Visiting from Adelaide, Australia. What a great Irish Pub. Delicious food, started with the potato soup, couldn’t fault it, then had the roast chicken and it was perfect, very tasty, reasonably priced, really enjoyed the atmosphere and was entertained by live Irish music/singing. Would definitely recommend.
The atmosphere was fun. We engaged with the people beside us making it even more enjoyable. Our food was great with good beer!!! Highly recommend it!
What a great place. For starters the drink menu was outstanding, I had raw clams on the half and my steak was cooked to perfection! Now for the funniest part as I’m walking to the rest room I heard a comment by a worker there. I was kind of caught off guard but remember look to the tile wall for a tiny whole. Look through the hole you will not be disappointed
Awesome service , Awesome good food , Awesome live music, and very tasty Guinness . Highly recommend it !!!!
The Dubliner was exceptionally delicious. Their lump crab cake was magnificent! My husband had the Shepherds pie and it was very delicious. Their portions are are huge as well! Awesome place to eat with a great Irish setting.
Phenomenal food and very friendly staff. I highly recommend it!
A great place to spend St. Patrick's Day! More crowded than years past, since it was a Saturday, but our crowd practically owned the lower bar!
Authentic Irish experience with 2nd generation Irish owner who knows his regulars by name and to whom no-one is a stranger. What a warm welcome and top class service with our delicious fish and chips, Irish Reuben’s and Guinness. Generous servings and top class hospitality make this a great Union Station area stop. Wish we could have made it back for the Irish Evening Music or the breakfast and Irish coffees. Make a stop and you’ll be made to feel as important as some of the politicians that may drop in there.
A great pub atmosphere with live music. My server, Joe, was excellent. I had a very nice side salad and a tasty but simple Irish stew. Gravy, meat and potatoes with not a vegetable in sight, at least none that I could discern under the gravy. I would try something next time, but the quality and taste was definitely there.
Food was really great and came out fast, but our service was not stellar. The restaurant was SUPER crowded at 6:00 pm on a Wednesday. We didn't wait long, but we were squeezed at a table at the intersection of the outside patio door and dining room. Our chairs were bumped often by passer by's. The portions were generous, but appropriate for the price you pay.
The food here was delicious!!! I had their version of a French dip and it was a wonderful sandwich! The potato soup was good but the beef stew was really impressive. It tasted like something your mom would make ( if you happened to have an Irish mother)...so yummy!

For those coming to DC on the train and in need of a bite, head across the street over to the right to The Dubliner, the red brick building visible when you exit Union Station. It’s a hospitable and lively pub serving Irish favorites with live music nightly. The Dubliner’s been open since 1974. I started with an “Irish Catholic,” a Moscow Mule with instead of the traditional vodka, The Dubliner Irish Whiskey, a smooth-drinking blended whiskey aged in American Oak bourbon casks. A must try ($11)! With my meal, I had their Auld Dubliner Amber Ale, a brew made exclusively for them ($7). I’d recommend both.
If you enjoy Irish food and drinks, this is a must. It has the feel of an authentic Irish pub, with live music nightly. I highly recommend the Shepherds Pie, which was the best I have ever had. As expected they poor Guinness properly, and have just about every Irish whiskey made. Additionally, they have their own Auld Dubliner Amber Ale, which you have to try if you enjoy Irish Ales!
If the weather allows, you will most definitely want to sit out on the patio as they have a nice one. You also want to get there early as the patio fills up fast.
Everyone I went with enjoyed their meal. I tried the soft shell crab sandwich. The breading wasn't too thick so that crab was very well defined. So well defined I had to cut its face off and set it to the edge of the plate because I just couldn't eat it's little face. Wouldn't be the first time that a waitress has picked up my empty plate with nothing but a crab face on it. But face or no, if that sandwich is available when you try the Dubliner you should give it a day in court because it was absolutely delicious. One of the best soft shell crabs I have ever tasted.
Worth checking out.
The fish and chips were decent. Cool atmosphere. 7 out of 10
Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Not a great menu selection, but the Reuben is delicious. Cocktails are weak.
