this place. Plenty of art on the walls outside the cafe - a bonus.

La Colombe Coffee Roasters is one of my favorite coffee chains. I enjoy getting coffee to go there as well as drinking it on-site. They usually serve coffee in beautiful, colorful cups, and you can also get a tasty croissant.

Delicious and tasty coffee with yummy butter croissant! I wish they toast the croissant and it could be more delicious than ever before! But, it’s all good! Staff was friendly and helpful! Btw, street parking is very easy to find if you’re coming from outside of the state lol!

Hidden on Blagden Alley NW in DC, but it is easy walk to get to if staying in the area. This is locate down a neighborhood alley and not easily spotted, but worth the hunt. You will know you are in the right area as it has plenty of artmurals around. You will also find the DC Alley Museum in the same area. Very welcoming place as it has an open design like you would find in a neighborhood like this. I got a ham and cheese croissant with my cappuccino. If you want to get a quiet coffee and breakfast away from the DC chaos, drop over here for a spell.

The cold brew here is superior. What I appreciate most about this shop vs the 99 others is the attention to detail: they offer oat milk, cream, and homemade simple syrup at the bar for you to add yourself without the $1 up charge. The bar is a true coffee bar, you can stand and sip, complete with a spoon and tea plate. It’s a coffee experience, and I’m here for it ☕️

A boutique coffee shop hidden in the city. I tried a Pumpkin croissant with shape of a muffin that was delicious.

Great staff!! Pastries and coffee are delicious but the barista(s) are the icing on the cake…. all very friendly and obliging. They don’t get annoyed when you’re specific about a drink you want tweaked. Très accommodating with a perfect mocha latte every time. Not filled with 3/4 cup of foam instead of drink and then get offended when I ask them to scoop out the foam, like requested from jump. Didn’t experience any of it here. Hidden around the corner and cozy with great tasting and aromatic coffees, the cafe can get pretty busy but in a good way…. servers are still on point with very little waiting time. Kudos to La Colombe Coffee Roasters 🙌🏾

Nice place for a coffee and pastries. Stopped here for a morning coffee. Was quickly served. Spacious, with good number of tables and chairs to enjoy your coffee while work remotely or just study. Would recommend trying here, if you are in the neighborhood.

One of the most delicious lattes I have ever had. I am big on coffee, and I highly recommend this place. Blagden Alley is a nice place to see—which is another plus!

I have to say this was the best oat milk latte I've ever had! I'm craving going back. Also a cute location, though the seating is not too comfortable so I wouldn't linger. But the coffee! Irresistibly good! 🤤

By far the best coffee in DC! I have tried several coffee places around Washington but I would rate this as the best of them all...staff are very friendly and welcoming. The place is cozy and in a quiet area behind Marriott courtyard..tried the biscotti and cannele from their bakeries and they weren't as good as expected.. restrooms are clean and tidy.. I would definitely visit again.

Great little spot for coffee or tea! The barista was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is pretty nice. I did have to get some work done and I’ll say that the chairs aren’t the most comfortable and the single tables are a bit small but I guess that’s necessary since there isn’t much space. It can feel a bit crowded at times since it does get busy but it’s sort of unpredictable. There also weren’t too many outlets and no wifi so everyone was using hotspots. Not the most comfortable place to sit and work but definitely would recommend it for the menu if you’re picking up or sitting without the intention of working.

Original and simple craft coffee shop. Great lattes and some pastries. The seating is in a row against a large garage door of windows that opens on warm days.

We just followed the crowed and it led us to this coffee place. It wasn’t disappointing at all! Very good coffee and bakeries. It resides in Blagden Valley which was interesting itself. It was an old shabby part of town now is under going transforming to a better place. The colorful murals lighten up the valley. Parking was easy ( from what I observed) just park on the brick road.

I absolutely love the style of this place. Small, hole-in-the-wall joint that serves excellent coffee. It's like a secret gift to the area. Danny the hostess was knowledgeable and knows her coffee! The pour-overs here are great and they feature various types of both espresso and drip coffees from dark to light! Music is enjoyable and not distracting. The style of the pottery they use is incredibly beautiful and striking. It comes from a handmade seller in Italy which gives it an authentic feel to touch. Definitely coming again next time I visit DC!

i’ve been here quite a lot as i live in the neighborhood, usually when i walk my dog. i’ll go in and get a coffee and then sit outside on the bench with my dog. today though, my dog decided to be a troublemaker and i just wanted to say THANK YOU to the employee who brought my dog a treat and offered to watch him for me. i’m sorry he tried to run away, i really appreciate you! the coffee is always delicious and the staff are amazing.
