Great bartenders, chill atmosphere. Definitely worth a try.
I love going to American Ice Company. Always very chill when I get there late. Great bar. Great staff. Great patrons
Great place to grab drinks in the neighborhood . Especially
If attending the 9:30 club
Swachos changed my life forever, period.
Service was on point! Server was always there to serve us another round of drinks. Water cups filled without asking. Food was great including the highly recommended half smoke with side of coleslaw and pickle. I’d go back just for that dish every time. Vibe is real cool inside. Very laid back and relaxed. We were there when it wasn’t too busy (Thursday afternoon) so may be an entirely different beast at night and on weekends.
So glad I stumbled upon this little gem of a place. Not fancy, serves beer in jars, and has some killer brisket and pulled pork. This is a great place for work happy hour. Super casual, good food, cool vibe.
American Ice Company offers a unique setting close to both 9:30, The Atlantis, and the Green Line. We had the nachos, which are legit. It's not one of those cheap places where they only put stuff on top and 5 minutes in your eating naked tortilla chips. We also have the veggie dog, which comes with veggie chili. I would recommend both dishes to anyone seeking vegetarian or meatless dishes. Their selection of beer is vast and affordable.
Hipster bar filled with hipsters. Chairs without backs, wood decor, and dim lighting. A classic hipster experience. Uncharacteristically, the staff was friendly. I liked it a lot. Would return!
Been coming here for almost a decade and couldn't be more glad to have this place in the neighborhood. Okay amount of seating both inside and out, decent staff who are pretty quick and attentive, and delicious swachos (including a vegetarian option). I dig the mason-jar-for-draft vibe too. Note for the sensitive: smoking is permitted on the front patio.
American Ice was rightfully popular on Saturday night. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. The prices are reasonable and the drink service was prompt. As a wine enthusiast, I would have preferred to have more options to choose from. The industrial decor and open concept enhance the atmosphere and overall experience at the bar.
Great place to sit outdoors and enjoy some good beers and cocktails. Dog friendly.
Great spot for beers and grub. Got the swachos and they were very tasty, but can't say the same for the chili (it was just chili). Vibe, beer selection, comfort and friendliness of staff all good and I would definitely come back. It's nice that it's a little of the beaten path of U Street, too, which may mean it's less crowded than some of the regular haunts on that strip. All in all, a recommended watering hole for when you're thirsty.
Definitely a hip bar with some great patio space (heated as well). Tried their milk stout and the grilled cheese. Their food menu mainly consists of southern comfort food, with a few twists. I'm coming back for both the food and beer. Great for large groups!
Super low key and chill environment. From the outside in you can tell it's a chill spot which was very much appreciated the night we went. Had no intentions of turning it up at all. Bartender was cool an the scene was a mix of trendy and professionals young and mature. I'd recommend a return or a first try.
Order the swachos! Enough food for 2-3 to share. They used to serve pitchers, not sure if they still do, but they were a good deal. Nice outdoor seating, but watch out for smokers if you don't like second hand smoke. Dog friendly as well.
Love the outdoor patio and that the main bar doors are open in nice weather. The draft beer comes in mason jars and they have good cocktails too. The BBQ is also delicious. Great place to stop on the way to 930 club!
Solid bar grub. Plenty of veg options. The kale salad was so so good! I also enjoyed taking some of my fiancé’s grilled cheese w pimiento. One of the best grilled cheeses i ever had. Veggie chili was a bit plain and lacking spices.
Nice patio and good beer selection. Although I like drinking out of mason jars, I feel like you get less beer for your money. It's a pretty happening spot so expect it to be crowded and noisy. I like that it's off of the main U street drag and is a little hidden.