Great atmosphere, warm and friendly, and excellent food. Enjoy a Black and Tan with your shepherd's pie.
This pub was attached to the hotel my spouse and I were staying at. The first night there we decided to go out on the town and why not start at the bar attached to our lobby? We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of their house brews (the black and amber is the bomb butter). Our bartender, Patrick, was on point! He not only recommended a few great places to check out nearby, but he also had the manager bring us a few business cards so we could remember the names of the places.
The only downside was that we came to eat dinner there the last night and I was not so impressed. Nothing to complain about though, it's an Irish pub, if you want amazing food a pub probably isn't the number one pick. Our breakfast in bed from them was awesome though and totally made up for the average dinner we had. The Irish definitely know how to make a mean breakfast.
In summary, love it, recommend it and suggest you sit in the bar!
Good Irish food. Stew was nice and tasty, perfect on a blustery night. MIL had the shep-pie, which looked yummy and she was pleased. Spousal-unit had a smoked salmon plate of bliss.
Food and service were excellent. I would definitely recommend it.
Great lil gem! Their fish was very good, well cooked with a good flavor, the classic corned beef sandwich was great and my sons nuggets were so juicy I cleared his plate when he was finished. Great place to eat with good prices. Definitely check them out.
Great Place. I tried this place out 7 years ago when staying in the Phoenix Hotel and absolutely loved it. Since then, I have been recommending both the Hotel and Restaurant to Arizonans and Texans visiting the Washington Capitol area. This Fall I was in the area for 4 days and ate there 6 times...sampling breakfast, lunch and dinner and a variety of menu items. Every time the service and food were excellent. The atmosphere (both inside and on the outside seating area) is outstanding. I love eating lunch there during the week, because I feel like I am on the set of an early "West Wing" episode. I continue to recommend the place.
Good Guiness, great food and awesome dessert at a great price. We'll definitely eat here again before the trip is over.
Good Beef Stew and Chicken Pot Pie. Very friendly staff and fast service! No live music on a Wedeesday night at 8:00 but maybe it starts later?
This was our first night in Washington, and we felt right at home, the food was very good and reasonable price, staff were very helpful and friendly, loved the Bailyes cheescake. Would deffo recomend to anybody.
Great Potato Soup. We were recommended the Dubliner Irish Pub by one of our tour guides, and the potato soup was outstanding!!
Begorrah. This is the place for really good, traditional food and spirits. Everyone who works there has an honest brogue and the acoustic music at night is infectious.
I made the mistake of coming in on a St Paddy's Day once, but otherwise, it's a great time at a great price. I recommend the Shepard's Pie and the Salmon, but the burgers are darn good too. Don't miss the steak fries with your Guinness.
Visiting from Pittsburgh and went off on a recommendation. Nice place, had live music the night we went, good atmosphere and not too loud. Impressed with both the shepherds pie and chicken pot pie. Filling and delicious.I was not let down by the Dubliner Whiskey highly recommend at least a little taste. So far my favorite restaurant of my vacation.
Chicken pie was good. Hamburger mediocre. Service very efficient, and fast up to the extent you got the feeling you're in a fast food restaurant. We had a drink in the bar where there was live music. Very nice. Overall this place is too crowded for me, losing atmosphere. Realize this is a personal opinion, and shouldn't stop others to try out this place.
Classic Irish pub serving delectable, traditional Irish food and alcohol. They're well known for their shepherd's pie and Guinness burger, both of which are delicious and filling.
I was drawn to their wide selection of drinks and would recommend their Tipperary Orchard.
In general, the vibes at the restaurant are incredible and remind me of Ireland.
Great pub! Stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel attached so it was convenient to come down and eat. Ate here twice during our stay. Loved the brussel sprouts and Irish reuben. Chicken pot pie was good too with gigantic chunks of chicken in it, although it was a tad bit salty. Service was great and they had live music both nights (Friday and Sunday).
