This restaurant never fails! Great food, great service and great price. I sat down at 1:30pm and walked out at 2:15pm after consuming my yogurt parfait with vegetarian steak and eggs. The only reason I come here is because of their signature brown sauce. Thanks Tashika and Gretel for great service. Now I head back to SC!

We came here around 6 pm on Friday. I made a reservation through the phone. Friendly staff , delicious food but music was loud. They only have one main course ( bread, salad, fries and Steak) they serve the steak in two portion. We really loved the steak. One of the best steaks you would ever have. 10/10 đź’™

Decent steak frites joint serving just one thing: steak frites with a salad course and some delicious house-baked bread. Unless it’s brunch, in which case they serve a few other things, too. Desserts are also available but be warned: the sundae is insanely large. And the apple pie is microwaved but it does taste good even through the pastry is a little limp.

The steak and fries were good and the sauce made the meal great for me. The salad and bread weren’t very good but I got enough steak and fries so it didn’t bother me. The meal does start to get pricey if you have a few glasses of wine though. I would come back next time I’m in dc

Brunch was delicious! Bottomless mimosas, bloody Mary's, or screwdrivers. Small selection, but DELICIOUS. We went on St. Patrick's day, and they had a baileys spiked sundae. Definitely wanting to come back for dinner now.

Tucked away in the quaint Barracks Row neighborhood of Capitol Hill is one of Washington DC's best-kept secrets -- a delightful steak and frites restaurant called Medium Rare. The dinner menu is simple -- steak and fries with a salad and bread -- but consistently excellent. Service is always friendly and efficient. You get a great meal for not a lot of money. Check it out. You're sure to love it as much as I do.

Love this place for a high-quality, reasonably priced, city-atmosphere dining experience. Just had brunch for the first time. Quick, legit includes drinks in fixed price and same high-quality.

The staff was amazing, the service was amazing . I really enjoyed the entire vibe of the restaurant. My friend and I came in at about 930 . It was close to the closing time however, they still welcomed us with open arms and warm hearts. There were only about 2 or 3 other parties in the entire restaurant and the staff worked as a well oiled machine! My waitress told me that anyone in a black shirt could help me. She was right! You don’t have to wait for anything in there. The music was pretty loud but I didn’t mind because they mostly play top 40 hits. The manager was extremely friendly and calm under pressure. There was an incorrigible gentleman sitting at a table very close to us, he was very rude and very disrespectful. She handled herself with so much calm that I was impressed. I would certainly dine here again, the food was great for the price point . You get two portions , and the fries and sauce are so good you don’t even need ketchup!!! I would recommend to anyone looking to have a simple romantic date with a twist. This is certainly a “rare” dining place!!!

Wow!!! Steak here is freakin bomb. I got medium rare. My brother was in love with the gravy. You get a side of fries with the steak.

No rice that night but the salad was even better. My lamb was delicious but a tad room temperature. My Stella's were big and cold and the waitstaff were sweet. I was with family, but man this is such a great place for a date night. I look forward to coming back. 5 stars for the music selection!

Came here for brunch on a Saturday at 11:30. Place was already pretty busy (make reservations!) You get an appetizer choice of a yogurt parfait, salad, or fruit salad as well as great crusty bread and butter. As we waited for our food, we asked for a bottle of prosecco for the table and OJ for our ENDLESS mimosas. And boy were they endless. The place started to fill up and the manager politely asked us to relocate because he was behind on reservations (we had been there about an hour and a half and I think the max is 3). It was no problem as we had finished eating (the meals were DELICIOUS- and the portions sizes very reasonable. A nice change from the huge American portions. And this made sense since it was high quality steak). We decided to move outside (cold out, but they allowed us). They continued to serve us even in the freezing weather. An AMAZING time, support nice staff, great food, awesome drinks, 100% will go back. However, DO NOT bring vegetarians....

I went here with two friends last night (Tuesday) around 9 pm (1 hour left until closing) and the staff was so nice and accommodating. They were happy to see us and greeted us with a smile. It was warm so we sat outside which was quiet and perfectly lit with string lights. We sat down and were immediately helped by a very knowledgeable waiter despite there being a prefixed menu. He help us choose drinks that went well with the food and was right! The food was delicious, first course was a light salad and then the main course of steak and thin cut fries. I actually forgot about the second serving so I was pleasantly surprised. The food came out super fast so we were able to take our time without being rushed. We left feeling happy and full. I highly recommend this place! Hidden gem for sure!

Food wasn't bad, its a bit different than your classic steak restaurant as I'm sure you can tell from the additional reviews, but you truly can't beat the price. The food wasn't terrible, steak was tender although more of a flank type cut. Portions were great and I left feeling full. The staff seemed unusually quiet and actually seemed to avoid any type of conversation. This was a tad unsettling, however not a deal breaker.

They have a great business model. It is steak only. The only choice you get is how it's cooked. The kitchen only has to master one entree. You get fries, good, hearty bread and a nice salad. The steaks are obviously a very inexpensive cut. But they are very tender and flavorful. Thinly sliced and, I believe, lightly marinated and served with a house sauce which is quite tasty and complements the meat well. And seconds on meat and potatoes are available for the asking even encouraged. They come around with platters laden with more steaks and baskets of fries. I'm not a big beef eater, but I look forward to a return visit. My only complaint was the high noise level. But you get that almost anywhere that's popular. When I want quiet, I stay home.

Let me caveat my review by saying that I am not the biggest fan of steaks. I am not saying I don't like them, but rather steak is not the top item on the list when I make my selection. Understandably, I had some reservations about the place, but after many visits - this place rarely disappoints. Sure, the menu is set with steak being the main (and only) center piece, but why come here otherwise? And while I am admittedly not a major steak connoisseur, it is consistently good. Every time I got it was well seasoned, tender and properly cooked (one time it was a little chewy hence -1 star). And the artisan bread (which is just perfect) with salad only add to your $19.95 meal. Beer list is pretty short, but has at least two solid local choices. Definitely will come back here whenever I am feeling for "steakish" again.

Fantastic brunch! Haven't gone here for anything else yet, but you will not be disappointed with the brunch. So there's the inclusive all-you-can-drink mimosas, screwdrivers, etc, with your brunch plate for $25, which is a little hefty, but considering you can have several drinks it's not bad! Also have to compliment their famous benedict, which was really tasty. Steak and mushrooms in a savory gravy over their bread with a poached egg, great fries as well. Service was nice, but the place is normally packed so be sure to call ahead!

Absolutely scrumptious. The concept is amazing, the food is amazing, the service is superb. Whereas the beer selection could be improved, I was very impressed overall. They truly do cook the steak precisely to your liking and the second serving is a pleasure. Will go back many times.
