The waiters/waitresses kinda seemed like they didn't know what they were doing, but this place fortunately was saved by how fantastic the food is. Best meal I had in DC this year.
Highly recommend the Shakshuka and the Pastrami Ruben!
Great place for a bite to eat. Atmosphere is good, not too loud, seats are comfortable.
Staff is tentative without being over bearing. The shawarma and Ruben were fantastic!
Great place with good food, friendly staff and indoor/outdoor seating. A very nice Cabernet by the glass and the grill was cooked perfectly. Great combination of flavors. The cocktail menu looked wonderful, but I did not partake.
Outstanding service from Nacho and unbelievably “chill” atmosphere like we are regulars. Smoked down the Classic ground brisket and feta & dill cigars but watch the dipping sauce it brings the heat. We split the pastrami poblano sandwich “triple D approved” and it was off the hook flavor. Check this place out!
I enjoyed the food, my old fashion was decent. The two watermelon margaritas we ordered looked and tasted very different form one another.
Overall a nice place, nothing fancy!
The Carving Room NoMa was delicious, after seeing it on TV I had to try it myself. I had the Poblano Pastrami Sandwich with french fries and they were amazing. The sandwich had just the right amount of spice and kick to them. If you're in the area I recommend you go try this place out.
We had a lovely brunch here! There were so many things on the menu we wanted to try!
We started with the pickle plate and the whipped ricotta dip. Both were fantastic. The pita bread is so fluffy! It would have been nice for the pita to have been pre-cut, but that’s a small complaint. The whipped ricotta had a honey on top that really set this over the top.
All of our entrees were really good! A friend had the matzah ball soup and said it was better than her Jewish grandmas! The brisket was also excellent!
Overall, a lovely spot with good vibes and yummy food!
The service was great and the food was great only thing I don’t like is they add a 22% tip onto the bill instead of 20% for groups of 6 or more. Other than that everything was good.
The carving room restaurant in the NoMa area is a place I do recommend you stop for a delicious meal. I found this place on The diners, dives, and drive-ins TV show restaurant list for Washington DC. We were not disappointed the appetizers and our meals were delicious, and the atmosphere is very inviting
The carving room has a great ambiance. Dark with candles in the evening that gives it a romantic feel. Our server and over all service was really good. The food portions seem to be a little on the smaller side except maybe the flat breads and pizza. I had the lamb, it didn't come with and sides. It was good and flavorful the meat was just a very fatty cut.
Carving Room officially has the best brunch menu item in DC. Their traffic jam seen in the photo below gives you everything you want for Sunday breakfast: cheesy eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and French toast with their signature rasberry sause. It’s also the perfect amount of food: not too much, not too little. We’ll definitely be coming here more regularly for that dish.
Only feedback I have is the cheesy eggs were a tad salty (only a bit) and it would be great if they replaced their see through glass coffee mugs with more traditional pewter ones. Drinking hot coffee out of a glass feels weird to me for some reason.
Other than that, congrats on nailing the perfect brunch dish!!!
CR Noma is both a destination spot and friendly neighborhood hangout in the heart of NoMa perfect for family dinners, office happy hours, date nights, and weekend brunch. You can expect genial staff, high-quality ingredients, and a wallet-friendly happy hour for both food and drinks. Guests should not overlook the tahini wings, hummus, matzah ball soup, shakshuka, pastrami, flatbreads, lamb chops, and brisket burger.
Visiting in DC and decided to try it out. We ordered the classic cigars for an appetizer, they're really good but I don't think the sweet dip it comes with works out. We also ordered the shawarma with lamb and the shepherd salad with schnitzel. The salad was really good even with the serranos but the chicken was a little dry. The shawarma was very good. But I have to say the doors and windows are open and we were eaten alive by the mosquitoes. We are Floridians and live by the Everglades and it's not as bad as it was this evening in the restaurant.
The food and drink was on point. Everything was flavorful. I had the lamb flatbread and let me tell it was superb. The wait staff was very friendly hospitable, and attentive even though they had a large party going on. I would definitely recommend coming here for a bite.
We visited on 4/9/21 about 5pm and our initial experience started off horrible.
Not thinking to check for reservations, we walked to the establishment from our hotel around the corner. As we inquired about dining, the present host (presumed bartender*) sent us through reservation red tape when it was about 5 patrons patronizing the establishment. He informed us the earliest would be 8pm with literally an empty restaurant. My partner walked out but I waited to clarify that's what was said.
8pm opening with an empty restaurant at 5pm and you didn't want to seat 2 people. After my disclosure about the empty restaurant he hesitantly seated us at an empty table that was close by the host stand....... This is where our experience dramatically improved!
THANK YOU Tye because had the present host/bartender been our server... experience RUINED.
However we definitely enjoyed our experience with Tye as our server. His service was beyond! Positive attire that lingered even when he went to a different section!
The food was great.
Service, thanks to Tye, was better!
We loved the overall ambience of the restaurant.
Thanks Tye for the recommendations ;)
*After we were seated, it was observed The present host who hesitantly seated us was stationed behind the bar. Other patrons, who didn't have reservations either, was seated by Tye or the female that surfaced when more people started patronizing.