The Dubliner Restaurant is a fantastic Irish Pub. The place is large and has tons of seating in smaller, cozy rooms, including outdoor seating and an enclosed patio (well, since it was hot, the windows were closed). The rooms are pretty authentic and are really well appointed. The staff are friendly and helpful, and service was pretty quick. The menu has plenty of beer, whiskey, cocktail and food choices; including being the very first place to serve Kilkenny Cream Ale (which is a nitrogen pour, and super smooth!). The food was great - and next time we're in DC, we'll definitely hit this place again! Highly recommended!
If you want a good traditional Irish bar in DC, you’ll find it at this 50 year old pub! I’ve been in DC all my life but don’t come here often enough. You can’t beat an Irish pub and this place has history. I just had a burger with fries that was delicious. You can get lots of traditional food & plenty of spirits. I’ll come back for the fish & chips and corn beef. Joe at the bar is very attentive like a good bartender should be. I decided to try the apple pie ala mode and it was good but not amazing. I’ll be back soon for some shepherds pie, corn beef & cabbage…lots to choose from.
Great Irish pub!
Great Irish meals (and Philly cheese steak), Irish (live) music, Irish waiter, lots of Irish beers and whiskies.
Waiter looked well after us, and the kids even got their own table to play AmericanOpoly.
If you don’t believe, ask Barak….
Watch out: there is already a 20% gratuity on their bills!
The quintessential Irish pub. It's no wonder that Irish dignitaries visit when in the US. It's broken up in such a way that it is rich, warm, and inviting. The primary bar it's small and cozy and pours absolutely perfect Guinness pint. The pub fare is excellent my Ruben was amazing. I would definitely recommend taking some time to come here.
OMG!! The food was so good! Corned beef was so delicious and tender. It cabe with boiled and buttered potatoes, cabbage and carrots. I ate the whole plate! I would definitely come back! The picture is partially through the meal. So good!
The food was great, service was amazing and atmosphere was awesome!!! Great Irish pub steps away from Union Station and The Capital. 2 adults, 3 beers, 2 appetizers, 2
entrees; with tip, less than $100.00 in D.C.!!!
Mary Lynn was the greatest server! Very attentive! She kept waters filled, the beer flowing and the table cleaned. With the little tables here that’s very important!
Extensive Irish Whiskey 🥃 list and great beer!
Had a nice dinner here before catching a train at Union. Service was quick and friendly, food was great and the portions were large. Overall a great experience.
Super friendly staff. Great Irish pub fare and libations. Indoor & patio seating. Extensive menu. I went with the classic fish & chips. No complaints! My husband went with the Guinness Burger, which has no bun. It’s more of a hamburger steak on hash browns with onion straw topping. He said it was excellent. The only complaint we have is the acoustics of the dining area where we ate. There was a large party & we could hear everything from across the room. I know it’s the nature of Irish pubs to be noisy, so I still give a 5 star. You are on your own for parking. It’s catycorner from Union Station. We took the Metro.
Great restaurant. We stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel - which is attached to it on the ground floor. Very convenient to get a late dinner. Shepherd's pie, brussel sprouts, stew, and fish and chips were all amazing
This place is soooo awesome! We had the fish and chips and the shepherd's pie - both were delicious! And best of all the kitchen split them for us. The Kilkenny was a creamy delight!! And the staff and servers were so nice.
Don't miss this restaurant!
Stopped in for lunch and a couple drinks. Our waiter, Brad, was great. Friendly and informative. The food was good and the atmosphere was Irish pub like. The Sheperd's pie was done well. I would go back and do recommend it.
Edit
Liked it so much we went back a second time.
Visiting from Florida and its so nice to have a warm atmosphere and awesome people working! Darcy waited on my family and was so sweet, efficient, and helpful. The food was great. I had the brioche French toast that was so delicious it didn't need syrup! The Trinity Omelet was tasty and the boxty potatoes were seasoned perfectly!
The Dubliner is a cozy, welcoming and beautiful restaurant and pub. It was worth the walk in the rain to get here and made it feel even more authentic. The owners family was there eating when we visited and they were all super friendly and warm with the guests. An Irishman was playing live music while we ate some insanely delicious food. A memory that'll last forever.
